Calling ALL Texans!

Where in Texas do you live and how long have you been a "Texan"?

Native Texan. My family has been here for several generations. I live in New Braunfels (since '96), on the southeastern edge of the Texas Hill Country. Originally from Bastrop (near Austin). Graduate of the University of Texas, class of '83. Hook 'Em!!! Proud to be from the greatest state in the Union! Remember the Alamo!!!

Yea Tink, believe it or not a lot of people associate Pearland with Rednecks. I have to say I also agree with you on the Friendswood attitude. I have a lot of friends who live there but for the most part there is a little upity attitude going on with our neighbors to the east. Present company excluded of course.

Native Texan here. Grew up in White Settlement (Ft.Worth area), college at Texas A&M, worked 1 1/2 yrs in Houston, married in College Station, moved to Plano 5 years ago. I've read all these posts, and I am pretty sure I've been to every city mentioned so far! Guess I get around (in Texas anyway)!

 I hope so! I would really like to move....but not too far! I like our mall! :flower: Pearland is a very nice area, DH and I have wished we moved there instead of where we did....

There were 2 teens arrested at Friendswood high school today for harassing fellow students....the first thing I thought was that it didn't surprise me, this town has a sort of self entitlement attitude. Since we moved here I have felt that it could really turn ugly one day. I am glad our DD's are both in college now and out of the district.

was born and raised here and have no plans on going anywhere else ;)

Funny story:

When we were looking for a house, I was telling our realtor where I wanted to look. I came to Pearland. I said I wanted to look in PEARL--Land. She told me that there was no town called that around Houston. I was looking at the map and told her that it was on my map. This kept coing on for about a minute, finally she said PEAR-land??? Yes, duh?? I think of that story everytime I see Pearland on the weather map!!

I just moved here on March 31st. We bought a house in Flower Mound. So I haven't even lived here a month yet.

So far I am enjoying myself here...I cannot wait to get everything unpacked so I can get out there and enjoy the sights.

Actually, the only thing I don't like about where I live is the actual town I live in....Friendswood is a very snobbish little town. I would MUCH rather be in Pearland!

Just wanted to add....

I always thought our mascot should be:

Friendswood - Home of the Fighting Friends!

And our cheer could be:

Awww!
Stop that!
I'm tellin'!

I'll say bad things every so often, say that the women are crazy(which Texas women are, sorry ladies :rotfl: ) , but if anyone else nonTexan says something, I'm right there arguing against them! :rotfl2:

Good thing I'm not Texas born or bred. I may have been offended by that ;)

Well we are crazy! That's one of our best features, keeping things exciting! :earboy2:

I've lived in Texas all my life. I was born in Gainesville and lived in Denton, Bartonville, Corsicana, Nacogdoches and Irving. My family settled in Wise County in 1858 and the rest of the family was in Texas before 1895. DH was also born here and his family arrived in 1824. I do not plan to leave(don't know if it would be allowed anyway), but do plan to visit WDW often.

 Until just now I have always thought it was Pearl-land. I've seen it as the location of users on the DIS, and never paid attention that it actually says Pear Land. Other than on the DIS, I don't think I've ever seen or heard of Pearland.

I live way down in Harlingen, Rio Grande Valley, near Brownsville and South Padre Island. We've been here 11 1/2 years, thanks to DH's job, if he weren't working there, I'd be packed and out of here so fast! It's way too hot down here! DS lives in Denton and goes to UNT-that end of the state doesn't seem as bad except for the traffic. Other DS lives in Laredo. I can't say I hate Texas, but I do hate this part of the state.

I live in TX, have for over 20 years, right now in the DFW area. Don't consider myself a Texan, I grew up in Montana and it will always be home.

My parents grew up in Texas so have lots of family here and in West Texas. I quess I would have been a Texan if they hadn't decided to move way north :)

Everybody says Pearl-and who is not from the area. It drives my wife nuts. I have alway attributed it to tthe fact that when saying a word your not familiar with yoou want to shove as many letters as you can into the first syllable. And if you see a word you know its the first thing you say. You say Pearl, and then try to make and fit.

We have ornamental Bradford Pear trees all over town but very few that actually grow pears. For some reason the big crop around here is satsumas, kind of like small oranges.

I live in extreme south east Houston - almost to Pasadena. I have lived in Houston all my life. I, too, was born in St. Joseph hospital, as another person wrote on here.

Don't you think it is about time we had another Houston area Dis meet? It has been several years now since we have had one.
Carl

Another native Texan here. I've lived in the Houston area my whole life (40 years). In fact, my parents are native Texans too. I like to visit other places, but this gal will always be at home in Texas!

On Okalahoma border about 2 hours north of Dallas

Born and raised in Richland Hills (a suburb of Ft. Worth). Moved to Lewisville in 1999 after marrying DH. Moved AGAIN in 2001 to Frisco, to the WORST apt complex I've ever seen. Moved again in 2002 to Little Elm (just north of Frisco and the Colony) and don't plan on moving again anytime soon. I like it here. It's quiet and small townish. :goodvibes

Hi Planogirl! :wave2: If you're ever at Stonebriar Mall and go to Sonic, I"m the one with the frogs on my nametag. :teeth:
