Calling DIS Cephalon products users

Hey all!

Does anyone own this product, or a product like it??

Ok here's my question. I ordered this and received it yesterday. The reviews on Amazon say that the pot is oven-safe up to 700 degrees. None of my paperwork that came with the pot confirmed this.

Can anyone tell me for sure if this is true?? I don't want to damage it.

I have a similar thing from Calphalon and they're totally safe in the oven!

However, never ever ever put it in the dishwasher! My hubby was in the dog house for quite a while because he ruined my best and only Calphalon pot.

I know, I nearly busted a gut when I saw the price. I was telling my husband I wanted it for Christmas. He came in our office and I showed him the page. He said, "Holy crap!!! 89% off?! Good grief, order it now!!!!" Needless to say, I was thrilled!!!!

I thought it being so cheap was odd, so I looked it up on another site and sure enough, that durned pot is EXPENSIVE! So I was even more excited!

Marseeya, I have read everywhere about not putting it in the dishwasher. What stinks is you have to clean it with Comet or Bon Ami. I found that strange. Not to mention I was excited to try it out but have neither cleaner. GRR! Any cleaning tips?

I have Analon pans that are basically the same thing and they are oven safe to 500 degrees. I don't think my oven goes higher then 500 degrees anyway. Not all Caelphalon pans are oven safe at that high of a temp. The ones with wooden handles are only safe to 300 or 350. You should be ok.

My DH told me to buy it too. You should watch on Amazon, because they'll have pieces at that outrageously low price every once in a while with the Calphalon.

As for cleaning, I never used those products on it -- I just bought soap-free scouring pads or used those copper scouring pads. I used a spot of Dawn or other liquid cleaner, but just a little drop of it. I never really cooked anything very messy in mine, but I did burn rice in it once and it soaked out just fine.

they have been running this sale since last summer!! I was able to get lots of extra pieces for less than I would pay for one in the stores!! I have used them for 20 years and they still look brand new!! I use them in the oven all the time, but my oven only goes to 450, so thats as high as I know you can cook it in. I would love to have an over that would heat to 700, what great pizzas you could make in that!!!

BTW, thanks for posting this. I had an Amazon gift certificate that I needed to use so I bought one. I have needed a second stock pot for a while now and what a great price!
