Maureen- Really sorry to hear about your Mom. Please feel free to email me if there is anything I can help with. We are sort of next door neighbors. I know Jan would offer too but she's a bit too far away.
I am not sure we will be able to do dinner on the 25th since DH wants to visit Cape Canaveral that day. I would love to do it if it isn't too early. We will definately be around the pool as soon as I can drag him away from the shuttles. It is getting really close now and I guess we should decide about this. DH needs the computer so I'm off. Did I get everyone????????????????????

Debby I just saw Mason and Lauren, they look so cute. I love the non-footwear, it gives them that true vacation look.

Maureen I am very sorry to hear about your Mom. We will add her in our prayers.

Suzanne I found out last year that it is a whole lot easier to fill those bags once aboard.

Jan, I asked for the earlier meeting at the Radisson because I know how long a group of women who have been chatting for months on this board are once they finally meet.
It will be 12a.m. before we get anywhere for dinner.
:teeth: You know we could just order carry-out and eat by the pool. There's some great diners that serve Greek food near by and there is a great Pizza place right next to the Rad.:p

Dena we'll  to each other at Palo's during Brunch.

Rochelle take care of that elbow.

MAUREEN and SUZANNE--sorry to hear about your parents. Not an easy time for you I am sure.

We are not sure what time we are getting to the Radisson since we are driving down. When the early arrivers decide what will work for them and set it up, let us all know and we will see what we can do.

What if there was an early meet at the pool? Water for the swimmers and chairs for the non-swimmers. Chat for whoever shows up. :)

Then dinner can be arranged as each family or group prefers and perhaps another poolside meet in the evening for the late-comers and those who want to meet again? :)

RORY: My take on it is that at the Sail Away Party whoever wants to will be Midship, starboard side Deck 10 wearing our green leis, Hallmark curly green, black and orange ribbon (mine in my hair), Halloween Cruiser shirts from Ray and/or lanyard with DCL cruise pins and holding our flags from Dan and Scott waving to the GRILL restaurant as we pass so SHIRLEY from THE PERFECT GIFT can get our photo. She offered to mail it and since I have a scanner, I can e-mail attach it to anyone who wants it after the cruise for scrapbooks (if it looks decent).

What is everyone's preference on the hometown goodie items, etc for adults? Baggies to hand out on Trick or Treat day and/or whenever we meet during the week? or does someone have a wonderful stateroom and want to host a get-together? other ideas? Rory has a treat that is driving her nuts to show off--and driving me nuts to see--something about CHADS!!

Jan :earsgirl:

Im not sure if we'll be at the sail away party but if we are, Ill be armed with my England flag (aint no point me waving an American one)

Im off out to a play at school tonight caled Wise Guys. Sounds like fun and all my mates'll be there so god help the actors when they do the chatback session!

I did my english homework last night and it took me four hours! I decided to write about Venice but I couldnt pick what day to write about. So I wrote about them all! Each one is around 600 words giving me a total of 3000 words. He can just choose which one he wants for the paper. I would post them for ya but I think you'd be bored stupid.

Im not sure if we'll be able to manage jaffa cakes on the cruise cos they would have to be brought out the week before and kept unmelty for the flight and trip to wdw. Sorry cos I know that was what sparked the idea in the first place.

Howdy all!

Seems I am wrong...I did some research and FR has expanded their hours since we sailed, and now (according to the Magical Guide)

"The hours of operation are 1:00 PM - 4:-00 PM, and then again from 6:00 PM until midnight each day of the cruise (with the exception of embarkation day, when there are just night hours). On the Day at Sea, they are also open from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM."

Yipee for Sue Ellen!!!

Rory and Emma - you guys are the best for offering to babysit. DD(3) will be in the CLub for the first time ever.....we will see how that goes. She will have her cousins on board to help her, so she should be quite happy!

