Can a TA "transfer" the reservation back to us?

You’re not bothering the TA when you call to have her make requests or update DME. She’s getting paid to do those things for you. It’s not bothering her, any more than it’s bothering your insurance agent to ask them to follow up on a claim after they’ve filed it.

Its happened so many times though - between our changing airlines because of the Max issue, then the airlines changed a flight time, then we changed the flight because we didn't like the new flight time, I feel like its the ever evolving flight saga and with 90 days to go I'm still not sure the airline isn't going to change it again. Thankfully someone posted the DME link so I'm just going to go through there and update it as needed. And the room request, I'm now in hands of what our TA has on file as well as Touring Plans and we'll just hope for the best. :)

Doesn't matter how many times changes happen or are requested, our job is to do what you the client asks of us. We do this job because we enjoy it! If people don't enjoy it, they are obviously in the wrong business. You will never be bothering your TA. It is YOUR vacation and it's our job to make sure it's a magical one.

Now Im generally curious, how so?? If I clearly stated, numerous times in fact, that if the commission was at stake in no way would I jeopoardize that for her, what harm is it in taking back the reservation?? We enjoy working with her, in fact worked with her the year prior, and we hope to work with her in the future as well, but if I wanted to take it back to cause HER less work in what seems like our never ending flight changes and asking that she call DME to change it over and over again because we can't, and also since our DD has special needs we want to speak to someone personally ourselves with regard to our "room request", what's so wrong with that??
There is nothing wrong with that and don't allow anyone here make you feel guilty about what you want to do. It is your trip and your money. If you feel more comfortable taking charge of your own vacation plans, request the reservation be transferred back to you.

I'm going to reiterate what the TA said previously and if you want to speak with someone about your room request see if your TA will do a 3-way call. When I booked with a travel agent, I got a room even better than requested. All the times since that I have booked myself (I change plans constantly so hate going through a travel agent for that reason), I NEVER get what I request. There was one medical related request and that too was ignored.
I have always booked myself and when I put in room requests, they have always been granted. :confused3

Oh i dont feel guilty by anything anyone's said here, I was just curious as to why they think its clearly such a terrible thing to do -- and from the sounds of it from multiple sources that it would cost the TA her commission, and I'm just not going to do that to her, or any other TA for that matter. :)

Not something you can do on your own but our travel agent was able to get a “medical need” form filled out for us in regards to room requests. Have your travel agent mention it when putting in your room requests!

Ok, what's your secret?!?!
No idea. :smooth: I call and make a request. Maybe I've been lucky? I don't have super complicated requests, though. It is usually things like top floor, or a building close to transportation, etc. I don't request specific room numbers or anything like that. I try to make them as general as possible.

I actually request specific room numbers, and it has worked for us...except once when they swapped rooms with another family we were traveling with, so it all worked out.

I think the term “getting rid of them” is a bit harsh and over reacted. If
First, I was responding to another poster. You said you wouldn't do it, right? So, it wouldn't pertain to your situation. Second, what I said is accurate.

Do you see now why it is a terrible thing to do? That should be pretty clear.

I'm so confused by this thread. I always use a TA to book our resort. That is literally all they do for us. I book DME, make room requests via TP, and everything else. I never feel that I don't have control of my reservation.
