Can a 1 year old nap in the WDW strollers?

We are planning on renting the double strollers during our stay. Does anyone have experience w/ a little one being able to nap in them? THANKS!

After a few hours at disney world I could nap in a stroller, and 6-3 240.

I would say it depends on the park. At MGM, the strollers were a canvas like fabric (similar to jogging strollers) but at MK the strollers were a hard plastic, which would be pretty uncomfortable.

Just my opinion, but with a 1 year old I would definately bring your own stroller. We still bring our own and my daughter will be 4 in August. The park strollers are only available "in the parks". So, you wouldn't have one when walking to/from the busses, shopping at Downtown Disney, walking the Boardwalk, or walking around your resort, etc. When you throw in the diaper bag, cameras, stuff you purchased that day, the stroller comes in real handy.

I agree with Jenn wholeheartedly! My DD (almost3) had a very difficult time napping in the double stroller at MK! We plan on bringing our own in July and renting another for my 5 year old.

Another vote for bringing your own stroller. We always bring our own, we brought 2 (one for each kid - and parent, lol) for our last trip. The kids are more comfy in their own strollers and you'll have the basket room you don't get with the rentals.

For a young child I would definately rent offsite or bring yours along. The MK, AK and Epcot have hard plastic 4 wheelers and MGM has a jogger type, none of which seem good for a 1yo. The site wdwig.com (Deb's Site?) has lots of great information on traveling with young children and preschoolers and also has pictures and info on the strollers at all the parks. Check out the pictures and decide for yourself.

Our dd was 15 mos the first trip and the stroller from home was ideal. Often dh and I would take a walk after dinner, get a drink and sit somewhere quiet while dd was in pj's and fed for the night. She loved to lay in the stroller for walks and the florida night air was great to put her to sleep. She would go to bed for the night right in the stroller at the resort and we could stay out a bit and enjoy the atmosphere without being stuck in the room. We did this a few nights at Epcot as well, we got to enjoy some of the countries and a nice dinner while dd slept comfortably - being at an Epcot resort helped in this regard. We used a bug net and a stroller fan to help keep her comfy!

I would say not, unless you have a bunch of blankets for cushioning!! They are not the most comfy things, but they do have their good points...

We flew in from out of state and have 2 toddlers. Bringing 2 strollers or 1 double stroller didn't seem realistic. (Not with carseats, lots of luggage, etc.) We rented the double stroller and after the first day ended up renting a single for the 6 year old too. I have photographic proof of all 3 enjoying some zzzz in their strollers. (We tucked their blankies behind their heads to make them more comfortable.)

Also remember, if you bring your stroller from home and it is big, they are a big pain to take everything out, collapse and load when getting on buses.

I would reccomend an afternoon nap. Parents could use a rest also and in the summer time you will avoid some of the heat. The parents can take turns watching the children or nappying while the other can swim if you like. It is a nice change and gives you more energy for the evening.

If you go to MK, you might ride the boat over to Fort Wilderness to eat at the Trail's End Buffet. $8 Adult all you can eat, really good food and it is a nice relaxing place for kids to nap or play on the playground equipment for a change of scenery. Very calm and quiet over there while everyone else is in the parks.

I wouldnt think that a 1 yr old could sleep in a WDW stroller - they are hard, upright and look really uncomfortable


We come from the UK every year and have a dd 8 1/2 and DS 5 1/4 and we have always brought our own with us - we tend to bring an old one and then leave it either in the hotel or the car hire people will get rid for you

Another idea is that somewhere like Walmart or Costco sell them really cheap - you may as well buy one from there - a lot cheaper than renting from the parks and you also have them for DD and BW and the malls if you want go to shopping

We as well brought one from home for our 1 yr old. (Then ended up going to walmart to but a new one the first night of our stay, because the wheel of ours broke off as we entered the magic kingdom on our first morning. What luck!) Anyways, it was a little bulky, but it allowed our DS to sit up, or recline if sleeping. It also had a cup holder to hold his sippy cup and snacks to munch on while we strolled.

Another thing we bought before going was one of those metal backpack carriers. He had never been in one, but he really like riding in it. DH wore it mostly, but I did some, and it wasn't bad. DS was able to see around, and even slept in it while we walked around tom sawyer island. We haven't used it since then, but it was a life saver. He wasn't walking yet (We went a couple days after his first b-day), and he would have hated sitting in a stroller all week. This was also a life saver when waiting in lines, since you can't take the stroller. i think he slept through most of the lines we waited in.

Our 3 year old grandson thought he was far too grown up to use a stroller while at DW and my DD wanted to bring one. One evening when I was playing with him (hate calling it babysitting when it is for a grandchild) I told him about how big the parks were and how jealous his mom and dad and big brother would be because he got to ride while they had to walk. He grinned from ear to ear and jumped right into the stroller and never missed a chance to rub it in while he was there!!

I saw people doing this in the mk/ak type strollers. They had the child lying accross the seat of the double. To me it looked like the child could roll off the seat into the foot space though.

I started this thread, but did not imagine it would still be going when I got back from our trip. Thanks to your replies I was able to convince my husband to bring our own light weight umbrella stroller for the 1 year old and rent a stroller for the 4 year old. It worked out great. The 1 year old could nap when he wanted to and we actually rented a double stroller on the hotter days and used the extra space for the camera & diaper bags. We do take afternoon naps back at the hotel, but w/ the heat and all the stimulation the little one needed a few extra shorts naps in his own stroller. THANKS!