Maureen and Suzanne - SOrry to hear about the illness in your familes. My dad has cancer. We went to Disneyland at Christmas and even though he forgot to bring his note for a wheelchair and a pass...they were so great about it and it made all the difference! My parents live in Houston and spend most of their weeks at MD ANderson Cancer Center. We are very fortunate to be so close to the hospital. I purchase CHristmas cards from the children project every single year.

Gotta go...Jax and Brenda are on right now!!!

We sure have our share of diseases. We lost my Dad two years ago to a rare blood disorder called myelodysplasia. It is not cancer, but more like the bone marrow goes on strike. He was part of a drug trial also, so may have helped the researchers learn more about it.

It was 80 degrees here. Keeping me in shape for the Caribbean--and I am loving it.

EMMA: Bringing your own flag makes a lot of sense.

Jan :earsgirl:

Sue Ellen -
More research - and OBVIOUSLY I have no idea what I am talking about. (not an unsual thing, just so you know) But according to Navigators that are posted on Barb & Tony's site, the only day that you can have your child in FR AND go to brunch at Palos is THursday. FR is open at 10:00 that day. (Of course, your wisest bet is always to take what I say as 'possibly, might be true', and then check it out for yourself! :)

It has started to look like Fall here, so we started moving summer clothes down to the spare bedroom to our cruise pile there...and then of course it was 80 friggin degrees today....let me just tell you, we were in jeans. Oh well. Can't win for losing sometimes!

have a good night everyone!

we may just have Tara stay in the room with him for our brunch since it will be his nap time. They will have eaten breakfast, and can get lunch by room service if necessary. we have some really nice 2 way radios that have a vibrate feature on them so she can get us at any time.

I'm getting very excited now.

Sue Ellen

A while ago Shirley Nelson Brown (of The Perfect Gift in Cape Canaveral) offered a packet of info about Key West to anyone who would send her a self addressed postage paid envelope. She grew up there as did her husband Norm. I did it and got her stuff. There was a business card in there for TOUCH OF GOLD but I could not figure out on the map where it would be located so I e-mailed her. This is her reply--she said to share it with you all.

Touch of Gold is right by Keno Shoes ---------right accross from Roof Top restaurant on Front Street ---Vinny is off on vacation, but his brother Gary is there and he will honor the card in giving you conch rates. Make sure you tell Gary or Vinny that I sent you all in so he will give you the conch rates. They are super nice guys and honest as the day is long.

Do NOT go to the tee shop called Coconut Island which is in the 300 block of Duval - they are big rip offs and I found out first hand this past weekend - this shop is one of many, I found out, that the city keeps shutting down and they keep opening up under a new name.

The best tee shop I found is called Beach Break at 225 Duval Street and ask for Dan Perez - he will give you Conch prices if you tell him I recommended you to him. I found Beach Break honest, but in the tee shirt shop business in Key West, who knows for how long they stay honest

Also please know that I do NOT receive any compensation for recommending anyone - this is something I want to do for those that go to my hometown.

I think we might get Conch discounts at these places just by saying that Shirley sent us or recommended them, even if we do not have a business card of theirs signed by them and her. But I do not know for sure.

Have a nice day,
Jan :earsgirl:

Wiseguys was fabulous. It was written for a group of 4 guys to go round and perform to people aged 13-25. It was about what issues life might throw at you and how some people react to this, it didnt preach but showed the lives of people that were involved in these issues. It was really thought provoking and the chatback was great. We got to hot seat 2 of the characters and ask the other actors questions about the producing of the play. There was a fair amount of bad language used, infact the first line was swearing.

We were in Biology today complaining about our physics teacher. He makes us copy so much stuff down and explains it whilst we're copying. Then, he stands infront of it andd doesn't even notice that half the class are stood on their stools trying to see what it says.

Handed my holiday form in to get permission for the time Ill need off for the cruise. Yay!

Doing the Doc Dance!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Dh called and they tried to deliver. I don't get back home until late tomorrow so he drove to the office and picked them up (brownie points for him). We're in 6556 and I did a quick search - everyone said it's a great location - near stairs, directly above kids clubs, etc.

