Cam's New Lease on Life Journal (comments welcome!)

You're back on track & doing great!

If you had the chinese near WI, that's probably the cause of the uppage. It is really a big sodium addition. I'll bet you'll have the gain off very quickly.

Hang in there and just keep taking one day at a time. You CAN do this!

Beth -- Thank you for your support-- it means so much to me to have you stop by to encourage me. I really feel like I am getting back into the groove of things, though it seems I don't have as much time as I'd like to plan meals, cook food ahead of time, and go to the gym. I am going to accept that this is real life and I'll have to make my new lifestyle work with the life schedule imposed on me by circumstances.

Julie -- Thank you so much for reminding me that all kinds of things influence WI. As you suspected and I failed to focus on, I think all the sodium I ate this weekend finally caught up with me and I had a lousy WI Tuesday a.m. But (even though I shouldn't have) I stepped on the scale this morning and it was back where it should be. I really think it evens out in the end, if you look at enough weeks in a row.

Yesterday was a pretty decent food day -- last night while I was waiting for Jenn at her Kaplan SAT course, there were all sorts of temptations in that college town, and I had 2.5 hours on my hands. I stopped at a coffee shop and had a skinny latte w/sweet n low, then went to a salad place and had a garden salad w/grilled chicken, fat free dressing, and a multi-grain roll. Delicious and a good, filling use of points. After that, I didn't go to TCBY, Dunkin Donuts or Baskin Robbins, but back to my car to sit and read.

Hoping to get to the gym tonight, but crazy schedule today and tomorrow, so I'll have to figure out a way to make that work.

Geez, totally forgot to mention the GREATEST news -- one of my best friends and I are going to do a girls' weekend at WDW in August!!!! I CANNOT believe it! Neither of us has ever gone away without our hubbies and/or children. We are really, really looking forward to having no commitments and no one to worry about but ourselves at the happiest place on earth! 64 days away! I am hoping to lose at least another 10 pounds by then. If I keep doing the 5/month challenges and really stick with them, I should be able to pull that off.

That sounds like so much fun to go with a girlfriend. The 10 lbs off is doable. I would love to lose another 15 lbs by Sept 2 when my nephew gets married so lets keep encouraging each other. :sunny:

Calena -- Thanks so much for your encouragement. 15 by September 2 sounds awesome! I'll be with you all along cheering you on!

Let's hope exercise speeds the progress! Did 45 minutes on the elliptical cross trainer tonight. Not very fast, mind you, but I did squeeze in 45 minutes of activity between work and going to see Batman Begins -- which was AWESOME!

Hey Cam: Good job on the elliptical--I am too klutzy to use those.

Have a great weekend.

NCRedding-- THAT is so funny. I am the klutziest person you will ever meet, and the first couple times on the elliptical, I was hanging on for dear life. Now, I can read a magazine, listen to my ipod & do about 3mph rate on it. It definitely is an awesome workout. I always feel like I am accomplishing so much when I do it because I work up a sweat!

Food is going well so far today
B -- lite english muffin plain (1); lite yogurt (2)
L-- Greek salad (5) (greens w/fat free feta, kalamata olives, pine nuts); no dressing
S -- fat free vanilla yogurt (2) -- I was going to cut up a banana in this, but decided I'll eat the banana on the way to the gym tonight, instead.

Dinner tonight will probably be some grilled chicken marinated in fat free italian dressing (4) and some steamed broccoli (0). Wow!! That sounds so delicious, and I am not even hungry. And I will still have plenty of points to have something else to eat if I want it.

I am determined that by my August trip to WDW, I will be down another 10 pounds. 63 days and counting!

Exercised at the Y -- 20 minutes on the stationary bike; 30 minutes on elliptical cross trainer. Then to the local walking trail (which I think is .5 miles) for one circuit in 16 minutes.

Hi Cam!

Great job getting that exercise in! :cool1: Keep up the good work and those 10 pounds will be gone by your trip to WDW! :cheer2:

Thank you so much for your encouragement in my journal. I appreciate your support!

Have a great weekend! :flower:

Cam your exercise is always SO awesome! I need to get back on my elliptical, but I never seem to go downstairs where it is. You inspire me!

Hi Cam,

You are doing a great job. I know you can make your ten pound goal.

I am going to try the elliptical this week. I hav been using the glider, but I may have need to swich things up a bit.

Keep it up girlfriend,
Beth

Jen

You are an exercising machine!!!! Your totals are great and you are working your body hard... will have to up my exercise to keep up! :cool1:

Thanks, everyone! Just popping in real quick to try to catch up on the past few days.
Exercised Friday night at the gym and then went to our local shopping center that has a beautiful fountain and a walking path around it -- did one circuit to see how long it would take -- less than 7 minutes -- hmmmm, must not even be 1/2 mile.

Saturday morning, dragged DH out of bed early to go to the fountain walk again -- did 4 circuits, which I'm told is 1.7 miles at a pace of less than 16 minutes. Not bad, considering it is outdoor walking, which I will have to get used to.

No workout Sunday -- food was bad, too, including 2 slices of pizza, but I journaled all of it, used some of my FPs and am still OP for the week, which ends tonight.

Tonight -- went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the recumbent bike (5.3 miles) and 30 minutes on the elliptical cross trainer (2 miles). Earned 7 APs, which I don't think I will be using. Still have 5 points for the day, so I will force myself to drink some milk and I'll have a WW dessert -- something chocolate, I think.

Hope to catch up on journals tomorrow. Today was an insane week at work. LOL! I guess it just FELT that way. Is it Friday yet?

You are doing an amazing job. I can see (and feel) the results.

Hey Cam!

Sounds like you did a great job with your exercising and staying OP this week! Way to go!!!! :cool1:

I hope you get a chance to relax and catch your breath soon. ::yes:: It sounds like work has been super busy for you.

Have a great day Cam and keep up the good work! :cheer2:

seems like I am always in a rush, but trying to at least keep track of my efforts.

Down another 4 pounds this week, part of which was to make up for last week's 2.5 pound gain. That puts me at 44.5 down from my highest weight, 37.5 down since my heart surgery on 1/6/05, and 26 down from my WISH start weight on 1/17/05. I am focusing on the "highest weight" number and my WISH start number -- they each give me satisfaction of a different type.

Tonight -- Did 5.88 miles on the recumbent bike in 30 minutes and 40 minutes on the cross trainer (2.45 miles).

Cam - great job with the weight loss and the exercise. Thanks for the encouragement in my journal. I am using the exercise to relieve the boredom of living in a hotel every other week. I should have no trouble walking the 1/2 distance, the only question is whether it can be accomplished in the allotted time. As you said, there is still plenty of time.

Cam, you are doing GREAT!!! 4 lbs this week, even with last weeks gain is REALLY GOOD!!

I have no doubt you'll make the 1/2. Just keep swimming!!!!! :goodvibes
