Calling all Sept DISers...

I can't take my mind off of anything Disney... I have already picked out all the places we'll eat at and also just made a list of attractions we want to do. This will be our first time staying on site and first big trip since I was a kid. Here's our list of restaurants:
Chef Mickey's for dinner on DD's 4th b-day
Playhouse Disney Hollywood & Vine Breakfast
Coral Reef Dinner
Akershus Princess Dining DD's b-day breakfast
Cinderella's Happily ever After Dinner @ 1900 Park Fare
Teppan Edo
Crystal Palace Dinner
Yak & Yeti
Tusker House Breakfast
and also MNSSHP!!!

Think about it, if the old ADR policy was in effect, some of us would be booking already. I so wish it was 180 again. :sad2:

We were lucky and got a 40% off code, which for us is better than the free dining since we're staying at the Poly. We'll be there for 11 nights the end of September.

So....speaking of obsessed...yesterday I was running around here asking my family "Do you want to eat here? Or here? Or here??" pointing to my list. Add to that "I have to make these reservations only THREE MONTHS from today!!!"

I am a loon.

I have a chart with each of our days, what day of the week that is (why, I don't know, because I don't CARE what day of the week it is when I'm on vacation!) and if there is a MNSSHP that night. Then I have started to pencil in prospective reservations.

We're on the Deluxe Dining plan, so that's 33 credits between us three. (my party consists of me, my mom, and my darling daughter who will have have turned ten by then.) My little girl is THRILLED that she will be ordering off the "real" (her words) menu this time, instead of the kids. Last trip (two years ago) I had to plan all the dining around who had the most acceptable children's menus. So yay, this time none of that worrying!

Oh, also I have gone down the dining brochure, written down the names of every place that interests me as well. Some favorites are on it, like Yachtman Steakhouse, which was my FAVORITE place last trip, and Narcoossee's which ran a close second on my favorites list.

We are going to try Chefs de France our arrival day, for whatever reason I shied away from that last time. We generally don't like buffets because after reading here about seeing people walk up and eat straight out of it with their spoons, or the thought of people coughing, etc in it, will just ewwww. Our one buffet exception will be Chef Mickey's as my daughter wants to go there very much.

Generally we're not breakfast people. I have to force myself to eat breakfast here at home. My Mom isn't big on breakfast either, and my daughter usually eats cereal for breakfast. So we're going to have a big ol' box of cereal in the room with us (as well as paper bowls/plastic spoons). If my daughter wants more/bigger breakfast than that, we'll go down to Captain Cook's for her. Otherwise, we plan to eat early lunches, maybe around 11:30. We do plan to do table service lunches and table service dinners.

Places NOT on our list this time...Boma. One, the anti-buffett (okay okay, PODS) kick I am on, and two, it was unbearably loud last time we were there. Food was good, but we're skipping that one this time around. I had put 50's Prime Time on our list, but then erased it as...well, we are Southern. We have that kind of food ALL the time. I guess it's on a "maybe" list, as the atmosphere might be worth it, but food-wise (and that's what counts, right? RIGHT?) not too excited by it.

I am totally rambling. Sorry!

This is mine and fiance's first time going to all the parks in almost two decades, and I am having a slight issue - how do you decide what night to book your ADR's this far out? I think I'm making it more difficult for myself also by trying to schedule around going to the Kennedy Space Center on the Saturday we're there, as well as getting a day in at Universal and going to their Halloween event.

But any tips would be appreciated!

We'll be there in September too. We were there last year - the same time but we didnt' really think we'd being going back this year so didn't take advantage of bounce-back. Stupid.....stupid....stupid....

Hopefully we'll get a pin for the dining. Fingers crossed.

There are some places we'd like to go back to and but then I want to try new places too! So many choices! So little time!

And yes, I'll be obssessing (sp?) until I can make ADR's and then after - wondering if I made the right choices. I make myself nuts...but then that's the fun part. :)

Hopefully we'll finally get to do CRT in September...

Barbara

I feel your pain! We did the same exact thing - didn't think we could go back in Sept again, so didn't book the bounceback. We won't make the same mistake this year. However, we did get a 40% off pincode, so if we can't get FD we'll still save some money. But FD is the better deal, so we'll be keeping our fingers crossed with ya

This is why we do book it anyway, since the $200 is refundable it doesn't matter. We do this because we know... we will always go.

I'm pretty sure that's 99 credits between the three of you for 11 nights.

This thread should be called 'The Sisterhood of the Obsessive Planners'-- I feel like I've found long-lost family! The wait has been making me crazy (I actually started planning last September) and when they changed the ADRs to 180 days out, I nearly cried. I WANNA DO THIS NOW!!!

So yeah- I've had my itinerary ready for about a month now, including where to eat with the little asterisks next to the restaurants we'll go to if we get free dining- which we did yesterday. Now I get to plan again!

We're looking at:
Sci-fi
Biergarten
Garden Grill
Tusker House
Crystal Palace
Chef Mickey's
Whispering Canyon
Liberty Tree

I am looking forward to this and some of us may even meet up at some point!

