Camera or dedicated camcorder?

Background, I had a canon 5dIII. Sold it because I just wasn't using it as much as I planned and it was big and a hassle. I have a Canon T2i and an older panasonic camcorder. (along with some just ok p&s; never been happy with most for all shooting conditions) The camcorder needs an upgrade because at home with kids the low light recording is horrible. I was looking at purchasing a Canon Pro camcorder. However, I also want to get a camera to fill the void of not taking a dslr everywhere. Quick pictures of kids, out and about. DISNEY. Should I consider one that does both? Recommendations on equipment. Price not sure, just looking for options. Thank you.

There are some advantages of having separate devices, including the ability to use both at the same time. But still cameras now can produce amazing video... A lot of professional video is being shot with dSLRs and mirrorless cameras. For casual shooting without a huge set-up, some mirrorless cameras are very very impressive, as well as some of the 1" enthusiast cameras. For example, look at something like the Sony RX10ii for video and stills.

I like my new Panasonic ZS60, which can shoot in 4K mode and I can extract photos from the video clips, they are a slightly lower resolution (I think about 16MP instead of 18MP), but really talk about your burst mode.

both of my DSLR bodies shoot video. But it is not my thing. I have maybe 15 mins of video shot in 6 years between the two of them. I do have a GoPro, but I am even debating wether I should bring that or not. I am all about the stills and telling my story that way.