I can't wait to get home and look at the docs!

Maureen and Suzanne - sorry to hear about your parents as well. It seems so unfair.

Once when we were in Key West we had some young people ask for money since they were "poor Americans". One was even a young mother with a baby asking for money for milk for the baby. I wondered if they thought we were Europeans, they way they asked. We just shook our heads and walked on. I asked Shirley about that since that is her home town and she said not to give them any money as it usually goes for drugs. Sounds the same as in northern cities.

DEBBY: :Pinkbounc Glad DH got your Docs. :bounce:

EMMA: Glad you had a good time at the play. I was thinking that you, Jessica and Rory should do a trio at the Talent show if they have one on our cruise. If other teens want to join in that would be super: The DIS Friends

I laid out a suitcase yesterday and started packing the Halloween treats, regional-give-aways and snorkeling stuff.
:Pinkbounc Am I excited?? :Pinkbounc :bounce: You bet! :)

Jan :earsgirl:

Talked to dh again last night and my Orientaltrading.com box arrived too! What a day for deliveries!

I have the suitcases out and lined up (and put orange duct tape on each to help us identify them) and have the Halloween stuff ready next to them. I have a couple of the kid's outfits there and still need one of my dresses hemmed (this Saturday) and then I can officially pack. I plotted out our evening attire for the week (casual, formal, etc.) and have a general idea of daytime clothing. Right now, I honestly don't think I will use all the suitcases I have out. I'm really trying NOT to pack everything and the kitchen sink. Plus I plan on doing laundry one time for t-shirts, shorts, underwear, etc. Since we'll be gone 10 nights total, I'm going to try and pack 5 sets of casual clothes for each and rely on laundry to get us through.

I have to find our trip insurance info (we went separate) and put it in the stack and start rounding up the supplies - sunscreen, medicines, etc.

We are getting CLOSE:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Scott and I might not dress up for Halloween. It just seems stupid to pack something and then change into it after supper (8:30).

Let me know what you guys think!

Dan

WHAT??????? You are out of your mind Dan!!!! We are expecting to see Zorro and....whatever else the other costume was gonna be. The little ones will be so disappointed. What will mom say to that????????

(Of course, I don't have to carry your luggage, so do what you want and we will totally support you.)

GoofyDisney- Scott and I were not dressing up as Zorro and Garth Brooks, that is Ray and Tony! LOL

Heck who knows what we are doing!

dan

DAN AND SCOTT: I thought you were going to just keep on the Tuxedos and walk with your feet together and hands behind your backs to "be" penguins. We saw a Tuxedo store the other day that was called MISTER PENGUIN. We took a picture of it, but I do not know how to get it on this board.
You could use the Tuxedos and go dressed as RICH MEN or MODERN KINGS of some place or other. Mom could be the QUEEN-MOTHER. Get yourselves crowns and a sparkly tiera for her! :)

I am wondering if they might move Halloween celebrations to Grand Cayman night since we will be leaving port fairly early that night. It will be interesting to see what happens. We may have a MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR like the people this week on the MAGIC.

I have started to pack. My carry-on is full of Trick or Treat and "share your regional specialty" items. My "purse" will be my backpack and that way I can hand carry our paperwork, my jewelry, toiletries, vitamins, etc. Then we will each have a large suitcase for clothes to unpack on the ship, a small one to share for clothes for the trip down and the Radisson and the last small one for snorkeling geer, room decorations, etc. That last one is also started. This will let Tom decide his own carry-on for his laptop and/or reading material and I will not be needing him to carry stuff for me. That gives me a sense of accomplishment because I tend to agree with ESTELLE'S youngest DD--"Dad gets one suitcase and Mom gets the rest." We are doing Fort Wilderness for the better part of a week after the cruise so will definitely be doing some laundry somewhere in there.
