personally i hate backpacks but wish others would do this...i am so sick of feeling around for lens caps i can't see it would almost make me convert to one

This isn't one of your 3 choices but I have to throw it into the mix. I bought this bag to use on my trip to Europe and absolutely LOVE it!

Can you tell I like this bag?! Anyway - check it out. It's one of the best purchases I have made.
That sounds really cool, and the price sounds like something I could actually justify. I like the shoulder bag I currently use for storing my equipment (not that it ever stays stored for long), but it gets old having to loop it around my neck. The one you posted is larger than I'd need for my stuff right now; I carry a D80 and currently only have one lens -- had to sell my beloved D100 and three lenses a couple of years back when money got a little too tight), but I plan to add more. Sometimes I carry a SB-600 and an iPod (for downloading in the field -- it is slow, but I already own it), plus various odds and ends. Looks like it I could stuff other things in it as well, and I like the idea of clipping the camera to the straps on the backpack.

Definitely have to keep this in mind.

paint your lens caps...

Very nice feature to have the contrast! I like this bag, although I think I would prefer a sling to a backpack.

Kata KT DR-467 Digital Rucksack

It holds all of my camera gear (including my tripod!) and my laptop with room to spare for things like travel guides, a jacket and a water bottle. And even with all of that, it's still comfortable to carry.

It's built really well. It has lots of pockets for organizing with zippers that are concealed. It has this cool hard padding on the outside of the camera compartment to prevent "slice and go" theft. It has a strap to secure it onto a rolling cart or suitcase handle. It's very sturdy and I feel like my equipment is very safely stored.

The interior is bright yellow to make finding black equipment easier. The compartment that holds the camera equipment tips forward and comes completely out which is really nice. Plus, that creates a nice hiding place underneath it for things like passports and money. It's completely customizable with 6 velcro dividers.

It has D-rings on the straps. Also, the chest strap has a slider so that you can adjust it to the level that fits you best.

It has a pocket on the side for a tripod or water bottle with a strap to hold the top of the tripod. When not in use, it can be zipped away.

The computer compartment holds a 17" laptop, plus a few magazines or a couple of Bryan Peterson books! There is a strong, sturdy strap on top to carry it like a hand bag which is also handy.

It easily fits into overhead bin on planes or under your seat. I have back problems too and although it was heavy with all my crap in it, I had no problem lugging it around Europe.

I did a lot of research before choosing this bag and I'm totally glad I got it. It's perfect! And the price is great - only $61! I would have paid double that for this pack.

I need help picking a small bag for our Disney trip. I am only going to take my 40D and tamron 28-75 lens so I just need a bag to hold that and possibly a small video camera. I don't want anything bulky to carry around but want my camera protected. I have a a large gadget bag and a large backpack at home but I don't want to take either of those b/c they are just too much.

So, what is good for holding just the 40D to carry around the parks?

I always carry my camera around my neck so I can't personally recommend a bag that I use but I've seen this bag in the store. Looks like it would be handy for carrying a few things in the parks. The manager of the Ritz Store uses a larger one when he travels. The Velocity 7 or 9, I for get which. There are a few different sizes to choose from. Might be worth checking out.

Oh, I like that one! I much prefer slings to over the shoulder or backpacks.

I didn't see that you could store more than one lens in it though.....it looks like just camera and one attached lens?

It says it'll fit another small lens but they seem to always over estimate. The Velocity 7 might be better to carry more stuff. If I carried a bag I think I would try one of these. I just happened to pick it up one day in the store while looking for a bag more for storage and portability of all my stuff. They also make it so you can attach their add on case to the bag.

personally i have been considering this one, mainly because it has the modular system so you can attach lens cases etc if need be. i have a tamrac system 3 i really like( shoulder messenger type) with the mods. so i can exchange as needed with out a lot of fuss when i want to go smaller. it holds the body and up to a 7"lens or 2 smaller lenses and comes in black i think, rather than that hideous blue ;)

Thanks so much guys. These all look nice. I am worried with the first that it will be too small since my Tamron is longer than 4" and the second one looks as big as the Canon backpack I have..lol

This looks nice.. Where can you purchase this one from?

Thanks so much! (always nice to have something other than black too since my other bags are black..haha)

Lowepro Fastpack series. I just got the Fastpack 350 and its perfect for me. It has the quick side flaps for easy opening just like the Slingshot series, except its in back pack form. The 100 or 250 should suit ur needs. I got mine for $98 at Adorama.com during their father's day sales ;)

iknow they have it at adorama( if i recall it's around $40 there), and i think amazon. i have a dodd camera nearby that sells it but don't think they are national. tamrac has a find a location thing on their site for online and by zipcode

Does anyone own the Tenba Gen3 photo sling bag? It is on sale this week on Adorama for $49.95 marked down from $99.95. I saw a video about it when I googled this bag, it does look pretty nice. Any input from owners would be welcome. Thanks.

stitchkingdom.com This is a very informative site. It is easy to take advantage of the photopass system. The photographers are dressed so they are easily identified (they wore vests when I was there) Just ask them if they can take your pic, they them give you a photopass card (looks like a credit card) keep this card handy, each time you see a photographer, hand them your card and they scan the pics they took of your family on the same card. Ask if they can do any special things with the pics. We got to hold Tinker Bell at MK, point at Stitch at HS, you can hold Simba at AK, duel a pirate at MK. There may be more, those are just the ones we did. They digitally place the item into the pic :-) you hold out an empty hand, look at it with surprise in your eyes..... wala~TinkerBell is in your hand when you get the pic:goodvibes
We took advantage of EVERY photographer we saw, we even made return trips to get the castle at night, the color is amazing:thumbsup2
Have fun! Hope this helps:thumbsup2

Erica is exactly right. What she didn't say is that after your trip, you can go online and look at all of those photos - add borders, signatures, etc. Once you've got them edited, you can order them through Disney in a book, or individually. You can also get them on a Photopass CD. If you pre-order it, it's $100 (http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx) or if you order if after you come back, it's $125. You get full photographer's release on the photos so you can print them whereever/however you want when you get the CD.

I managed a photopass share through TourGuideMike (if you haven't already, sign up for his service through the banners from the theme park pages - one of the best $20 I even spent) that allowed us to share the price of the PhotoCD. At the end of the our trips (all within about a 2 week period) 10 of us added our photopasses to a presetup account. When I got the discs (4 of them) I copied and sent them out to everyone. It cost us $15 apiece instead of the $100. Woo hoo!

The DISboards do these shares also: Disboards google search for photopass

One of my favorite photopass pictures is below. It shows that at least some of the photopass photographers have at least a little understanding of exposure/etc - either that or they teach them well. :)

Good luck! Feel free to reply back here or PM me if you have any questions. What I think I like best about the pictures is I'm actually in some of the pictures instead of behind the lens.

edit: jfulcer beat me by 1 minute with this info ;)

One thing that seems less widely known is that you can pre-order the Photopass CD for $100 instead of the $120 they normally charge. And if you decide when you get home that you don't want to order it, you can get a refund.
