Not a real camera bag, but it worked for me..

Last month, I carried the 6MDH for the first few days. Then it got annoying because my camera was always around my neck but I was also carrying an almost empty bag. So I started using DH's Mountainsmith lumbarpack, I can fit the camera in the pack if I want to, otherwise the camera stayed on my neck; extra battery, memory and speedlite goes in the lumbarpack. Most days, I only carried one extra lens and that went in DH's backpack.

However, the lumbarpack does not have any padding, so you have to be extra careful.

I need a little help here...I am trying to decide on two bags right now...it's between the Lowpro Fastpack 250 or the Tamrac Aero 80. Both can carry a laptop, and both have independent access to camera gear/backpack grear. Both have good reviews, so the main difference that I see is the method to get to the photog gear...Any suggestions, I also looked at the Adventure 6 & 7, but that takes alot to get the photog gear out. I like the fact that I can carry my laptop in the same back for my carry on. The purpose of this bag will be mainly family travel, large amusement parks (WDW), etc. Thanks,

I recently got the Fast Pack 250 and traveled for 12 days with it. I had a laptop and various camera gear. I was extremely happy with the Fast Pack – comfortable, versatile, functional, and secure. The primary appeal was the accessibility and I am impressed at how well the side access works. I also found there to be enough room, unlike the Adventure 7 which I also have, to include non-photography gear (e.g., sweatshirt, hat, etc).

I use a Domke F-803 messenger bag when I carry the tripod and extra lenses in the parks or airports. It's big and heavy when loaded. For days when I leave the tripod or carry just one extra lens I use a smaller Domke F5XB (velcro removed) which I carry messenger style. Can be worn around the waist or shoulder. I hang water from the sides of both.

Dittos on trying them with your gear in a store. I thought I'd like the Lowpro sling until I tried it. I could not get the hang of it and looked pretty silly trying to figure it out. Eventually I did and thankfully I went without my DSs. They would've abandoned me in fits of laughter.
I've tried backpacks but having to take it off and put it on everytime I wanted something out of the bag wasn't comfortable either.

My ideal bag might be the Crumpler 5 mil. I have yet to find one in a store I can check out. It's bigger than my small Domke.Now that I have the Sigma 30 I left the Nikon 50 in the hotel rather than try and squish it all. I missed some shots and it comes in colors I'm tired of hot black.

Just came back and am preparing my photos for the CD. I've checked stitch kingdom and Disney's PhotoPass page, but can't find anything about adding pictures from the Photo Gallery. Can I add as many of those as I want to my CD also or is there an additional charge?

Are you talking about the filler photos (pics of castle, resorts, etc)? Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think you can put those on your CD...they are just to use if you make a picture book. If they let you put them on the CD, you would technically have "rights" to them and I don't think Disney would let you do that. I've gotten a couple of CDs and the only thing on them are the photopass pics taken of us and any enhancements that I added on after my vaca.

Glad someone posted this...any ladies have advice about "stylish yet practical" bags? I'm used to carrying a baggallini wallet bag around WDW (read: small). This will be my first trip with my new baby (not a child...a Canon DSLR and all the extras!). I'm a little nervous about the extra gear. But more importantly, I want something that doesn't look like a camera bag. (I have a lowepro bag already but it's ugly and really bulky).

OK, here is a photo of me with my Crumpler $5mil bag. This was after a long day at AK so we all look a little wilted, but you can see the bag. I'm no fashion diva by any means, but I am a little picky about what bags I carry. Hope this helps.

I am looking for a bag that would hold my DSLR with lens and an extra lens, and external flash. I was hoping that I could get a bag that would be able to hold my camera equipment as well as the other things I need for the park-- wallet, keys, sunscreen, handiwipes. I have three kids, no babies. I didn't want to carry anything huge. Wasn't sure if there was anyone who has done this in the past. Not sure if I could use a regular bag or if I should buy a sling camera bag or backpack. Will listen to anyone else's thoughts or experiences.

