Has anyone been to the sing-a-long at FW? I was really interested in going, but I'm not really sure how I can make the time for it. I was hoping that we could do Mickey's BBQ, then head over to the campfire singalong, but am not sure of the times. Does anyone know what time the signalong starts? We will be at WDW in June.

BUMP! I would love to know more too. Is this only for on-site guests?

We have been several times, it is a lot of fun as long as it's not the BUSY season. This time of the year should be pretty good, but summer, WHOA!

There are two marshmallow roasting areas to each side of the stage and movie screen, just be sure to be aware of your surroundings (other children and parents alike. . .).

The pre-movie show is cute, and the movie, well, you have probably seen it a thousand times, but all in all is a fun experience for your little ones. You can be the judge if they are getting bored with the movie; it's the last thing going and a lot of folks leave early.

Hope this helps.

I grew up camping at Fort Wilderness and took my husband there for his first trip in 2009. The campfire is a lot of fun. It is also a chance to see and hug Chip and Dale. At the concession stand they sell s'more makings and awesome chocolate chip cookies that we didn't see anywhere else. If you don't feel like staying for the movie you can walk to the beach and see the electric water patent and Magic Kingdom fireworks with the music piped in. That is definitely a treat! If you want more opinions definitely look over on the camping at Disney world board. There are lots of Fort experts happy to share their opinions!

We like it a lot - but I agree, tough to fit it into the schedule. Some points I've seen:

They start it 'about' dark - so in June maybe 8-ish?? Not sure on that.

Getting there staying at a different resort is kind of a pain- bus to MK, boat to FW then FW bus to the campsite. On the way back - if MK isn't open - FW bus to font of resort, WDW bus to DTD, transfer bus to your own resort bus, then back to resort. So really you HAVE to really want to do it!!

We have gone when we've stayed offsite too - a bit easier as you drive and then just have to take internal FW bus to the campsite and then back again.

My kids really like it a lot but it is kind of an ordeal getting there. Next trip we're planning on doing the early show of Hoop De Doo and then heading over to the campfire/sing a long afterward.

I took my 4 yr old son last month and he had fun. It was a bit of an adventure getting there from POP and back, but not a big deal since that was all that we planned that night. I would just play it by ear, and go if you're ready to do something non-park related. We had 6 day PH tickets, and were able to do a lot in the parks in a shorter amount of time since it wasn't a busy time of year.

We finally made it to the Campfire our last trip, it was the highlight of DD8's trip! She wanted to back again! I would definitely try to fit it in. Marshmellow roasting gets a little a messy...and it is not the kids! I almost punched the guy (I am a female!) that not once but twice dropped his marshmellow on my head! He was obnoxious and pushy. They do sell the kits, but I would recommend bringing your own if you can. Also bring a blanket or something bc as the movie goes on the kids start to get a little sleepy. There are some rustic benches and also metal risers to sit on. It's a really nice way to spend a relaxing evening. Disney downtime if you will....

We went in September and loved it. We were staying at the Wilderness Lodge and just had to take one bus ride over to the site.
My twins were 4 at the time and really enjoyed meeting Chip and Dale and of course, toasting the marshmallows. Of course, we discovered that they really didn't like eating marshmallows, just toasting them. If you do bring little kids, bring extra wet wipes as the chocolate melts fast (for the s'mores).

We felt it was definitely worth it as with young children, we wouldn't be staying out late at the parks anyway plus they love singing and dancing so a win-win situation for us.

If we had been staying at one of the non-MK resorts we may not have done it just because of the travel times and getting back in time for bed.

We went last August and it was SO FUN and hardly anyone was there. In fact, hardly anyone was in the parks the week we went (week before Labor day). I plan to go during our next trip. This time I'm packing our own smores kits though because $8 was a little pricey!

Just a question about the marshmellow roasting/smores making. I would like to take the kids to this on the night that we are doing the HDDR. If we brng our own graham crackers, chocolate and marshmellows, do they supply the sticks to roast the marshmellows or are we looking at purchasing them?

:) Thanks!

The sticks are .50 :)

Just curious - why do you recommend bringing your own? I was thinking of taking our kids this summer (maybe) and had planned to buy the kits because we are offsite and I'd feel like I needed to contribute something.............which may be silly, it's just me

Did anyone have a problem doing it as an offsite visitor?

Because they are expensive! $8 for a mini box of graham crackers, a few marshmallows and 2 regular size hershey bars
