I searched the Disney website but couldn't find anything regarding possible camera restrictions. All I could find was "no professional cameras". I don't know what constitutes a professional camera. My husband has a Canon 40D camera and routinely carries a 70-200mm type lens in his camera bag. Will this be a problem in the parks?

I have the Nikon equivalent and have carried in up to a 300mm lens and have not had a problem - my most recent DL trip was two years ago though.

Canon 350D and 300 mm, no problems in November.

There was an issue with security telling people they couldn't take their camera about two weeks before we travelled in 2008 - I was so scared they'd refuse me, but no problems. As one of my travel mates said: "As long as you look enough like a tourist, they won't care." ;)

I never had a problem when I had a DSLR and a couple of lenses. There was a thread about 18 months ago where people had issues with getting some of their cameras in, but it appears to have gone away.

Yep, I remember that thread. Most folks think that Disney put in the restrictions to "protect" certain celebs. The "no professional cameras" rule is meant to exclude papparazi. They only seem to enforce it when they're expecting a celeb, though. Most of the time, it seems that anything goes. But if there is a celeb coming who has had problems with papparazi, I'd expect they may exclude a DSLR with a 300mm lens. But that's a low probability event.

I had a Sony alpha 100 with a 200mm lens there last week. No problem. (I also ran into 2 other ladies with a Sony alpha while getting my picture with Tiana. I've never even seen that many alphas in one store at the same time!) :goodvibes
