I want to get a new point & shoot before our next trip, which isn't until next Dec. but I'm getting it this Dec as my gift, hehe.
I had gotten some suggestions & I think I've narrowed it down to 3.
Canon Powershot SD1300IS
Canon Powershot SD1400IS
Canon Powershot A3100IS
I realize they are all very similiar except price basically. The SD1400IS has 14.1 instead of the 12.1 of the other 2. But, are they all decent cameras? Which would you pick? I guess I was of the mindset that the most expensive is probably the better but I'm really not sure, I'm not a camera savvy person. My last 2 I've bought weren't great, 1 Nikon, 1 Kodak Easyshare. The current one I'm using was given to me by my mom after my DH left our other out in the rain at a Nascar race.:scared1: & I'm just not happy with the pics. Unless the subject is absolutely, 100% motionless, it's ok. But any movement it blurs. Any thing that's more than 5' away, is all blurry. I need something decent for Disney as well as capturing good pics of the kids.
Help! :sad2:

The 3 are all pretty similar in specs. Biggest difference seems to be megapixels, and the SD1400 shoots HD video where the others don't. If the HD video matters to you I'd go with the 1400, if it doesn't then I'd go for the cheapest of the 3.

I could get shot saying this, but I don't know that you would see the difference between 12 and 14 megapixels.

Yea, so I don't worry too much for the video taking. & I've never understood the big difference in the pixels, it makes a difference if you're printing larger prints, right?
 Ok, so I'm gonna go with the cheaper one then, haha. :thumbsup2 Money saved is Disney money!!:rolleyes1

Jsut a note on the anyhting more than 5' away is blurry... are you sure you don't have the camera set on macro mode? I've known a number of people with point and shoots that had similar problems and this was why.

Now as far as the cameras.. from what you listed I'd go with the SD1400.

I could not agree more. Most people will never notice the difference between 6MP and 18MP. Do not forget to consider that most computer displays are showing less than 2MP. To a point, more MPs offer better printing abilities, but many people do not print anymore and the MP hype becomes nothing more than a marketing ploy.

Personally, I can hardly tell the difference between the old 6MP K100d I had to my current 12MP K-x.

Yes I agree unless you plan to print poster sized images don't let the MP be determining factor. I'd look at the range of zoom and HD functions as stated for video purposes over MP. They just aren't need unless you are commercial and plan to print very large. :confused3

No idea on the macro setting. My mom gave us this camera when DH left our other out in the rain at a Nascar race. That camera technically worked but everything turned out purple. She had long since thrown out the manuel & I usually just leave it on auto, it has very few settings so I don't bother trying. It's also very slow to take a pic, so I'm just wanting another.
I'm so torn on which to get. :rolleyes1 I know my MIL & SIL both have the SD1300 & love it.

If the old camera is an canon, you can see if you can get your new canon camera through the canon customer loyalty program, which will sell you a refurbished camera cheaper than new if you trade in your old broken canon camera.
