The quality of the file itself should be good enough to print at least an 8x10. If not there is something wrong with the CD. The prints made right on site come out beautiful. The colors are vibrant and there is an issue with noise only when the picture is underexposed.

Photopass Photographers are not allowed to arrange people for character shots... that is the character's job. They are supposed to be the silent partner, so all they can do is arrange themselves and call for your eyes.

Icon shots... yes they are supposed to be slightly out of focus. They can get an amazing shot of the castle but then the guests in front of it would be soft and slightly out of focus. However, those shots of the castle in this thread... it doesn't look like the camera was even on the tripod. That should not happen. Maybe if they would have looked at the image they could have fixed the problem. Unfortunately, the photographers never see the images on the camera and some never at all.
The image goes directly to the pda to be sent wirelessly to the system so the image is never available to review on the camera.

Also why did you need to pay for your pictures at Cinderella's Royal Table? They are included with the meal.

I think the good thing with the PhotoPass photographer is that your whole family can be in the picture!!

Don't forget, you can ask them to take a picture with your own camera too!

Many of them could use some time here on the photography board.

Many of them do spend time on this board.

Obviously that's not the case, otherwise we wouldn't be hearing all these complaints. Any camera is capable of putting out lousy photos, I don't think anyone's accusing them of using junk cameras, but apparently several Photopass photographers are not using them properly. I'm glad to see that you are attempting to do better, though.

No, they're not. At least, they weren't in January, when we ate on the dining plan.

We did eat dinner there. Possibly the breakfast (using two dining plan credits) tosses it in. But for us, it was a rather royal $32 or so fee. It was also the only place that they gave us a hard time about getting smoothies for drinks, after we'd gotten them for a week on the DP without any problems, and our waitress was very quick to get defensive and tell us that there's no way that we got them at the other places. I would have spoken to the manager but we were running late for a DVC appointment.

Needless to say, I'm not rushing back there, especially when all the meals are two credits now. Still, the picture did turn out fantastic.

The original issue in this thread was the quality of the print not the picture itself. In which case may be the CD and by all means in that case you should receive a refund or a new CD.

Since then everything is included in the meal price. This is completely off topic... but we ate there last night and I must say I wasn't impressed either. It was a year from the date that my fiance proposed so we wanted to do something nice to celebrate. I really felt the service was lacking and that they were trying to rush us. When you pay 50 dollars a meal it shouldn't be that way.

Since I kind of trashed some of the photopass photographers in an earlier post, I need to give one a compliment - we ate lunch at the castle in Norway for the Princess character meal and I did buy the photos that the photopass photographer took. The photos were excellent! So, whoever that photopass person was, she was great!

I thought the same thing about wasting the $100. I liked my pictures better and even the ones I had to trust my family to take came out well.

I've written to Disney via the PhotoPass website, but was hoping someone here would know the answer, since it may take five days for Disney to reply.

Can I include the beautiful, professional photos from the "Disney's PhotoGallery" tab on the PhotoPass website on the photo CD I plan to order?

Or are those photos only available for various print projects & the PhotoMovie?

It say: "You can use them anywhere you use your photos." But it does not say specifically you cannot include them on the photo CD.

Does anyone know for sure?

Thank you for your interest in Disney's PhotoPass CD. The CD will only contain your photos that were taken in the theme parks by Disney's PhotoPass photographers. It will not include any professional stock photos from Disney's PhotoPass Gallery. Thank you for your time and have a magical day!

Well... I took the plunge after my younger years of film slr's and got a ...
nikon D 80 kit w/ 18-135 + waiting for a nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-6G VR lens and a couple of filters.

NOW...the quest is on:eek:

background:

I have absolutely hated carrying "tons" of stuff into the parks and usually take bare minimum, hands free (like tickets and a few bucks/cc in a waterproof case around my neck, H2O bottle)...will certainly need to change my attitude now.:lmao: At least...the days/nights I take the camera....
be doing extensive travelling so need a bag for it all + maybe a top loader for the day..

The Quest ?? Oh yes...

The "quest" is looking for the "not too big...not toooooo little ... just right" case for this eqpt + battery, card and charger. Don't think I'll need any more lenses..Hummmm.
Do I want a tamrac, lowepro slingshot, backpack, Hummm...convertible trekker backpack, fanny pack..seems too heavy for me...:scared:
SO MANY choices out there........
......Your thoughts.....PLEASE??

I just bought the Lowepro Slingbag 200AW. It is very nice and it seems like it has a lot of room. The 100 just seemed a little small, and the 300 the photo guy at the store said it was a Monster. I have my 18-55 attached to my D50, my 70-300. 50mm in the pockets, and plenty of room for my other stuff. Might want to go into a store that sells them just to check them out and talk to the camera guy. BTW it is very comfy to walk around with fully loaded. I was doing it yesterday and my sister kept making fun of me, but o well :)

Good luck.

