My son is 3.5 and is alittle over 39inches. We are going to disney in 4 1/2 months. Anyone know how quickly toddlers grow? he is sooooo close to that magical 40" mark! can I hang him upside down to possibly stretch him out lol:lmao:

Absolutely!! I believe my pedi told me that my 3 year old would grow 2-3 inches before he turns four (that is the average). So I think he has a shot :)

yay! We will be going a week after his 4th birthday so hopefully he grows! He is so excited to go on ToT and Splash mountain among other 40" rides! I hope he grows otherwise I may have to invest in baby sized lifts for his shows lol:lmao:

My toddlers did! My kids have grown as much as 6 inches in a year... (they are unusually tall, though, in the 99th percentile for height). That averages out to an inch every two months. My guess is that unless your child is very petite, an inch over four months is pretty average, no stretching required!!! :)

Growth spurts definitely do happen with toddlers. :goodvibes Very possible! :thumbsup2

Does he measure 39" barefoot or with shoes? Easy to get a little ooomph with regular tennis shoes on. :)

DD was just at the 40" mark last September and wasn't allowed on Soarin' when she had her sandals on -- but she made it on SW, TT, ToT, BTMRR, and SM with them so it really depends on the CM. So we went back with her tennis shoes and she was allowed to ride at Soarin'. :yay:

he measured 39.25 with sneakers with thin soles. He used to have some buzz sneakers that were pretty thick. He is in the 50 percentile so Im guessing an inch is not too much to ask! This year we are going with out grandparents (which make baby swap so much easier!) plus he is so excited to ride the big kid rides like his brother!

Oh, I bet he'll be fine. Get some thick sneakers if it's close. My youngest just made 40 for our trip. It honestly would have been horrible if he didn't. He LOVED all of those 40 inch rides! Good luck - feed him lots of veggies! LOL!

he is eating like a lil piggie lately so fingers crossed that'll jump start a little growth! I really hope he gets to enjoy the "big boy" rides as he calls them. He is kinda growing out of alot of the fantasyland rides. I know he will be sad to miss out on the bigger rides this time. He is so aware of the things he misses out on that his brother gets to do so I know this could be a tough trip if he has to sit out on the "good rides"

My daughter went to the doctor twice last month, about three weeks apart. Her height was 2 inches more at the second appointment than at the first. She is 93rd percentile on height, though, if that makes any difference.

It's definitely possible, but please prepare him for not being tall enough for some of the rides. Last time we were at Magic Kingdom we thought my son was tall enough for Space Mountain but the CM could get a sheet of paper over his head/below the sign and he was denied. They are really particular!

Agree that it's definately quite possible, but prepare him to not be tall enough and try those rides first thing in the morning. On one trip, our daughter measured just under 40" at shoes with home, so we prepared her to skip all the 40" rides. However, we said she could get measured so she would know how much to grow for next time - and she was magically tall enough! She continued to be tall enough as long as it was first thing in the morning. I'm glad I prepped her since she was turned away in the afternoons - and sometimes made the first measurement but not the second. We used regular running sneakers.

When we got home, we remeasured her. She was still a smidge under 40" with shoes. So, you never know!

For all that have those kids that are definetely old enough but on the smaller side...I have the absolute perfect way for them to gain an inch or more...
If you dial 1-888-One-inch in the next 5 minutes, We will give you the worlds secret on how to do it for only $21.99. Act now in the next 2 minutes & we'll double the offer and make it 2 inches...LoL

On a serious note : best way is the ol' rolled up extra pair of small socks. Right b-4 you get on the line, have your kid remove their shoe or sneaker & simply insert the extra sock in the heal part of the shoe. step in & (voila)Instant height & theres no way you could ever even tell...Try this at home:thumbsup2 & disregard the small infomercial..LoL

Certainly possible. DD just turned 4 and she grew 4 inches in the last year. Of course she eats like crazy so I wasn't surprised on how much she grew. She gained 8 lbs in that year too. :)

We started measuring our DS4 in June for our November trip. He was about 39 in June (shoes on) and made it to 41 (shoes on) by our trip. He still got checked often, but was never denied. And, hey, kids grow more in the spring (just read that at Bodies the Exhibition in NYC this week). So you have a great chance of making it!

First, yes, he will probably make it.

Second, I am shocked at those who are advocating how to get around the SAFETY rules. I guess I don't need to have my kids buckle up in the car if I'm going to the corner grocery, nothing will happen.:sad2:

The rules are there for a reason. Yes, they might be too strict, but is that our place to decide?

While your DS will probably be tall enough, I'd prep him for the "just in case".

I like that:thumbsup2 "so your saying I got a chance"! he has recently grown out of most of his clothes so hopefully its the start of something good! but if he doesnt make it he is a pretty easy going kid he will deal ok with it! Of course not without some disapointment! Thanks for all the great encouragement! I hope he makes it!!

Have him pick out ahead of time which rides he wants to ride first (with your help first) that have the 40" requirement, and do those first, starting with the ride he wants to ride the most, then second, etc... Kids (and adults) tend to "shrink" a little throughout the course of a day, due to a shortening of the spinal column. So even if he's 41" tall by then, still have him pick out some of the rides he wants to ride and then ride those first, but also prep him that he might not make it, and not to get too upset if he doesn't.

We leave in 3 weeks, and our two daughters who are on the tiny side, are barely tall enough and 39.5 inches tall barefoot! One is over 5.5 years old and 41 inches with shoes on. I think she's mature enough for Soarin' and I know the height requirement seems more for maturity on that one to me. 40" for Big Thunder Mountain though? I'd stick to it. KWIM? My other daughter, is 4.5 years old, and same there for her. She's definitely mature enough to sit still and enjoy Soarin' and for the life of me I can't figure out WHY it's 40" except for maturity. But, as far as other rides for 40" like Splash Mountain, I'm actually a little wary for her on that one.

Of course, going along with the being tiny in stature, they're tiny in weight departments too. The 4.5 year old weighs in at 28 pounds...thus why I'm worried about Splash Mountain and glad Big Thunder Mountain is closed. ;) As far as Tower of Terror...yeah RIGHT, they won't even get in line for it even if they are tall enough.

They sure are a BIG change from my first son who was 4 years old and 45 inches tall! LOL

We won't do anything to circumvent the height requirements, but our 4.5 year old will be devastated if her big sister gets to ride something and she does not. It quite terrifies me. Or course, her big sister (who is 5.5) is a little afraid of any ride that is indoors....and we had to force her on Small World the first time.

To the OP, yes, it is entirely possible your little one will grow in that amount of time. :) Just prepare them for maybe not, and while I don't advocate tricks, finding a good pair of shoes that would be comfortable for the parks for all day that also happen to be thicker than say Converse shoes in the heels would be acceptable. The girls have new light up tennis shoes that they will be wearing.

Yep, the little guy I'm taking was ~39 in shoes a couple months back and when I remeasured he had jumped to 41+ in a couple months. Wow, what spurt!
