EMMA: My dictionary (which is 36 years old) says that BISCUIT comes from the MIDDLE ENGLISH word"bisquite" which is from the MIDDLE FRENCH "bescuit" which meant "twice cooked bread."
I hope that is what you are looking for and that it does not disagree with what the teacher says or the test wants.
Looking forward to seeing the photos.
When someone is embarrassing, stupid or mean often the best tactic is to "kill them with kindness." It makes them wonder what makes you tick and that is better than revenge.

GINGER: Do we think a lot of other people would be wearing black or orange ribbons to be seasonal?
What does

Is anyone artistic or very creative? I could mail you a copy of the T-or-T map from last year, maybe it can be renovated for this year. If anyone has any other ideas please post them we're all ears.
OK, I am not exactly the most creative person in the world...but my DMiL who will be traveling with us is very creative and fun. I will see if I can enlist her to help with the T-or-T map. I'll PM you my mailing info, to get a copy of the map from last year.

njfamily you are super great, thank you.

[/list] I hit some of the posting things by accident while sending the post.
I don't think there will be other people wearing ribbons at the Radisson or on the ship. Last year by the time our cruise came around we all knew enough about each other that we could pick one and another out of a crowd. We also shared pictures of our children by email and talked about ourselves enough that when we did meet it was like a reunion of old buddies. Hugs and kisses everywhere.

pallamb you're in for a great meal on your anniversary, maybe we can have a drink together after dinner. Don't worry about your ressies you'll get there in time. If not I will.

aks22 relax we have plenty of time. Get your work done and have a great time at WDW. We want a report when you get back.

You all have a great day. I'm off to play in the gym.

Cheers! That is the answer, i asked my best friend who asked her dad who knew! I finished my test early and take great pleasure in being able to anounce that there are 536 tiles on the cieling in the skewl hall!!! We started a new song in chior and it's really scary! There's like this really low bit and a really high bit with a kinda eeire drone in the middle. i dont like it much!!!

GINGER: Thanks for the explanations.

EMMA: Glad you did so well. If any one asks the number of tiles in the ceiling you will have the trivia answer.
Perhaps that song will grow on you. I know some songs I did not like at first I got to like later. Even stuff by Benjamin Britain (?sp) what is it about?

I don't think Emma is going to find it hard to make friends on teh Magic. She has endeared the board already.

Counting down the days

Emma- Three of my friends are going on a 3 week tour of Europe in July arriving in London on July 6. On their trip they'll be in Venice at St. Mark's on July 18. Will you be in Venice still? It would be great if they could hear you sing with your choir? Patty:earsgirl:

Hello everyone - I can't believe how much interest the 10/26 Holloween cruise is generating, I think it's great !!!!

My wife and I will be sailing and are really looking forward to it. This will be our 5th disney cruise having done the 4 day twice, the 7 day once and the 3 day once. They have all been super.

Our previous cruises have been with our two children that have somehow grown up over the years. This one will be different.... just the two of us.

We're looking forward to meeting new friends spending some quailty time together.

I am also a pin collector/trader so if there is anyone interested in Disney pins, give me a shout.

Welcome Randy & Cathie - I have several pins from my last trip to WDW and my first cruise on the Magic. I haven't gotten into the trading part of it. Each pin has a special memory for me so I haven't been able to part with any of them. I heard that last Halloween there was a limited edition Halloween cruise pin sold. I'm hoping they'll do the same this year. I'd love to get that one! Patty:earsgirl:

Hi Patty - I know what you mean about the pins with special memories. I have many of those in my collection as well.

Yes, there are special Holloween pins released every year (for the past 2 years anyway). I'm sure there will be one this year too.

The thought is to buy 2 pins instead of one. That way, you will have one to trade with someone who bought an extra as well.

It's alot of fun and you meet some very nice folks trading pins.

Thanks for writing, I hope we can get together and have a great time.

Randy

Maybe It'll grow on me-like fungus! I have no clue what it's about, its in latin so it means absolutly nothing to me! Unfortunatly, no we will have left by the 18th. I think we are there from the 8th to the 14th. Hmm now all i have to do is find something to do today other than revise. I guess I could always be forced into some shopping! Just a case of who's around to go, hehe:insert evil laugh here!
Oh by the way, do any of you lot have the Lord of the Rings soundtrack?

Ok I was just wondering, what would you class a jaffa cake as? A cake or a biscuit? I know, I know, I shouldnt be allowed to think!

Randy and Cathie ~Welcome!! I'm thrilled to hear you are such seasoned veterans of the DCL!! This is our very first cruise. :) I look forward to gathering advice from you. :)

btw we also had our honeymoon at the Contemporary (in 1990).

Emma, I've never heard of a jaffa cake. What is it?

Maybe they're british things! They're kinda hard 2 explain but I'l have a go! Ok Jaffa cakes are small round things with a spongey layer on the bottom, a small layer of orange jam thing and then chocolate over the top.

Pryd: what does endeared mean?

Hi ennazus

If you send me your email address, I will send copies of "tips" that I have writen to other first time cruisers. I have done this several times and now have a pretty good data base of information, especially for new cruisers. Plus, if you have specific questions, I will be more than happy to answere those too.

Emma, Those sound delicious!!

Randy, I sent you my request for your tips! :) Thanks!!

They are. I should be revising really but oh well there is tomorrow and monday to do that! I just havbe to say, May the fourth be with you!!!!!

Emma: We do not have Jaffa cakes. Are they homemade or store bought? I am thinking you might want to sneak some in your luggage for us colonists to try and that will provide some space for souvineers you buy after people eat them.
I would call them a cookie. In the US we have some different meanings for words than you do. A biscuit is always a bready item. Not a sweet. One would have it with breakfast or dinner, not as a dessert or snack unless it was loaded with jelly and butter. Baking powder is the normal leavening. Cookies are sweets and ours are usually sweeter than yours. I have some recipes from my New Zealand pen pal that are traditional British biscuit recipes and to me they are short on sugar.

Endeared means "to make higher is cost, value or estimation. To make dear, beloved or esteemed." Ray said that because we love you already. You are dear to us because of your winning ways and conversational skills. We are all looking forward to meeting you.

What should you be revising?

Jan :earsgirl:

Now you see, thats what i was planning! Aw well Im sure most of the stuff that comes out of my mouth is complete rubbish and has nothing to do with disney most of the time! I should be revising Macbeth, maths (formulas and how you work things out) and science. It's really confusing because they're completely different things. I keep reading Macbeth and he seems to be saying "A circle's volume equals pie times radius squared" I'll have forgotten it all by the time it comes to my exam anyway! Ah well so long as I remember to read the question I'll be fine.
