Camping for one night with 3 kids... am I INSANE????

well this years camping trip has been, well, adjusted.


we were all set to go our favourite spot on the Oregon Coast for the whole weekend when my brother asked us to stop by his place for a couple of days since were over in that general direction so we said ok.

So now were going camping for one night ( read ALL camping gear for ONE night) then on to my brothers for 2 more nights. The good part will be seeing Seattle and of course my brother and his family but they will gone for the other night ( the one we'll be camping for ) so we wont be able to just go and stay with them for the whole weekend plus we promised the kids they could go "white camping" ( the cabin is white).

SO I get to load up all the camping gear for 1 night. UGH

We thought of a hotel but this is a big weekend and couldnt find any vacancies.


Oh well, I think I am going crazy for this trip. lol

How big is your car? Seriously.. its a lot of work.. with three kids. We did it once with two kids, two adults, and I wouldn't do it again...

I would vote to sleep in the car!

Can you rent/borrow a winnebago. I don't like to go camping. Bugs love me.

With three kids that means a lot of gear and work. I think I would keep trying every day for a hotel cancellation. ( try directly to the actual hotel not the nation 800 # that should help).Good luck!

YES !!!

Im taking DS camping for 3nights Aug 16-19 in a cabin w/kitchenette & bathroom (no shower tho). My idea of camping has changed this year. Past years I was able to camp in a cabin w/out a bathroom (Yogi's) but have recently decided I need a bathroom.

LOL youre too funny
I went through the camping gear and narrowed it all down to one box. We'll be staying a cabin ( such as it is) electricty, 4 walls and beds so it isnt quite so bad. e have to hike to the bathrooms and the showers but isnt far.

I think we'll be ok.

We'll just do hot dogs ( blech) and chips or something equally unhealthy.
and smores of course cant camp without smores

I think it will be ok. Ill let you know next week if I survive.

If you dont hear from by Wednesday someone send out the Oregon State Police, 'k?