(incidentally this is my third bag since getting my camera in May :) )

after months of looking, I got a canon backpack( around $40) to carry all my stuff and keep it corralled but it is to heavy to lug so right now i am using the little camcorder bag i got our last Disney trip to keep my film slr in..( didn't have nearly the stuff with that one for some reason). it's a no name Samsonite but has held up perfectly for almost 3 yrs and was $14. it fits over your shoulder or around your waist, has plenty of room for my rebel xt and 28-135 plus one lens of my choice and hoping it will also fit my next zoom lens if i ever decide what i am getting...it has zippers for passes etc, a flap over top that keeps it all dry and i can squeeze in my card wallet, a few filters and extra bat. which is about all i plan on dragging around all day with me...the backpack can stay in the room with the other stuff and the lens can rest in the safe for" just in case" i want them one of the days...now i just have to get the money to go to wdw and I'll be all set:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: i searched and searched and didn't find one i liked better than what i had at home:rolleyes1

Why the charger? Can't that just go in your other luggage? A spare battery should give more than enough juice for probably even a few days.

I used a toploading holster bag for a couple days and was pretty happy with it, but it was of a cheap construction and fell apart after 2-3 days of use. I'm sure the name-brand ones (like Tamrac, Lowepro, etc) are much better. Not much room for extra lenses, though. You can get separate belt-mount lens pouches, though - not a bad way to go if you are just going between two lenses.

Like Jann1033, I eventually ended up staying with my old case, adding an Op/Tech SOS strap to help lighten the feel. It's just a old medium-sized Tamrac "box" but can fit a ton of stuff in it. Every lens doesn't get its own little padded compartment like on the new bags, but as long as you don't play hockey with the bag, I don't think anything will be damaged, and it would take a huge new bag to hold all this stuff.

First off, congradulations on the new camera and lenses. I've had the D50 for just under 1 year and love it. I'm going to change my current regular lens (18-70mm) to the 18-135 sometime next year. I can definately use the extra reach. My copy of the new 70-300 w/VR came in yesturday. I've also got a 2nd copy coming in tomorrow because Ritz sent it out before I could cancel the order. But there is are 2 Ritz' within 8 miles of me so returning it wont be a problem.

As for your original question: This could be considered searching for the Holy Grail or for a needle in a hay stack. Everyone is going to be different. For years I used a LowePro Offtrail hip pack. It is a good size and will hold the body w/lens and either 2 other smaller lenses or 1 smaller lens and a flash. But nothing else. I tired of having all my camera stuff in different places so for x-mas I got the Tarmac Adventure 9 camera backpack. It is huge though. But it holds all my camera gear and more (including a laptop). The camera section easily holds the body w/lens attached, speedlight flash, 50mm f/1.8 lens, 70-300mm lens and Gary Fong diffuser. With all that I have enough room for probably 2 more lenses. It also holds all my SD cards, extra battery, battery charger and more. It really isn't good for walking around the parks though (unless your like me, 6' 275lbs and used to carring around heavy things).

I've come to the conclusing (at least for me) that the ideal camera bag for us dSLR junkies is actually 2 bags. 1 to keep everything together and a 2nd for short day trips. That 2nd can be something like the hip pack or even a photo/safari/fishing vest. Kind of like the suitcase sets. You have the big huge 32"+ size bag for the long vacations, then you have the small carry on size for weekend or overnight trips and then you have the even smaller bag for day trips.

The only issue I now have with my LowePro Offtrail hip pack is that the attachments that hold the lenses are not big enough for the new 70-300mm VR lens. It just barely fit my old 70-300mm lens, but the new one if about 1/2" longer and will not fit. There is a bigger version of the hip pack, but even for me my current hip pack is on the big side.

Best bet. Find a local camera store, Ritz type is ok, but usually the more local non-franchise stores will have a better selection of bags.

Good luck

I have a Tamrac Velocity 5 bag that has worked out really well. Mostly I have carried it over my shoulder, but I found it more comfortable to carry it like a fanny pack (it converts) when standing in one place for awhile - like for fireworks. In it I carry a D50 body, 2 lenses (18-55 and 55-200), polarizer filter, remote control, 3 SD cards, lens paper, a tiny flashlight and the D50 manual. There was also room to carry all my little personal things - park maps, pen, list of photos to get, hand lotion, advil, money, tickets, sunglasses and gum. You can get things to clip onto it to carry things like extra lenses or water bottles. I was also able to hang my mini tripod from the side of it. It was very comfortable to carry around the parks and had everything I might need. Good luck on your quest! Barrie

Hi Everyone,

I've never flown before with a digital camera. Is this something that is safe to go onto the belt at security or should I have them handcheck it?

I will have cards in the bag and batteries along with the camera.

TIA,

Jodi

It is fine.... Film doesn't like the xrays, nothing in a digital bag will care.

I'm sorry if this question has been asked a thousand times.. but I was looking into photopass and it wuold be kinda expensive (and not in my budget) to buy the cd or order prints since I'm not from the U.S.

Is there a way to get a few pictures from photopass printed inside the parks?
