:wave2:Where'sPiglet? - I just happened to click on your PHM 2010 trip report and read through it this a.m.! I found my DH in your photo about to go in the "tunnel" (under the bridge) to the MK! He's 6'9", so spotting him wasn't that hard! :rotfl: How funny is that?! On the other hand, I'm 5'3" and I don't see me in the photo.

2014 PHM will be my 2nd. I also mostly walked with a little jogging. The weather we had in 2010 was so perfect and I'm worried about 2014 and what the weather will be. It was a little too cold at the beginning - I had 5 layers and I couldn't feel my feet until the end of the first mile and I didn't take off my winter coat until about mile 3 or 4! Under that, I had two sweatshirts, short sleeve T and under that a long sleeve T. I used the porta potties before the race like you did and I, too, was amazed at the people wearing only a trash bag (or less!!) for warmth :scratchin

I am very impressed that you arrived Saturday morning, checked in and went to EXPO, etc. etc.!! If I could count on no flight delays for Feb., I would almost try to do that, too, to save money but I think DD and I will arrive Thurs night and leave Mon. In 2010 we stayed at POFQ with another couple for 3 nights (so sad they aren't having discounts this year) and then moved to BWV for 4 nights to enjoy WDW. In 2014, we are probably only going to MK on Friday and relax the rest of the time enjoying the resort (AKV - using points since there are no discounts on resorts).

Anyway, I loved your trip report and all the details I had forgotten. In 2010, DH stayed with me during the entire race, so he took photos of me at the mile markers or we had one taken with both of us and the characters. I'm not sure DD and I will be staying together for 2014, so my pics may look more like yours (with random people :p).

I also finally got my answer about the EXPO buses (they run on the half hour) from your trip report. :thumbsup2

Ok, I'm booked for fri - tue at AOA with 3 friends. We have 4 day park hopper. If I decided to arrive thur and get a room alone for a night would it be possible to get my tix early and add a day? Kim?

So does anyone know what the benefit to registering as a team is? My sister and I are considering registering as a team, but I'm not sure if it worth it? Any insight? Thanks!

On another note, my friends and I were asked to take pictures with Cosmo last year at the expo and are in the August edition. There is an article titled 'So you want to be a Princess' that is about professional women forgetting real life for a weekend to be Princesses. It is an awesome weekend and the expo is so much easier at WWoS. If you have the magazine, I'm the one in the crease with the pink shirt on. The page with the tutus hanging and tiaras on the shelf is our room, too. princess:

I picked up a copy tonight!!! What a great experience that must have been for you! Great pictures :goodvibes

I just finished my first Half Marathon this weekend! I'm so excited and it was so empowering, it makes me even more excited for the PHM and GSC!

It was hot and humid, 82 and sunny with a hilly course but I made it. 2:14! I am very happy with that. I'm signed up to do another in October and hopefully it won't be quite so hot and humid.

I could barely run a mile when I started training in February I can't believe how far I've come, anyone can become a runner! I hope everyone's training and races are going well, can't wait for February! :thumbsup2

I have a little bit of an injury. My doctor said it is just inflammation and if I dial back the run/walk intervals it should pass. I am back to 1:1. I wasn't happy about that at first, but I think it is actually helping with my endurance. I may stick with it for a while before increasing again.

Congrats on your first half marathon! :cheer2: That's a GREAT finish time too, and you've only been training for like 5 months!?! Impressive!! Are you going to submit this race to runDisney for corral placement?

Oh nooooo :sad1: So sorry to hear you're not 100%. It's lucky that your doctor didn't tell you to stop running completely though! And hopefully by scaling back to 1:1 intervals you'll get extra in-tune with your body and then you'll be able to up your intervals when your body tells you it's ready. Any idea how the inflammation happened? Take care! :goodvibes

No kidding! That's what I was afraid of! I have no idea how it happened. It was fine and then it wasn't!

That's a fantastic finish under any circumstances, let alone coming so far in such a short time - WTG!!! :cheer2:

I'm sorry you're injured - but glad to hear it's not too bad! I'm actually back down to 1:00/:45 or 1:00/1:00 for the foreseeable future just to avoid heat stroke here in FL. Don't worry about it slowing you down; I actually find my times getting better since I'm better able to recover during the more frequent walk breaks. And you never want to push an injury. Trust me - BT/DT. :sad2:

Hi I want to register for the Princess Half and I need to soon!

My Dilemma is that I want to charge my registration onto 2 different credit cards. Is there a direct phone number where I can place a registration fee?

I-run is only if you book a hotel. I can't believe the fees even for POP! Wow.

On the Active page to register it just looks like I can only place one CC.

Any advice? Clock is ticking.

Thanks all.

:)

I think so, I'm going to wait and see how the half I'm registered for in October goes and take the better time!

I actually enjoyed my run a lot more at this pace. I think I will hang out there for a while!

Thanks! That's awesome you saw your DH in a random photo. A friend and I were just discussing this recently, that I wouldn't be too surprised if I saw myself in the background of someone's Disney photos one day.

I was cold before it started, but not THAT cold! 5 layers! I've heard trash bags hold in heat really well. :confused3

I had originally planned to fly in again Saturday, or maybe Friday night, and not get park tickets. But now that my mom is coming along, she wants to do the parks, so she bought park hoppers. I was content with the idea of just relaxing around the resorts (especially after the PHM trip I had last time!), but park touring (in moderation) should be fun too!

I am toying with the idea of registering so this thread has been great to read through - amongst others! :)

My main concerns are that (a) I'll be going alone, (b) it will be very costly considering I'd be flying over from Ireland (c) training in Irish winter rains / winds would be tough in the lead up particularly if our January is as stupidly icy as previous Christmases have been.

But I'm really leaning towards thinking "oh hell" and registering anyway, even to just have my place! I'm not a runner, at all, so serious work would need doing :D

keahgirl8, do you mind if I ask what kind of injury you have? I only ask because, out of the blue last week, I started having problems with my right knee. It's fine for running, and afterwards, but the next day it stiffens up. I called my doctor for an appointment, but I can't get in until a week from tomorrow, and I could use some reassurance!!

Even though I know I have a lot of training in front of me, the only thing I'm really worried about between now and February is getting injured and not being able to run the PHM!!

I am a walker. Past events 2012 & 2013 WDW Half marathon & TOT 10 miler. I may be by myself also. Coworkers are going but they are Runners. Sometimes its better to go alone then i am not tied down I can get up and go when I want to.

It is pain in my hip/thigh area. I have had knee issues in the past as well. It is one reason why I stay off of the stationary bike.

I was flipping through the recaps from last year and saw my sister and I posing with one of the characters. The recapper decided not to stop for the photo, but wanted to take a photo.

I felt like a celebrity for .2 seconds. :cool1:
