Its a non-Disney year so we were thinking about Virginia Beach. It is close enough for us to drive and visit family in MD on the way. We've never been any info you can share would be helpful!
We drove to Virginia Beach last summer and had a blast (well not the drive).
We stayed on Sandbridge Beach and rented a house (there were 14 of us).
I would recommend staying at one of the hotels on Atlantic Avenue they are right there on the beach and located right on the strip. The strip is filled with all different shops, eateries, fun houses, haunted houses, etc . . .
During the day we spent our time on the beach, visiting Busch Gardens and Water Country. In the evening we walked the strip and went to dinner.
It was a very nice vacation and we were all pretty tan when we arrived home.
