Looks like a few of us are in the same boat here. I also have a dead camera and am in the hunt for a new one. To be honest, I actually prefer 35 mm cameras as far as ease of use and picture quality, but I wanted to get the best point and shoot possible. I would love to get one of the cool Nikons like a D40 or higher model (like what the PhotoPass people use), but I know that a bulky camera like that would get on my nerves hanging around my neck at DLR. I like to have something that I can shove in my purse. The problem is that many of the point and shoots do not take decent nighttime pictures. I mean, they don't have to be PERFECT, but I would like to get some fairly good night shots. I have actually heard that the Canon Power Shots do not take good night shots at all, so I was reluctant to go that route. WazowksiLOVER (whose wonderful photos have graced many of the threads on this board) currently uses a Nikon D40, but has said that her old Sony Cybershot was pretty good for a point and shoot when she used it. So I am inclined to stick with the Sony. I am thinking if Jasmine liked it well enough, it must be pretty decent!! The problem is, I don't know which model of Sony Cybershot to get. I have heard of some folks having good luck and taking better pictures with older models, but not as much with the newer ones, though you would think the opposite would be the case!
