Today I called out sick from both of my jobs. I have a pretty bad cold. Now, I have gone to work as sick as I am today in the past, but today I needed a day at home. I called in from my day job last night as I usually do to give my supervisor a chance to find a sub. This morning I get a call from my co-worker telling me that she sprained her ankle and wasn't going in. Although she didn't come right out and say it, the implication was that I should go in. She calls out quite frequently and I hardly ever do. I told her that I was in fact sick and not going in. So, bottom line....our 14 MR adults are left with not one but 2 subs. I feel a bit guilty, but knowing that with the flu shots as hard to come by as they are this year, and germs running rampant around our program it is probably best that I am home.
Anyone else suffer from the slightly guilty conscience syndrome even when you are sick or am I the only one?
