Can anybody update me on any of these shows??

But Dan, you never admitted to us all that you secretly LIKE reality TV! Cuz' we all know you do, so you may as well go ahead and admit it and be done with it! :) :)

I'm going to have to agree with Snoopy on this one.;) :p

I like the OLD reality shows.

You know.

Leave It To Beaver, Bonanza, Ozzie And Harriet, I Love Lucy......

 :p

I am actually horrified to realize that I have at least seen if not watched the whole season of alot of those shows. Can someone please find me a social life , I seem to have misplaced mine.
Tara

:rotfl:
Dan, you always brighten my day. Thanks.

Okay..okay..I confess!!!

Airline and Family Plots...

Get out the tar and feathers, Dan...........................

;)

I had to take time out from voting for Fantasia (You GO Girl!!) to say that I was also obsessed with The Apprentice!

Yep, Dan, I got it! But I KNOW YOU!

I don't take offense mostly because I am not ashamed of LOVING "reality" TV. If anyone knows the lack of reality it's me, since I've been in the business for SOOOO long. What amazes me is how addictive they are. The editing and the direction is the answer to that, this is a skill that Reality TV producers know.

Soap Operas and talk shows have done this for years.

I don't like MANY things on TV, but I would never ridicule anyone who chooses to watch them. To each his own. What bugs me is when people feel like they have to defend their choices... Good Lord, it's not choosing to drink and drive, it's not leaving a child in a car, it's not punching out your neighbor or disrespecting a poster, it's a personal choice that hurts NO ONE.

To each his own, everyone. Heck I hate sports and I'm surrounded by sports lovers. In fact I'm the complete opposite of just about EVERYTHING that people do on these boards yet I manage to survive here.

Wow, how did you even think of all of these??? You must have spent lots of time on this one. LOL Thanks for reminding me of some funny shows - weird ones too.:sunny:

I agree with Robin.

I don't like the feeling you are trying to get across Dan. I won't defend my right to watch reality TV and enjoy it anymore than I would expect you to defend your right to watch the White Sox or the Cubs. TV is an escape, and I much prefer to watch Survivor or Amazing Race than I would Friends any day of the week.

I can't sit down with my family and watch too many sitcoms these days. You can't get through 2 minutes without having to hear the word sex anymore, it's beyond ridiculous. So far in 8 seasons of Survivor I can't really think of any instances where I was embarrassed to be sitting there with my kids who are 8, 9 and 12. I can't say the same thing for most of what is considered good TV these days. I quit watching Friends years ago because for an 8 O' Clock show it was REALLY pushing the limits.

So, just so you know Dan, whether you mean to insult us or not, there are people who are insulted when you post these 'funny' posts.

Well said gymnasticsmom68.
If it wasn't so good, why are the rating so high?

Now Dan, I have to agree with Snoopy, for someone who keeps saying they don't like reality TV, you seem to be in all of the reality TV posts. With apologies to Shakespeare - "the 'poster' doth protest too much, methinks"

Just "bite the bullet" and start watching The Amazing Race in the beginning of July. It's one of the smartest, most fascinating shows and my 9 year-old DD has learned so much geography and international culture from it. I agree some of these shows are the only thing I can watch with my child.

Try it ....you'll like! (and then become addicted like the rest of us!)

I agree. I don't think that Reality Shows are any more of a waste of time than watching SPORTS on TV (I like to watch a hockey game once in a while, but some people watch Hockey, Football, Basketball, Baseball - every sport that exists).
How are these Sports any more stimulating to the brain than Reality shows?
Oh and what about those mindless Sit-Coms that people waste their time on (like FRIENDS :p), Frazier, etc.....

It's all about choice. It is ALL entertainment - but if we can find a way to unwind at the end of the day, to release tension, then who is it hurting?
I say, everybody watch what you want and don't let anyone make you feel guilty about it.

I'm sure Dan got the list from some site he found on Google, and I thought it was pretty funny. If my dh wasn't in my life, I'm sure I would be watching some of them but the arguments he's made to me for not having most of them on in the house in front of our children are very valid. By watching Survivor, for example, a child may get the idea that the conniving, backstabbing, lying, anything for $, etc., is an appropriate way to act in real life. That's not the message I'm looking to send my kids.

I have to admit, I am a fan of Airline (and also its European counterpart, Airport). There something about watching these folks deal with all the challenges that crop up in their jobs everyday that draws me in. It also gives me a huge appreciation for all those people who deal with some very difficult cutomers and still manage to be polite and smile.

Thanks for the thread Dan. That list is amazing.

I agree with WDWhound airline is very interesting to see how people really act and how a manager deals with them.
