Hey,

I just want a piece of advice. This is not a question about a 'Selfie Stick'. I know that Selfie Sticks are not allowed at Disney Parks. However, I am going to start documenting some of my future Disney trips and I was wondering if grips, small tripods, or small monopods that cannot extend are allowed in the parks. I just don't want to invest in one if they aren't allowed in the parks. Also, I just want to use a small non-extendable tripod or grip because it provide easier and way more stable recording.

Thanks.

Yes they are still allowed

I found this link which may be useful to you: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/park-rules/

Security needs to do a better job when checking guests' bags, I was in MK on August 6, 2015, a short while after selfie sticks were banned from the parks, and saw a couple of guests who had sneaked selfie sticks into the park. One guest was using his selfie stick to direct his family on which direction he was taking next! I wonder if Cast Members are allowed to confiscate selfie sticks and other banned items or do they just "Let It Go?" Pun intended ;)

Yea, if I am not allowed to bring a small grip or like a small 6-7" tripod that cannot extend. I am fine with it. I just don't want to go through the bag check just to be denied.

After the ban was put in effect, the reports were that both DL and WDW MK's were doing bag checks and sending the people found with selfie sticks to security to check the sticks, which was taking time and making the offenders unhappy. They were also taking anyone found in the park with them, to the security area as well.

I have previously taken a full size tripod into the parks. It was in its own carry bag, but certainly not concealed in any way.

Really though it's not very practical to actually use a tripod in the parks most of the time. It's just too crowded. Unless you're looking to do a low light or long exposure shot, I wouldn't bother. You'd be better of taking a fast lens in most cases. Maybe a Gorillapod would be useful sometimes though.

I agree! Out of all the different accessories I take to use with my GoPro, the selfie stick and GorillaPod were the only two things I ever really used in WDW. I agree a full tripod is a pain to lug around and can be very difficult to find a secluded spot to use them. I have seen Disney Photopass CMs save their cameras from being knocked over a number of times at night. You'd be surprised how often a Gorillapod will come in handy when you have one. Plus it's small enough to fit in a backpack or even your pockets if they're big enough.

I have brought a full size Bogan field tripod into the parks many times. The problem at that point becomes security asking what you intend to do with the photos.

Full sized monopods are also no problem, except that you have to carry them all day and they're of pretty limited use there.
