Strange question, i know... but i have found the dining plan to be too much food, and the regular adult orders are too large. Wondering if any adults have had problems ordering kids meals for themselves?

Thanks!

Yes my friend does it and they charge her an adult price

WOW! I think i would be a little upset if they tried to charge me an adult price, lets see you get 1/2 the food but they are going to charge you the adult price? :sad2: That doesnt sit well with me... guess i will just bring my ziplocks, and just make 2 meals out of a regular meal...

ps. i just hate wasting food, that why i originally posted this, right now when i go out to eat now, i half my meal, and save the rest for later (im a single gal, and usually go to WDW solo. Ive found that i'm doing so much running around, i usually lose my appetite when im at WDW, so i just like to eat small meals. My last trip in May was for 7 days, and i was on the meal plan, and i ended up getting food poisoning at CRT, and so all those credits went to waste, so this time im not doing any kind of dining plan, and just going to wing it.)

I haven't ever heard of a person paying (out of pocket) an adult price for a kids meal at Disney. In fact I have read many accounts stating just the opposite. (This is the first that I've read implying anything else)

I HAVE read that if you're on the DDP you can order a kid's meal you will use your adult entitlement for that kid's meal.

If you are at a "sit down" restaurant they will charge you the adult price. At counter services they charge you the kids price (they don't know if it is for a kid or not). I find it is almost easier to purchase an appetizer & dessert rather than go the kids meal route.

Wow, this is totally new to me.

So how do they determine what adult price to charge at Table Service restaurants? I am curious because I hate to think about sharing wrong information and want to have the correct information to share next time this comes up.

As far as I can tell, the best answer to this is: sometimes yes, sometimes no. According to all the reports we get on the board, sometimes the restaurant will charge the adult price. Sometimes the restaurant will charge the adult price and provide a larger portion of the kids' menu food. Sometimes the restaurant will refuse to permit an adult to order a child's meal. It's going to depend on what each restaurant decides to do, or possibly on what an indivudual server believes is the restaurant's policy. There doesn't appear to be any hard and fast rule that applies to the entire WDW resort.

The only certainty is that an adult is not permitted to pay the child price at buffets or all you can eat fixed menu meals.

actually, i order off the kids menu at sit down places all the time and i never get charged an adult price unless they increase the portion size (and even then they ask if i want the child's size or to make a special adult's size)
i'm a very picky eater and so i usually just ask for a child's menu at all the places i eat (which is very often since i work for disney and eat there all the time).
the only time i'd pay an adult price is at a buffet or if it's on the dining plan.

you think because it's Disney, they make all your dreams come true. If you want to order a "kids meal" because you want to be a kid again, then I see why not. I hope I can, i'm 22 years old, and if I want to order a kids meal to feel like a kid, then i hope i wont be charged.

i have ordered a kid's meal at several of the TS at disney - i always ask the wait staff first and i always tip as if i had ordered a full meal...now at a buffet i am always counted as an adult...the issue i have with the kid's meals are that they are very limited in the selection...i always get a salad which helps but many times an appetizer and a salad is more satisfying than chicken nuggets and apple slices!
(i have not tried to order a kids meal at a signiture restaurant)

We just got back and I was in diet mode while I was there. I ordered kids meals while at CS restuarants and loved the grapes and apple slices with my mini burgers or chicken bits. When we went to nice restaurants, I ordered a soup or salad and then an appetizer as my main dish. I never tried to order from the children's menu so I don't know if they say anything about it yeah or nay.
