calling to check for a code questions

When I called to check my info w/ them they did check my address and it was correct but I noticed that when I called to make my resis and the CM I talked to got my info they had a e-mail that I never use. I must have used it at one point but I have not checked it in months. He liked my new one (a mostly disney devoted one) piratemamaof3. pirate: didn't get me any extra deals LOL but liked it non the less. I guess if I had one when I booked he would have checked it for me at that time.

I am probably going to regret opening my mouth about this, but I don't think it is right to call and lie to a CM just so they will check on a code for you. I realize that sometimes people need a code to be able to go to Disney World (I needed one this year), but the calling and asking for a code thing can get out of hand. The CMS get tired of it and then they don't want to help at all.

If you lie and say I got a post-card and lost it, or I got an email and deleted it, etc. that story quickly gets old and CMs will assume it just isn't true. What about the few people that really do lose their code and CMs won't help them because of all the people using that lie to try to get them to look for a pin-code? It just doesn't seem worth lying about.

Like many have already said, some CMs are helpful and some are not. You can hang up and call back if the CM you get won't check for you. Why make something up?:confused3

I agree with you! I actually DID have the email code, and the first CM just didn't seem to believe me whatsoever! The 2nd CM told me that I should "allow" the Disney emails through to my email, and that would solve the problem!

I understand the CMs who are not helpful, they probably get people trying to get discounts all the time. Hey, if I didn't have one already I'd be looking around, too! But when I have a legitimate code that I was extremely excited about vanish into thin air due to it going to junk mail, I would like the CM to believe me. I told her all the details, I was just looking for the dates... some people do ruin it for the rest of us!

I think that if you just call, and say you've heard of a code going around, that should work with the right CM. There is no need to lie, because there will be an understanding CM who will gladly check your code for you! :)

We were planning a cruise for our 10th anniversary in April, but wanted to check Disney just in case we could swing it for 4 nights for the same price as the cruise.

Long story, short, I called and asked if there were any discounts available in April. The CM told me that there were no discounts unless the customer has received an email, mail, or heard about an offer. Then, I asked her to look up and see if I had received any special offers and she said they don't have any way to do that. Whatever.

It's just ridiculous. If you were not aware of the 4/3 offer, they wouldn't even tell you about it (it will not do me any good since we just want to stay for 4 nights). They would rather me hang up without trying to find me a discount. I'm just not going to pay full price for four nights in the middle of the week.

Sorry for the rant; thanks for letting me vent. :wave2:

It's not necessarily people calling in to ask for a code, but people are calling to see if a code is attached to their name. If I didn't call and ask, I would never have known I had a 40% off code because for some reason I don't get emails from them anymore. And, I never get any mail...my codes were always sent in an email.

I didn't read any of these posts as people calling in and lying (maybe I missed something).

I think people are calling to see if there is a code in their name that they are not aware of. I have called to check on this but never have had one in my name.

Yeah, I don't think people "lie" either, I just felt like when I spoke to the original CM, she made me feel like a liar!! Isn't this supposed to be a magical place and a wonderful time?? Why would they hire CMs who basically tell the customers they are forced to pay rack rate and not even check to see if there is a discount available? I for one will never pay full price for Disney World, as I know there are ALWAYS discounts - so if it's full price, I won't book. That CM lost business!

Well, sort of... DH and I already have a BB offer booked... hehe, just checking to see if we could go later in the year instead of September! But some CMs, as with customer service all over the place, can be downright rude.

I agree. There should be no lying. The lie will be obvious if you don't have a code. If the code is that important to you (and I understand if it is), then just keep calling back until you get a helpful CM.

A couple of years ago, I received a code and booked under it since it matched our dates. Then I noticed the fine print of asking about a similar offer for room only--the code was for a package. I called back since we didn't need tickets. The first CM said she couldn't help me. I thanked her and called right back. The next CM not only helped me, but took the time to see if there were any other discounts/codes available. She found me an obscure code for the GP that beat the heck out of either pin offer. I was on the phone with her for nearly two hours (thank goodness we have unlimited long distance. I guess I could have used my cell phone). We played with dates (we were fairly flexible in a basic time period) and resorts until we found the perfect discount. The code varied by % off on different dates at different resorts. Apparently this was a guest relations thing. I had ~50% off rack rate. It's all about the CM.

Just wanted to clarify that calling to ask if there is a code attached to your name is not lying, and that is not what I was referring to. I was referring to a couple of suggestions in the thread about calling the CM and making up a story about having a pin-code email and accidentally deleting it, or saying you had a postcard and it got thrown away.

Regardless of what they tell the CM, it still is only going to get the CM to check to see if they really have a code or not. The CM is not just going to give them a code. One time when I called in they told me 2 other pins I had in the past that have expired. They know exactly what you have had for pins, so if you lie, they know.

Just keep on calling and check your email always. Hopefully you will get it, just wait. Have a nice day. :)

So I have seen on here that some people call and the CS checks if there is a code under their name. What number do you call? I decided to give it a whirl today and called the 407 w disney number and whent through the automated stuff and got a CS rep who told me that they could not look my name up that is something that I have provide to them they don't have a way to look.

Do I need to call a different number or did I just get some one that didn't want to check?

I did exactly what you did and they told me that I had no codes, they looked up my married name and maiden name. I called the 407 #

BabyRN - I know CMs are just letting people know if they have a pin-code attached to their name. If it sounded like I meant codes were being given out just because someone asks, I apologize for not being clear! :)
