Hi all! I am completely a novice at all of this. I will be 44 in 2014 and decided to set the goal of running the Princess 1/2. princess: I have never done any type of race before. I am wondering what programs the experts here started off doing? I was considering the C25K, but the runDisney website has a program too...I plan of completing at least one 5K and one 10K before February. I can't wait to read through this thread and learn all about it!

Kate

Hi Kate, trust me you are not the only novice here :) I'll be 59 in Sept feel better :thumbsup2 you're a kid
Yep Jeff Gallaway method for me too
Ruthie

LOL...just don't order the Men's! I could put a belt around those and wear them as a long-sleeved t-shirt dress.
::yes:: My mom actually took in my TOT and a local unisex race shirt for me - just sewed a couple inches in from the side seams and chopped off the excess! Much better fitting... but the TOT shirt (same material as the EEC) is still uncomfortably hot and prickly.

I don't qualify as an expert, but the Galloway programs - from 5K through half-marathon plan - got me through this year's Princess Half! :thumbsup2

LOVE her too BRAVE/Strong I'm going to go with that :thumbsup2 and thanks also PP with help with shirt sizes also the poster that said she exchanged it at the expo (that's a good safety net)

Ruthie

FYI, they have a very small amount from which to exchange normally...I went back to the expo 4 or 5 times over the course of 2 days (thank GOD I was staying at Coronado!) trying to exchange mine and was never successful. I ended up buying one on ebay in the size I wanted when I got home. I really liked the shirt this year, so I really wanted to be able to wear it. Now I have 2. :headache: Also, and I know it's FOREVER away, but check your shirt BEFORE you walk away from the table when they give it to you...with your own eyes. I picked up my BF's stuff because he was flying in late, he was registered for a Men's shirt, I even said "that's the men's one, right?", the guy said yes, got back to the room and it wasn't. Went back to exchange and they didn't have any to exchange...eventhough it wasn't my fault, there was no way to prove it. Luckily, just as they were telling me "no", another man walked up wanting to exhange his too...he had the men's size I needed and they had the size he wanted so I snagged it. :woohoo: Anyway, all that to say, the exchange table is there, but may not be able to help since they only have what others are turning in to exchange with. It's a crap-shoot.

I am sooo excited to register today!! I have a couple of questions that I was hoping some of you might know the answer to...I apologize if these have already been asked, I don't have time to read through the entire thread right now.

1. Where on the runDisney website do you go to register? (I want to be extra prepared, haha)

2. I have to register both myself and my sister, with separate info. Is there any reason this should be a problem?

3. How does it work to register as a team? Does one person sign up, or both, or what?

4. Another family member wants to purchase one of the spectator packages. Does she have to purchase it with one of our registrations, or can this be done at a later time?

Thanks so much in advance for any help!!!

1. Rundisney.com, then go to events, princess half and there will be a big register button. Good luck!

2. Not sure, ut I think there is an option that says team.

3. One person signs up I believe

4. You can buy these later

Princess is fun, you will love it!

I just got a pre-mature email saying its open, and go to link, nothing yet. I'm already in, but I'm interested in seeing how fast this fills. Also, trying to help all those that didn't get in yet.

I truly hope I am not making you all crazy  some more questions:

Team Name Can you call yourselves a different Disney character NOT a Princess?

These shirts, are they just a keepsake don't have to wear them to run right? I see full costumes, regular tank shirts etc...can we have a shirt made up with a character and a saying (Disney appropriate of course)
I have one, and if its okay have to get another made up for team-mate:

This is what I have in mind as I said I was injured and to get me through a LOT of physical therapy I had a t-shirt made up at Design-a-Tee at DTD It has a picture of Pluto running on it and the saying is:

"Work hard and Get All Paws Running" would this be okay ?? Thoughts ? and of course we'd be Team Pluto

I REALLY don't mean to be driving you all crazy, Ruthie

You can wear whatever you want during the run! I made up my own tee as well and you will see MANY others doing the same. Have fun with it and no you are not bugging us. That is the perk to a blog, ask away!

I was just coming to say the same thing - I FINALLY got an email, lol! After I'd already pre-registered, naturally. WTG Disney IT! :rotfl:

Some people wear their race shirts for the race. Others, like me, have a thing about never wearing a race shirt until we've finished said race. You can wear anything you want! Though WDW might take issue with profanity. Your idea sounds great!

Just got the rundisney Email and they're making me:dance3: already!! Sitting here with card in hand ready to go!!!:surfweb:

Team name and race outfits can be whatever you feel as long as it isn't offensive (basically, don't expose anything you shouldn't). Also, no masks are allowed. Team names can be anything Disney or non-Disney related, again, no offensive names allowed here too.

I AM SO JUMPY!!!!! I don't think I have ever been so impatient for anything in my life, other than the night before a Disney trip!!! :rotfl:
In 14mins, THOUSANDS of dollars are going to disappear from our credit cards as we all try to register for this at the exact same time
Good luck to everyone!! :goodvibes

My 44th birthday goal too!!

Newbie runner here! My daughter and I have decided to try for the Enchanted 10K and I'm soooo excited! Really need something to work toward and I think that the 10k fits the bill:banana:. Good luck with registration everyone!

So I think I pregistered but can't confirm on the registration page. Yet. Is the active confirmation enough? I am worried that I did something incorrectly and might lose out on a spot.

My email is posted at 10:39am today. I just got home, but I have already reg. for the GSC.

I will go against what most say...I think the shirts are sized properly. I wear a medium and get a medium and it fits fine. That said, I have a small chest and that could be the difference. I am 5'7" and weigh 140 pounds. Hope that helps. And not to proud to share the details. :scared1:
