I just tried calling MS to confirm my ressie for January and they were closed, however , the machine gave me the front desk phone numbers of the resort I am going to be staying in and said to call them if you had questions. WHen I called, they said it was the switch board for BCV and BWV and that they couldn't help me. Is there anyway to confirm a ressie when MS is closed?

but it is much slower.
For a ressie so close you are better ringing tomorrow

While you may have better success calling MS tomorrow during normal business hours, you might ask the switchboard to connect you with the front desk at the resort.

Several have reported here in the past that they have been able to even make a reservation- using points- on weekends- by calling the resort directly and accessing the system. MS was still involved once they opened, but the resort was able to make the reservation without the help of MS.

If the switchboard can't help you contact the front desk, just call MS in the morning (you can also probably reach the front desk during normal business hours).

If you do call the resort, be sure to tell them you're checking on a DVC point reservation.

Good Luck!

That is one of the most interesting things I have read here in a long time.

We have used the front desk to extend stays for days prior and after stays we had booked on points. They have access to the same inventory but my expereince has always been in the 7 day window when there is no more waitlist. It was done one evening at 11pm and other time on a Sunday.

We as well may a reservation on one days notice at VWL at the front desk at 9pm after dinner....they made a couple of phone calls and booked us into a studio for the next night....we where staying off site to save points for a big trip this year, and we just needed a small fix....my wife was convinced i was wasting my time, but lo-and-behold it worked!!!

You can always call for things that MS is and will be closed for. It seems inappropriate to call the front desk just because MS is closed though, at least as long as they'll be open before you're trip. You have always been able to call to make reservations and cancel those that occur before MS will be open again. If you do, make sure you call MS when they do open to make sure the points were used correctly.

WOW! I learned something new! Thanks Doc! I didn't know that. We once had to make a last minute addition of a day only twenty four hours ahead. I was lucky to have to do that during business hours, but it was a Friday, and I was worried about what I would do if I couldn't get through. Glad to know we have that option!

Doc...I had not heard of calling the front desk for making reservations.

Personally, I'd try to avoid that at all costs. Making reservations is tricky enough with knowledgeable MS personnel...what with using the right points in the right order, etc. I wouldn't want someone who is not as familiar with DVC making a reservation for us unless it was an emergency. And if so, I'd certainly contact MS at some point to confirm my point status.

i went down to bwv front desk the night before we had to switch to wlv, asking if i could switch from wlv to bvc and the cm called over to bvc front desk and they did have a studio available , the cm transfered my ressies from wlv to bcv, i was so glad because the next night we were staying at bcv and we didnt have to move again.(last min. trip took what was available).::MinnieMo

when we rented points a couple years ago, i was told i could call the front desk(where we were staying) to confirm my ressies only three days out from the ressies, that is when the ressies is in the system at the front desk, this is what the cm at the front desk had told me.::MinnieMo

Due to flight cancelations this past weekend I needed to extend my DSs' stay by one night. It was Saturday of course. I called the front desk and even though OKW was supposed to be at 100% occupancy the front desk was able to arrange for a one night extention of a 2BR.They asked if I wanted to use points or cash. I used points. It was easier than I thought it would be.

You should only be calling/contacting the resorts directly in emergency situations. If you are making and/or checking on reservations in the future, do it during MS hours. If you are looking for a last minute room, facing a storm, etc. then go ahead and deal with the resort directly on a weekend or holiday. Nanajo -- You were probably able to extend your stay because someone else was sleeping on the floor at LaGuardia. ;)

The resorts can assist only with reservations for "last minute" issues- like adding a day to an existing reservation or making a reservation to arrive on Saturday - Friday night after MS has closed. They can confirm DVC reservations- but even that is more efficiently handled by MS.

As Pam and others have mentioned, for non-emergency issues (like checking point balances, or making requests), it's always better to call MS during their business hours.
