We will be traveling from Slidell, LA and are looking for a campground about half way. Also, we will be doing Universal & we got one night @ the Royal Pacific due to the FOTL perk. We would like a campground close to Universal for our last day there. Thanks for the advice!

We usually stop at Ocala RV Camp Resort in Ocala Fla. Its about 1-1 1/2 hrs from Disney. I would just stay at FW and go to Universal, you won't find a better Campground than Disney and its pretty close to Universal. We drive from Texas.

I thought about doing this too becasue we were going to do Universal for one day before we got to Disney but I could not find a campground closer to Universal than Fort Wilderness either! There were not far apart!

It was worth it not to have to set up again!

Good Luck!

We too are going to be traveling from your area, Folsom to be exact, and are thinking Ocala might be where we overnight.

I have never been to this camp ground but I have had Friends say its really beautiful and clean. The name is Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake phone number is 407-299-5581. Looking at the map it looks preety close to Universal.
Good Luck

I don't know if you have already taken your trip or not, but there is a really great campground east of Tallahassee in Madison, Florida right off of I-10. Maybe that could be your half-way point. AIt is a Jellystone Park Campground. Water slide into a swimming lake, carpet golf, swimming pool, paddle boats, canoes and kayaks, movies, crafts, scheduled activities many weekends, "Hey" ride (no hay, because of alergies, but a tram style ride), catch and release fiching, gift shop, sometimes they have Karaoke and contests, and you even get to meet Yogi Bear! I went camping this 4th of july weekend and they had a schedule full of activities. They are really good with kids too.

I also will give a plug for the jellystone park in madison Fla.WE have camped there several times and my daughter loves it!My last visit was over Thanksgiving,We had a blast! You brought the side dish they supplied the turkey, ham and fixing's and drinks......You have never seen so much food at a campground before.I have also been there during july 4th ,now that was one crowded camp ground!

Although it's not really halfway to WDW, we always stay at the Tallahassee RV Park. We live on the West Bank of New Orleans and it takes us about 8 hours to Tallassee Park. For you, living in Slidell, it would be closer to 7 hours. That leaves us approx. 5 hours the next day. We don't unhitch, we just pull in and hook up the electricity and water which makes it easy to leave very early in the morning. We just can't wait to get to FW! :Pinkbounc You can check out the campground at http://www.tallahasseervpark.com/
