Has anyone camped at either of the 2 closest rv parks by disneyland? if so tell me all about it. Also has anyone used a tent here while camping?
We are looking at all options but if we stayed at a campsite we would be staying in a tent( a big 7 person tent).
Thanks

I would not be able to recommend either RV park with a clear conscience. As much as they have cleaned up the Anaheim Resort area, those RV parks are still the worst parts of the area close to DLR. I have a friend who's father is living in an RV, and he was there as recently as 4 months ago. He said it's not the place for kids, or really anyone who's not looking to score some crystal meth.

I know, maybe it's called Harbor RV, the one on Harbor on the west site, NOT travelers world, allows tents.

Anahiem Resort RV Park, which is across I-5 opposite the Fairfield inn, allows tents.

I have not camped at these but have looked into them.

I have heard this as well. Unfortunately Anaheim has a pretty large portion of homeless people--as well as drug problems. The areas around Disneyland are not that great in general. You will see drugs, crime (like muggings), and prostitution. The camp sites around the DLR are sort of a hotbed for these issues. It is also not an area of natural beauty, either.

What about checking priceline for a hotel room? Sometimes you can find a pretty great hotel thru priceline for about 50.00 a night. You can bid on a 3 star hotel and get something like the Hilton Anaheim which has a shuttle.

thanks everyone. the suggestions make me say no to camping there lol hotel is best for my families safety.

I think that is a wise choice, and you will probably be so much more comfortable as well.

Have a great trip and let us know how your planning goes!:goodvibes

The safety and peace of mind factors would be worth the extra $$ for a hotel. There is a LARGE homeless pospulation in the area. Most RV "parks" around here are really long term living accomodations for the homeless, unfortunately. The clientel would be similar to many of the residential motels that surround Disneyland, it's really sad.

This documentary made me cry. Many of these kids' parents work or had worked for DL. So sad that this is where they are living on a minimum wage salary..

Sorry I can't remember the names right now but I found them with a search of Anaheim campgrounds.

I have stayed in both rv parks in a tent. We've stayed twice at the Harbor one and at the bigger one directly across the street last year. I had no trouble with either tho I think I prefer the bigger place, more tent sites and a bigger pool and hot tub.
You can watch the fireworks from both. The Harbor one you go to the motel (Day's Inn maybe) next door to catch the ART. The other has a shuttle right from the office. In the office you can buy snacks, use the computer, very friendly people.
It's just my ds and I so I definetly wouldn't stay if I felt unsafe which I didn't. Actually hoping to stay again this summer.

If you're going to San Diego the KOA is beautiful and a great place to stay. The other campground on Mission Bay is quite nice but the sites are very small.