I just love these boards...

Booked FD bounce back on our honeymoon its a suprise trip for my kids who havent been since 06. They are teenagers now. Anyway we dont do signature normally and we kind of stick to or regulars and since Im having to do the ADRs on the down low.. Im going with a couple of the kids faves and throwing in three new ones we havent tried yet.
Returning faves are Coral Reef and LeCellier ,Boma
New ones for us are Mama Melrose,Crystal Palace, Tonys
I want to try Boma dinner(we always do breakfast) Marrekesh,Jiko,Yak and Yeti but alas my kids are not adventerous eaters. So DH and I are talking about making another just us trip for maybe our 5th anniversarry and try those places, my man will eat almost anything! LOL!

Actually I'm pretty sure I am going to do Crystal Palace on Friday. I've pretty much decided to do the Mnsshp. I think I'm changing Chef Mickey to Le Celiar at Epcot on TUesday. Haven't looke up Tony's yet. How is it?

Both restaurants are very good. It depends what food you are looking for. Crystal Palace is a buffet with the characters and Tony's specializes in Italian. We are also planning on MNNSHP on the 11th. We are thinking of trying the Wave at the Contempary. If I can get an early reservation at 5:00 that is my plan if not we will do Tony's.

Wow....I've been looking at dining, and so far I've come up with this...
Arrival night, MNSSHP, Crystal Palace before the party
2nd day, AK with Kona for Dinner
3rd Mk, ma's birthday, Tony's for dinner
4th day, start at DHS, and then hop to epcot for Coral Reef Dinner
5th day, leaving day, no dinner planned, cs for lunch, not sure what park yet guess it depends on what everyone else feels like! :)

A good point - we learned our lesson the hard way, but fortunately we were able to get FD yesterday. So this year, without a doubt, we will book the bounceback whether we think we will be able to go or not.

just reading this thread is like listening to myself!!! counting the days till June 20th when i can reserve!!!

We're also Bouncing Back in September ! We like to try at least one new restaurant each trip. We are going to try Teppan Edu with the kids. California Grill is always a must for us !

That's great, we'll be there the same night. I am thinking 5 for dinner myself. Still have to decide exactly where I'm eating that week. So many things look good. Good thing I have till June to give choices to TA. I have decided since I'm saving with FD to go ahead and do the park hopper. I'm so excited I'm driving everyone nuts. All I talk about is disney. Now if I can drop this last 25 lbs before the trip I'll be happy.

I booked our first trip with free dining this past week and have been scouring the menus to see where we want to go for at least a month.

So far I know we want Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, Hollywood and Vine (for the 2 year old), and Sci-Fi (for DH). At least I think thats what we want. I don't think we are going to try any of the fancier restaurants this trip maybe the next one though if we are offered bounceback. I was wondering about maybe Boma for breakfast since we are staying at AKL. Some of the pics look really good. And maybe Ohana's for dinner one night. I just don't know.

At least I have a few more months to figure it all out. I am going to need all the time I can get.

I booked all of our ressies last time around during free dining- this time, Hubby is going to help out. ONLY Ressie I have my heart set on is Chef Mickey's for my three year old's fourth birthday. I really, really want to go there- we haven't been before and I think it'd be good for his birthday! Otherwise, I'm open to new things- we haven't tried Le Cellier yet- would like to. Only place I DON'T want to go is Marrakesh (blech- LOL).

Hi All!

I posted on the other thread and wanted to join in here too! Just booked for 9/19 to 26 at the Poly TPV with free dining. I also booked air so it is official!

DH HATES the whole ADR thing so I really have to do my homework (he does not like to be a slave to the dining schedule. I always had a TA, but this time I am doing it myself. The last two trips we have done all the character meals and the Castle but this coming trip we may only do one character and then try some different dining options. I know for sure we will do Kona and O'Hana at the Poly so I just need to figure 5 more. At least I have until June 21 to figure it all out!

Happy Planning everyone! I feel my winter blues slowly melting away, even with the winter storm warnings we have here in Chicago!!!!:scared1:

Whoever said that this thread is like finding a bunch of long lost OCD planning sisters, you are so right! I'm here and I think I'll be driving DH crazy until 6/22/09, when we can start calling those ADRs in!

We are slowly working our way through and making a list of "we should try that" and "must have that" restaurants. But we don't have a spreadsheet... yet. I'm sure on ADR day, I will be prepared with first, second and third choices - I'm still trying to figure out how to write formulas into the spreadsheet so I can create some "if then" strategies.

In the meantime, does anyone mind sharing their planning sheet with me for formatting purposes? Just PM me.

I'm also a little concerned about the crowds, since we'll be there during F&W and MNSSHP. We are DINKS, so we're not super concerned about actually attending MNSSHP, but I'm just dreading the added crowds, especially now that FD has come out. Does anyone think it will be terrible?

One more question, dear fellow obsessive planners (DFOPs?)... where I can I get info on when MNSSHP is actually happening? Do they have the dates out yet? And where can I find info on last years EMH so I can guesstimate? Do they generally remain the same year to year? I'm new at this.

Thanks.
