Is it possible to stay at Fort Wilderness for a week or two, leave your travel trailer in the front parking lot and drive your tow vehicle to Port Canaveral for a week-long cruise? We are considering doing this fall of 2010. If it is allowed, is there a storage fee? If Disney does not allow this, does anyone know of a storage facility nearby that might charge a fairly reasonable rate for this service? Any other suggestions? Thanks! Sam

I doubt they would let you park for a week. I know they will allow it for a day. For example if you check out and want to hit the parks one last time before you leave you can park there. Also if you arrive and your site is not ready you can park there. Its intended purpose is for people with extra vehicles (maybe a tow vehicle or cargo trailer) that won't fit at the site. That being said, I have read posts about people parking for extended periods, but I doubt they did so with Disney's permission.

Anybody know of short-term RV storage possibilities near Fort Wilderness? We definitely are doing a cruise, and would really like to experience camping in WDW again. (It's been 30 years ago since we tented there). I guess we could use our DVC as an option, but would like to bring the trailer so we could do some other things in Florida as well. We're recently retired, and it seems foolish not to do a bigger trip since we travel from PA.

is it Disney Cruise? If so I would call the fort directly to get the answer, if you do leave it there with Disney's approval make sure they give you a parking pass so it's not towed out.

a Friend of mine has an RV shop very close to the Port where you will departing from, he has storage available, but you would have to drop off and retrieve your rig during business hours. Let me know if you would like more details.

Yes, it's a Disney cruise on the Magic. Good suggestion to ask Fort Wilderness directly. I just love the forums to pick the brains of others, so I put it out here. Just saw your reply Donny - Thanks!

Why don't you just take the Disney bus to the Port? Isn't that something free that Disney does??

I'm fairly sure I've read this on here before, that they do allow it for free. Just let the front desk know, and they'll give you a parking pass to put in the window.

I believe that the cruise line buses only leave from moderate and deluxe resorts, and that there is a fee for using them. I'm not sure about Ft. Wilderness. Does anyone have the "best" phone number to reach the campground? Regular Disney staff are usually not well-informed about Ft. Wilderness, or so I've heard.

I have definietely heard of people doing this before. And I have seen the Cruise Bus at the Outpost many times. Don't know about them only servicing the moderate and deluxe...but regardless...the Cabins are listed as a Moderate. The # is 407-824-2900. That just puts you to a resort switchboard...then you have to ask to be transferred to the front desk at the Fort.

Here's proof positive that you can leave your RV in the overflow lot while enjoying a Disney Cruise:

Here is a closer look at the pass on the right in the photo above:

I suspected that it might be allowed, but now, as you say, I have proof positive. Obviously I'd call to make sure they haven't changed policy when the time comes that we want to do it. Thanks again.

TCD once again I bow down in respect to your vast knowledge of all things Disney! :worship: You are the MAN! :thumbsup2