Here's my dilemma, were going in August and like previous years it WILL be hot and humid and I sweat a lot. I have a Tamrac Velocity 7 sling pack but I need more room. I've been looking at the Lowepro Slingshot 200 which will fit my needs. I'm worried that it might make me sweat even more and possilbly soak into the padding.VERY GROSS, I'm sorry but in need of suggestions. Here's what I want to carry in it..... Alpha 100, KM 50, Tamron 28-75, KM 70-210 ( that's part of the issue because of size but not carrying it everyday only to AK ) a flash and accessories. Maybe a Sigma 30mm( as a Fathers Day present) Any ideas?

It does...thank you. I was looking at the Crumplers online last night. Not too bad. What are you able to fit in there in terms of camera/lenses?

The interior is divided into 3 compartments. I put my camera (Nikon D80) in the middle with a lens attached. I can fit a lens or external flash in each of the side compartments. I also slip a CP filter in next to the flash. The flash fits with an omnibounce diffuser attached. I keep a lens cleaning cloth, small notepad and pen in the mesh pocket inside the flap. I keep memory cards, batteries and a small flashlight in the front pocket. At WDW, I don't always carry the external flash, so I will put my wallet and other "purse" stuff in that side compartment. I also have a lowepro lens case that attaches to the exterior loops for when I want to take extra stuff. That is one of the problems or accumulating stuff - you tend to want to take it all with you. Carrying a small bag to the parks forces me to only take what I need. But, I can comfortably take the camera with a lens attached and two other lenses. Or, the camera with lens attached, flash and another lens.

I saw a tab "upload" on the photopass site yesterday when I was going through our photos from last week's trip. Clicked on it and it looks like you can upload up to 160 of *your own* photos to the site to be added to your photo cd. I'm assuming that you would only do this so that you can use their borders and such on your photos.

Can anyone verify that this is true before I attempt to upload some of my own photos?

I don't know if you could add your photos to the CD...didn't try it but I don't see why you couldn't. They would be releasing the rights to something you already had the rights to! I know you definately can add your own pics for use in the photobook however.

You can upload your own photos but they will not be on the CD. You can only use your uploaded photos if you are making and ordering a photobook.

Thanks! I just plan on getting my pre-paid cd. I thought it would be cute to have some of their borders and such on my own photos. I especially love the one with "where dreams come true" and tinkerbell at the top corner.

Just the thread I was looking to start! Ha! Ha! It's already here!

I just ordered (and received today) the Lowepro FLIPSIDE 200. I wanted something MY HUSBAND could carry our tripod in! Ha! Ha! (again)

I agree that it will be a bit of a burden to take it off all the time, and the SLINGSHOT would have been so much more convenient, but I kept reading posts on here about people's backs hurting.

..and I've been down the route before with other bags, so I decided to go for the FLIPSIDE instead.

I like the idea of a backpack, and for what it's worth, my 11YO carries a backpack in the park too. We've all gotten really good at backpacking it around the parks--ponchos, autograph books, water bottles, pin lanyards...you get the picture....

So, this will just be one more...the only thing I am dreading is this: "Greg, take the backpack off! Greg! Greg! GREG!!! Didn't you hear me? Hurry up! I need a difference lens!"

On 2nd thought...maybe I just need to wear the backpack!!

Now, on to the Crumplers...never heard of those (fairly new here)...off to surf and look those up! It looks nice....

Has anyone here had any hands on with these two camera bags?

I dont really care to carry a laptop around with my camera that is one of the things I dont like about many of this type of cases, but the options or more storage in a easier to manage shape size makes me keep looking.

I've never used those bags specifically, but I've used a Lowepro backpack before... it looked similar (sans the laptop slot), with lots of cubby holes for lenses and such. I really disliked it, though. I don't like backpack style bags, I prefer something I can access without having to take the whole bag off.

I use a Domke F-6 bag, which I am a HUGE fan of:

It's all over-the-shoulder for me! But your mileage may vary. =)

Edit: I also added padding to the strap by taking an old fuzzy-fleece noseband from a horse bridle and velcro'ing it around the strap at shoulder height. Very comfy.

You really can't beat that canon bag for the price (even if you are a Noik).
