Hello from very snowy SE Virginia!
Can I say that though it was not a Chamber of Commerce worthy picture this morning, the fact that the Virginia Beach oceanfront was snow covered all the way to the Atlantic was sooo cool!
No walking today. But I figured I "cross trained" by shoveling snow and helping the neighborhood kids build snow slides and forts. No work or school today...very cold, but so much fun!
I haven't been on the thread since Sunday afternoon, sure missed a lot! Couple of things I wanted to mention:
I am in for the meet up in DD Saturday afternoon, looking forward to it!
And on the RR: I looked at the cost when I originally signed up for PHM, but didn't see it worth the cost (I low carb, so I can't eat what they're offering food-wise). However, in reading the posts, I'm wondering if I should reconsider??
About to go check out the waiver details, but I figure to be towards the back (I submitted for 3:15 based on my Shamrock finish last March). Of course, I had a great 10 mi race finish in early December, but it was to late to submit that POT. Oh well, Murphy's Law proves right again!!!
I think I mentioned that a 9 mi race I was doing got postponed last weekend due to snow/ice conditions on the course. So they've rescheduled for this weekend, which I had planned for my 12 mile long and slow. So I think what I will do is a 2 mile warm up, followed by my 9 mile race, then a 1 mile cooldown. That way, I still do my 12 as planned this weekend, and can start tapering back. Although I'm doing a 14K the weekend of Valentine's Day, which is not optimal the week before PHM, but set myself a goal to complete 5 local races this year and the 14K is the first one. My coach gave me the gree light as long as I don't go out for a PR and just take it slow. It's just shy of 9 miles, so I figure if I take it easy (no more than 2-3 slow miles) a few days the week before PHM, I should be in good shape (and limber!) for the big day. Or am I crazy on crackers??
Keep the faith, ladies! Can't wait to see you all, especially at the finish line!!!!!
