Calling ALL Texans!

I was born in Dallas, raised mostly in Mesquite (short stint in Westerville, OH while a child), currently living in Waco for school.

Graduate in December, have no idea where we'll end up, but not likely Texas. Love it, but we don't fit well here.

Was born and raised in Dallas. My husband grew up in Nebraska and moved here in the mid '60's. We moved to Rockwall, which is about 25 miles east of Dallas, 11 years ago.

We love it here and wouldn't think of moving unless it was farther into East Texas.

I moved here in 1990... First lived in Arlington, then Dallas, then Lewisville, then Ft. Worth, and now Flower Mound.

When I was a kid, I always dreamed of moving here... I wanted to be away from the cold winters in Illinois! The summers do get pretty warm (hot! :sunny: ), but I don't mind it... That's what A/C is for! :teeth: Check back with me when I'm 8 months pregnant in July, and I may change my story on that one!! :rolleyes1

I live in The Woodlands, north west of Houston. We have been here for just about three months now! We spent the last two years in the SF Bay area and before that I lived in New England (Massachusetts or New Hampshire) all of my life.

I like it here a lot - I think it is a really good place to raise a family and people are so friendly here (actually, the friendliness really kind of freaked me out at first, but now I like it!)

Here is a picture of my Madeline in the Texas Bluebonnets:

lil mermaid, I saw that picture and it reminds of a whole bunch my parents have of me from about 42 years ago and the ones I have of our kids. Thats been a popular pose in Texas for many years. I was born in Houston in St Josephs hospital in downtown Houston. Educated in HISD, graduated from the University of Houston with a BBA and from University of Houston Clear Lake with my MBA. Have lived in Houston my entire life except for one year in Calgary, Alberta when the evil E Enron sent me there. I live in Pearland which is just south of Houston and have since 1993. My family came to Texas in 1834 to a place called Staggers Point which is now called Benchley, which is just north of Bryan/College Station on Highway 6.

Lived in the DFW area my entire life (31 years, ugh) except college at UCF...now in Euless - just a stones throw away from DFW Airport.

I'm currently in Dickinson (between Houston and Galveston, 5-10 minutes from NASA) and have been in Texas for almost 16 years now. I've lived in Friendswood, Austin, Pearland, and Dickinson, and of those my favorite BY FAR was Austin. I'm not fond of the Houston area, but to be fair I don't like big cities, hurricanes, not fond of Galveston beach, and don't like flat land, so Houston isn't a good match for me. LOL! Austin, on the other hand, I absolutely loved. I wouldn't mind moving back up to the hill country, but ideally I'd like to move out to Colorado (I'm a mountain girl, what can I say) sometime in the future.

Rowlett (just a bit northeast of Dallas)

I grew up in Ohio, moved to Southern California when I was 19. Lived there for 8 years before my DH was transferred here.

We have lived in Texas for 11.5 years. I never liked Ohio and from the time I was a small child I wanted to move. I LOVED LOVED LOVED California (especially living within walking distance of Disneyland for 3 years). It nearly killed me to move here to Texas. To me Texas seems to be right in the middle of Ohio and California. Not the perfect fit for me, but it is a WONDERFUL place to raise a family, and we are happy here.

TxTink, I'm just down the road from you. I live in East Pearland very close to Friendswood. As a matter of fact right across Dixie Farm Road from our neighborhood where the houses sit on 2 or 3 acres they used to tell people that they lived in West Friendswood because they felt that Pearland was to redneck and did'nt want to be associated with it. Since the growth and the addition of Silverlake Pearland is now an acceptable address.

I was born in Fort Worth, grew up in Burleson, lived in FW after I married, and have lived in Cedar Hill for about 5 years now. My husband moved to Burleson in the 6th grade and we were high school sweethearts! He doesn't really consider himself a Texan (he'll say "fixin' to" but refuses to say "y'all") but he likes it here and doesn't want to move!

I am GRITS, Girls Raised In The South! I currently live in the northwest but my heart will always be in Texas. I lived in Splendora (close to Humble), Houston, El Maton, and Bay City, close to Victoria and Wharton. Deep south! Gotta love it! And I tell you what, no matter how long I live outside of TX I will still defend it to the death!

Good grief! Pearland too red neck! LOL!

Actually, the only thing I don't like about where I live is the actual town I live in....Friendswood is a very snobbish little town. I would MUCH rather be in Pearland!

We live in Keller and have lived in Texas our entire lives. DH was born and raised in Irving. I was born in Dallas, lived in Irving, San Antonio, back to Irving and now Keller :flower:

Spoken like a true Texan!! :cool1:

Howdy from College Station! :wave2: Which is north west of Houston for those who aren't from Texas. I've lived here for almost 24 years, and before that in Central Texas.

::yes::

I'll say bad things every so often, say that the women are crazy(which Texas women are, sorry ladies :rotfl: ) , but if anyone else nonTexan says something, I'm right there arguing against them! :rotfl2:

Fess up wickey, for all our non Texas friends College Station is also the home of Texas A&M. Go Aggies's. My son lives in College Station too, he's a sophmore at A&M.

I live in Houston. My family moved here from Corpus Christi when I was about one year old. I'm coming up to a big birthday this weekend (Big 5-0). I love Houston, especially in the winter when I read about others' enduring snow and cold weather. I think of snow as something you fly into a place to experience (such as Colorado) and then return home from, although we did have a white Christmas this year! It was the first time my 12 year-old had ever seen snow!

I even like the summers. You can jump in the pool to cool off, if you need to, which is often...

Houston offers a lot to do year-round. We attended a free musical at TUTS this weekend and it was beautiful outside.

Okay, who's next?
