I tried to look back in the archives, but I'm only seeing two pages worth of threads. :confused3 I know that can't be right. I've lurked for a while here and there! Are there fire rings at The Fort? Are campfires ever allowed at your campsite or do you have to go to the Chip and Dale Sing-a-long for a campfire? I'm still working on DH, but hopefully someday. :goodvibes

I'm a lurker too because my 1st FWC will be in Dec. My lurking revealed that unless u bring ur own there is no fire pit. The only fire pits that can be used are those with solid tops (no wire mesh.) Someone had posted the actual rule page with pics. IF u can find it! LOL's!

As pp said, no open fires! Small enclosed fires only. Actually from what we've seen over the years, most people do not hang around the campsites too much. I know we don't, as there's too much going on, and we *live* in the parks.

There are exceptions, and I sure there'll be some that post here, but we haven't seen too many at a given time.

Good luck with working on you dh to camp. FW is great! :)

WorldWacky,

I think the active DIS pages only show threads active in the last 60 days. Older threads can be accessed through the "Search this Forum" link on the upper right hand side of the thread listing.

Open wood fires are not permitted at the sites. There are no fire rings provided by Disney. They do not even allow small wood fires in the bbq qrill which is provided at each site.

However, you you bring a fire pit, you can have a fire if the pit is of the right type.

I used the search on the term "fire pits" and came up with this thread from December http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2824383&highlight=fire+pits. Basically, if it is raised off the ground, fully enclosed, and has a solid top, it should be permitted.

Bama ED

PS - of course this is if WDW/Florida is not under a fire/drought warning in which case even pits may not be allowed. :firefight Oh, and what's DH's problem? Do I need to have a talk with him? ;)

Thanks for the replies everyone. And thanks Bama Ed, but I think he'll cave in before too long. :goodvibes We have a 1999 Starcraft Venture pop-up and he's concerned about traveling that far with it. Since he's a teacher, we can really only make the long trek with built in stops along the way during the summer. He worries about the heat too. While our pop-up does have ac, I don't know if it'll be enough for Florida. That said, it only took me a year before he caved to a cruise, so I think my chances are pretty good! ::yes::
