Hello!

I'm bringing my two boys over on July 20th to pick up the final Harry Potter book.

As of right now, we have almost nothing set in stone. We will probably stay about 5 or 6 days and might venture off to Scotland or Ireland, depending on cost.

Is there a special trick to ordering Harry Potter books in London? A quick web search says that they largest bookstore in Europe is Waterstone's on Picadilly. Could I place an order online and have them available for midnight pick-up there?

Is there a good hotel near? It will be myself and two teen boys. They are not incredibly fussy travellers, but everybody will need a bed to sleep in. They don't do well on the floor.

Thanks!

Although everyone pre-orders the HP books, if it's like previous years most places have stacks of them, even the supermarkets, so you should be able to pick one up quite easily!

Hi there.. I agree with disney jo... I ordered mine from amazon for delivery on the right date last time, but then realised that I could have purchased it from Asda (supermarket) at midnight myself and had it earlier... That's what I'm going to do this time round!

That's what DH always does. Asda is only a stone's throw from our house and he pops over there and is back by 10 past midnight! :rotfl:

They usually undercut everyone else's prices too. :goodvibes

It's a bit fun, but not necessary - loads of kids and adults get dressed up as their favourite characters when they go to pick the books up as well. I was in Leeds when the last book was released and saw a whole family dressed up. The grandfather as Dumbledore was fantastic and the dad as Hagrid was really well done. They were walking around the city centre, heads held high, a copy of the book in their hands. They really looked the part and were having loads of fun! :wizard:
