Wow--I got on today to register and saw that the PHM is full. We moved this past weekend and I've been so busy I haven't been online for fun since June. I guess I'll try for 2015.

Good luck to all the runners.

Try Get Travel, they often have some spots left even after a race sells out.

Yay... so glad you got in! I saw it this morning when it was showing registration at 96% and I kept debating because I haven't run the PHM since 2010, nor run seriously since fall 2011 due to a back injury, but really want to get back to running... I miss it, and I need a fun goal for my 40th bday which falls on that weekend. I was also trying to find a running partner, but had no solid takers as of yet. Then I checked the site again this evening and saw it at 99%... I panicked and took no more chances! So I am all registered and will be running solo.

As for resorts, I honestly don't think you could go wrong with either BC or Poly... I stayed at the BC a couple years back when my oldest ran the 5k with me during Marathon Weekend... my boys absolutely love the pool there, and it really did work out great being able to walk back to the resort with him. I have always stayed on the monorail for the PHM and love it. I am extremely biased though because I have a serious love affair with all things monorail resort related... LOL. I have vivid memories of going to WDW as a child and always staying at the Poly (my personal fave), or the CR. I am a DVC member and for most of my runs I stayed at BLT, but this time I will be in the new VGF... booked my room this morning before I even registered for the run, so now that everything is in place I am super excited. Let the training begin!!!

Congratulations! So glad you're in too! :cheer2: Your story is very similar to mine - running solo and 40! I'm at least bringing along our boys for the weekend - ages 14, 13 and (by the time of the PHM) 7! My husband and our older boys are running the DL 10K with me next month, and it's too bad the 10K is sold out for PHM weekend.

Really appreciate the information regarding resort choice - I'll be really interested to hear about VGF. The photos look wonderful! GF is the only deluxe resort we haven't tried, so we'll need to get there someday. At this point, it's possible that our oldest will be in charge of navigation on race morning and bring the others to the finish to meet me - making Poly sound like a good choice (also my childhood favorite!) Is the monorail swamped after the race, or is it not so bad? We usually do a split stay between a monorail resort and an Epcot resort, but this one is too short and too busy for a split.

Just wanted to say hello! I registered yesterday and guess I barely made it in! Lol... This will be my 2nd Princess Half (did it in 2011) but will be the 1st time for my two friends . We are all super excited and am looking forward to attempting to catch up on this thread!

Yay! Congratulations!!! :cheer2: Please share all your race day tips!

Congrats to all who got in in the final moments - that was one fast sell-out! :faint:

Thank you! It was a close one! :)

It sold out so fast! Hope the move went well, and it looks like you'll be at BC in just 17 days, so have a great trip! :)

Here is my fb group. 2014 Disney Princess half marathon: https://www.facebook.com/groups/548211811868612/ There are some other ones too, I didn't find them till after I created a group. It is a "small" group 150+ people but growing. No spam and drama as of yet and crossing fingers.

ETA: this is a closed group so all your family and friends don't have to read all your Disney or running posts.

Sent a join request :)

Took the plunge and am registered.

Now to figure out how to be a half marathon runner :D

I also got in Monday PM in the nick of time!

3rd Dis Half, 1st princess half. Woo hoo

Not a runner but a 14 min/mile walker. :)
Still need to keep up my endurance training.
Goal to "jog 2 mins/walk 1 min." See how that goes.

An accomplishment in itself.

That is a great time! I'm a walker too but my best for a 1/2 marathon us just under 14:30. I'm trying some 30:30 running to try to improve my time.

Thanks MaMa and Blazer. I just started/got inspired in 2011 by a friend of mine who also has MS like me and she told me about the Disney events. So trained and walked my first half in Jan 2012. Best place to finish my first half! Now i am about to do my third half in December in my home town. By comitting to each event it makes me continue to exercise and stay in shape. :)

Hey MickeyFan & BlazerFan I too am a walker but a super impressed with your times!! On the treadmill (most training done due to New England weather) I am consistently at 4.0 (15mm) - but outside I am closer to 16mm. I have started to do intervals walk2/ jog1min on treadmill. Have done this for several weeks but my last outside walk (it's was 92 @8am) was no improvement in time. How did both of you get to such fast times and be able to sustain it for sooo long ?

Hi Princesses - alas my fellow princess waited too long to register and is out. Is the really no transfer process for bibs? I can't believe there nothing in place for a race this big.

No transferring person to person.. Has she looked into running with a charity group?

I am not sure - I'll suggest it. I think she was on the fence too long so she may be afraid of committing to a charity and not be able to do it. I will be another going solo.

Hey everyone! Need to decide what to get to listen to music on my training walks.... i want to hear music I have chosen, skip a song of iI want, I do not want to use my iphone....any suggestions?

Another possibility for race entry is through a travel group. I know a WISHer who is a travel agent and she has gotten people in in the past. I can give you the info if you want it. (DISBoards bleeps it out)

If you're already an iTunes user, an iPod Shuffle is easy to use, and easy to clip on your clothes. You can sync it with whatever playlist you want, but you would have to know ahead of time what songs you wanted to listen to, since there's no 'display' button, just play/pause and ff/rev (plus a random setting).

Good luck!

I highly agree with this suggestion - I use my iPod shuffle for all my runs: it's tiny, clips onto my headphones, and I can just reach up and click 'next' when I want to change songs. Plus the shuffle is very affordable, they sell for about $50. And they come in lots of pretty colours! :)

I also have an ipod shuffle - lightweight, easily clips to the strap of my running bra, and pink! Also have Aftershokz Wraparound Sport Headphones - no earbuds necessary - love them!
