I go by there all the time. Still have never tried it. I'm constantly on the lookout for a replacement of my beloved Jerry's steak and cheese. Maybe I'll give it a try.

For the best shakes from a Burger joint try JAKE's WAYBACK BURGERS. Preferably the Dover DE Location. Otherwise there is a working Dairy Farm that has an ice stand best ice cream and shakes in the state

Love Freddies. Closest one is in Lexington for us. Gotta have a jalapeno pepper jack double steakburger and cheese curds.

My experiences are the same, Jim. I loved S&S growing up. There were all over I-55 in MO when I was a kid. Now it seems in the last 5 years or so the few that are left open aren't usually very clean and the service is somewhere between meh and miserable. Freddy's (another KS original) is a good surrogate, but I need some chili mac on the menu.

Another good spot if you ever get to KS/OK/northern TX is Braum's (yet another KS original started in Emporia, KS). Similar to Freddy's or Culver's, but all the dairy comes from their farm in OK.

steak and shake chili, burger and fries, dad would take us for a Sunday drive to normal IL, the original restaurant about an hour south of where we lived

when we lived in Nebraska, RUNZA was the go to sandwich

At one point I lived within 2 miles of both Krystals and White Castle. Would give Krystal the nod on the burgers, a little less greasy and also like the chile cheese pups and the chiks, White Castle has the great krinkle fries and the super thick shakes.

In and out is very good. Maybe better then white castle. At least there is no Carl's jr. In the conversation.

Dont assume, us campers are adamant about burger joints. Its almost a religious thing.

Haven't been there in 10 years, but this place is the best. Chile chease burgers and dogs. Plus sometimes at like 330 am you will see celebrities, but i never let them cut me in line. The food was too good for that. Lol. Yea, I got yelled at a few times. Thats just the jersey in me.
