Camcorders without view finders?

DH just ordered a new camcorder online last night. Today he told me it does not have a view finder. Do they make all camcorders like that now?

He bought the Panosonic SDRH18 with the hard drive plus it uses SDHC cards.

I worry that the screen will not be bright enough to use in the sunlight. Also i don't like the thought of bothering others if he wants to film fireworks etc at night with a bright screen.

anyone have a camcorder without a view finder? Is it a problem in the bright sunshine?

I have a Sony, not a problem seeing the LCD in sunlight but realy burns through the battery life.
