Hi all! This is my first post here (of many more to come!). My husband and I decided that we wanted to take a Disney trip just last week and I have already immersed myself in all things Disney! I'm glad that I found this place so early on. I can already tell that it will be invaluable. Now onto the question...

We are contemplating tent camping for our Disney stay. We're still in college and money is certainly a factor, but we also enjoy camping. Do you think that young newlyweds would enjoy camping at Disney or not? It seems like most of the tent/RVers are families. Now I know not to expect roses and romance, but we also don't want to feel like we're out of place amongst the happy families.

I dont think you will out of place at all, over the years I have seen many couples (no Kids) at Disney and on our last trip we had a couple next to us in the 800 Loop in a tent. We said hello just about every day...

Yep, there are many young couples and solos that come tent camping at Disney!!

DH and I love to tent camp! We're still a young couple!! (at heart, at least) :bride: :groom:

I think it's very romantic to cuddle up together in a tent, and listen to the "campground noises" late at night. :lovestruc

Yeah, don't worry about the noise keeping me awake at night - I'll just turn on my AC and drown you out.

I guarantee you that you will not feel out of place. I always see solo and couple campers on every trip, both in the tent loops and throughout the Fort. Everyone is welcome!

Oh, so glad to hear! Thanks for the replies. I'm still trying to get over my irrational thoughts of Disney being for kids and feeling silly for wanting to go without any kids.

Camping is looking better and better.

:rotfl2: Thanks ftwildnerness!

We are a happy "family of 2" + 2 dogs! :goodvibes

You absolutely won't be out of place. As for all the kids, someone on Dis said it perfectly (which I remembered who it was)...
"Growing old is inevitable, growing UP is optional!"

Instead of worrying about not having any kids with you... BE THE KIDS! :dance3:

We're heading to FW for our 4th trip in 5 years in Dec (just us and the pups) and already have our MVMCP tix (complete with Mickey Santa hats!), and fully intend on getting in line for Dumbo with the young 'uns!

Have a wonderful time!!!

Don't worry, we've taken more trips without our kids than with our kids. (Our "kids" are now 20 & 22, and rarely go with us any longer, maybe for a day or so IF we pay for it.)

My sister (who has a 7 yo boy) still doesn't understand what the appeal is of going to Disney without kids. Then again, she's hasn't been since she was 12! :scared1:

We're 38/43 and have not only gotten completely hooked, but each year we try and find a way to stay longer and longer... 3 weeks in our homey hybrid in Dec!!

This year we're also playing "tour guide" to my aunt and uncle our first week. This is their first Disney trip in almost 20 years since they took their then 16 yo grandson. They're both in their 70s, travel extensively (took an incredible month long trip to Africa in Jan), and... they are almost as excited to go as we are!! :cool1:

FWIW...My DH & I honeymooned at FtW in 1974...and we're still together. I'd say it was a good choice!

And don't forget to pack a fishing pole in the tent.
Just in case you find yourself need'n a fish'n fix.:thumbsup2

lolol I'm a 52 year old kid at heart!! and I've camped as a couple, and as a group of friends or as family...each and every time its been different...but for me each time is great...you will fall in love with the Fort!!!

lol I always carry a fishin pole....I grew up fishing and still love it....but never find the time at WDW!!!...mine is PINK BTW lolol

Go you will love it. I grew up staying at FW while at WDW. But me and the DW got married at 21 back in 2000. I took her on her first trip in 2002 and we stayed in a tent. She now loves disney and we have gone back every 10 to 14 months since.(would be more often but we live a thousand miles away) After our first trip together to FW we came back home and bought a 5er. Now we have traded that trailer for a toy hauler to haul our golf carts to FW. My point is you will have a great time we have bought all this stuff to stay at FW. Really all you need is a tent and 2 bikes. Oh yeah don't forget the beer. $12.00 a six pack gets expensive fast. (assuming you are of legal age)(dad gum political correctness)

we have been camping in disney as a couple for the last 10 + years we aren't as young as we use to be but still feel like kids when we go we will be there in 12 days oct 12 - 27 can't wait to have a few days as a kid agian

It's funny how people hesitate because they think Disney is just for kids. I thought that untill my DW made me go for my first time in 1998 (married at 22 in 1997). I think now I have 8 trips on my talley. I've even been there without DW once...she was less than impressed. Anyway, the point is that Disney is the greatest place on earth. We started out by staying at the All-Star resorts and back in 04 we borrowed a camper from a friend and then we bought one and headed to the Fort. We head down the end of Nov again for our 3rd trip with a camper. It seems like we only camp about 2 or 3 times a year, that stinks but as long as we go to the Fort for one of them we are happy. We now have two girls and both of them have been to the World before they were even 1. We have a 18 month old that is about to go on her 2nd Fort trip. I hope you go and you WILL have the time of your life.

DH and I are going solo this Sunday to celebrate our 9th anniversary.

Kids aren't joining us until Thursday! ;)

I love to bring my kids to Disney but I always make room for solo time for me and DH so we appreciate the kids when are alone time is over.

Of course we have a TT because I'm not in college and if I had to sleep on the ground there would be trouble.

But we are going to enjoy some fine dining, shop at our leisure without a kid in the background saying "I'm Bored!", we are taking time to relax and smell the flowers and watch the otters.. without having to rush to the next must do ride etc. and we may check out minature golf for the first time because we have the extra days.

It will be our first trip the fort and I was able to do 9 days instead of our usual 4 because the fort is more affordable.

Best Wishes!
