Hi all!

Thanks to all the great tips on these boards I think we're about ready for our first family disneyworld trip.
I was hoping the seasoned travellers can help me out.
I'm not sure if we should take an ipad for taking pictures or a regular camera . The advantage of the ipad is I can take quick shots in rapid succession of my kids reactions. However, carrying it around with me at the parks worries me. My small Fuji camera is ok, but after one shot, there is a 5-10 sec delay, so I can miss a great reaction!

So, what do you all find works, I'm not against buying a new camera my Fuji one is older and the zoom isn't great. !
Help!

We have a photography board here, but may I also recommend the great folks over at Steve's Digicams? I personally wouldn't take the ipad. It's very annoying to others behind you at parades, etc when folks decide to hold their ipad up to film the parade or fireworks. You obstruct their view. It's rude.

Thanks, I found the photography thread and have re posted

I say leave the Ipad in the safe in your room . Water and hard knocks will get the Ipad , as will the hot sun . A camera that will fit in your pocket will work under most conditions and you will get all the photos of the children you need . :thumbsup2 . With digital cameras it is so nice that you can delete bad photos right away . Best of luck to you, have fun on your first trip to WDW . We will see you all back again soon you will love this vacation . :dance3: .:cheer2:  pixiedust:

Here are a few good tips for newbies filming video, don't try to be fancy zooming in and out all the time, it blurs as you zoom and takes focus away from what your filming, zomming when needed only is fine. When you do zoom remember to be a steady as possible as your shakes are amplified.

Also if your not using a tripod or mounting your cam on a fixed position try and hold in a firm rigid position so you are comfy holding the camera still as there is nothing worse then shaky or blurred videos/photos :thumbsup2

The Kodak Playsport is the best option for DisneyWorld. It is Waterproof....did you hear that... WATERPROOF.... and at a pretty decent price. I got 2 for $100 on sale before our last trip plus a flotation wrist bracelet in case they dropped it anywhere including the water. We took them everywhere, including the Water Parks... did I mention it was water proof. It films in 720 too, so the quality is awesome, even filming underwater!! Oh, and this time around, I wasn't the one with the camera. I gave the kids the camera, and I made use of the Photopass. I rarely took pictures or video unless they asked me to do it for them. This little camera is a must have for any age at WDW. They hold SD cards and removable batteries, so you can purchase an extra. I rarely changed the batteries, but I do recommend having an extra of each.

Definitely don't take your tablet! It might be great for in the room but not the parks. There has to be some inexpensive point and shoot cameras that will take as good pictures as an ipad and in rapid succession. I'm sure the photo forum will help.

We rent a DSLR every trip from ATS Rentals. There is a company called "Kingdom Camera" or something like that.

You will not be sorry.

During our last trip, we noticed a Grandma with a GoPro on a headband as she and the kids/grandkids were getting on Test Track. Now my youngest two are bound and determined even more to have a GoPro.
