We are looking at a trip to FW in may or june. I have been reading all the post and have learned a great deal about FW. One thing i haven't seen though, are campfires allowed at the sites, or do you have to gather up at the central location to enjoy a fire?

No open fires are allowed at the campsites. The rules are only charcoal fires allowed in the grills. Some have successfully ignored this rule, but with the significant amounts of brush at FW, a forest fire could be disastrous, hence the rule.

Oh, that's a little disappointing. Understand the rule, but if you don't reek of woodsmoke, how can you say you're camping???

Head down to the campfire sing along. Its a lot of fun.

You can rost marshmallows, have a sing along, chip and dale visit and then you get to watch a movie! Its one of my favorite activities!
