Cam starts TACKLE football tomorrow

Yikes, sue! :earseek: I already feel like football is my life from Aug-Nov....can't imagine what'll be like if either one of them makes the high school team! God bless ya for sticking through it all these years (parents should get credit, too, with that kind of schedule!!)

well last night was a rain out :( he was bummed. not a rain out but a "Lightening out" lol they said theyll play in the rain but not in the lightening. Wise choice I think! ;)

BedKnobbery you are right the parents deserve alot of credit. My son started in Pop Warner and the parents do everything. I thought I'd be done with the fundraising when he got to hs but with budgets today it hasn't changed. DH coaches the hs freshman team, between the 2 of their schedules I may as well cross the month of August off my calendar. My son loves it and get so much out of it, its all worth it. Good Luck to everyone's teams this year!

OMGOSH he has been to 3 practices now and he LOVES it!! :)
He says he wishes he'd been doing it all along!

They put him at quarterback and he thinks its the coolest thing ever and last night he said he *almost* made an interception!

DH just comes home form pratice absolutely BEAMING! :)

Im so glad he's happy. :)

I love football, been a football mom for 8 years now. Had last year off but still attended our high school games. My oldest ds started playing when he was 9, he played what we call midget until he was 11, then he played on the Jr hi 7 th grade team, then 8th grade team, then freshmen then junior varsity, and even got in for a few varsity games( i was so proud). Well last summer (2003) he got up every morning for the weight lifting and conditioning. July rolled along and we were at mandatory conditioning, he went the first night, the next afternoon i received a phone call at work from him, he didn't want to play any longer, It broke my heart, here he was a junior in high school ( we had a very good team with a Good chance at a state championship) and he doesn't want to play any longer. I told him he had to go and tell the coach himself, he told me he was burnt out(heart still broken), he went and told the coach found himself an after school job and has been happy and does not regret it. I believe his heart was no longer in it. The team did make it to the state semi finals. Well I tried at that time to convince my then 12 year old ds ( a 7thgrader) to give it a try. ( he had never played and they only had 13 kids out for the 7th grade team) he said no way no how. Okay so I get a year off from football mom ( believe me it was very hard)/ Now it is Dec 03 and my 12 year old ds calls me on my car phone and says mom I've got to tell you something I've been meaning to tell you ( okay what have you done no). He says I'm going to play football, i say that is great but don't pull my chain, he says no he is. Well older brother and dh( although he is not so darling these days) say ds #2 will never make it thru conditioning. FF Aug 04 he has made it thru conditioning and the second week of practice and the coaches are telling me he is really working hard and his name comes up often. Best of all he is enjoying it. Who knows what next year will bring, but i am back to being a football mom this year and can't wait to get my pin with him in his uniform. Sorry this is so long. Goodluck to all you foot ball moms, there is a poem that i have around here somewhere called an Ode to a Football mom if I find it I will out it, probably some time this weekend. It is a great tribute to all moms and describes us football mom well.
