Is this the kind you have? I use this one and it really does stay put. I also wear a baseball cap over the top.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like you can link to a specific product so I'm not sure which one you're referring to. What I have is the "no slide headband". It has these little rubber nubs that seem like they're supposed to keep the headband in place, but just don't seem to work for me. Maybe I'm wearing it wrong? I like to push it back so there's an inch of hair in front of the headband otherwise it looks awful.

Headbands don't usally stay put for me either, i have thin hair, and not much of it to boot, so it slides out easy. I am hoping the bondibands will work better b/c they are wide. :)

Hi Princesses, could some of you post short reviews of the BondiBand? I'm particularly interested in your thoughts about the fit and comfort. There's a lot of praise for BondiBands on this thread, but I'm curious if anyone's tried it and not particularly liked it.

I have a really cheap Goody hairband that always slips. I think it's because my hair is so straight that there's nothing for the headband to grip. I have to pin it in place with bobby pins which looks kinda funny. So I'm thinking about getting a BondiBand but want to hear some opinions first. Thanks!

I own plenty bondibands and use them in every run, they do help to some point stop the sweat from your hair, and they keep hair neat, don't slide back, they fabric is not the same I have one camuflage and a black one that are my favorites and the fabric is the thickest, go for this ones, the other ones are good also but more cute that practical the fabric is a little thinner, use them for my shorter runs. They have last but I rinse tham while showering never, never in the washe/dryer they dry very quick so I hung them. When I am running I won't go for cute so get yourself a good one in the expo.

Happy to see we are all doing so well in our training, I will be wearing my WISH logo pin in the number or the shorts, because I will be running in the outfit I had test run many times, the new "Valentine" shoes worked fantastic, went for a run this morning. Will be wearing a bondiband, hopefully I can buy the WISH one at the expo. Caitsma just like you I am all about #s so I own a Garmin 305, GPS that gives you every single piece of information you may need/want, and also you can hook it to the computer and then later track your runs, map the ways you go, etc, etc. I can run w/o shorts but never, never w/o my Garmin.
SYKO :worship: you are an inspiration, I told my husband about you today and he is dying to meet you
My heart goes out to the ones running in cold weather and congratulations to all the ones training hard, had you guys seen Spirit of the Marathon yet? wow! raw inspiration
Still not sure about the party, we are not doing the breakfast and very curious about the corrals....I wander if the bib #s mean anything mine is 2284. I'll try to get to the expo on Friday but we are leaving Miami at 2:00 pm so won't make it until at least 6:00 pm

I was just on the WDW site and it looks like there are no longer EMH at DHS on the night of the party and the park closes at 7pm. Don't know if anyone posted that yet!

I did my long training walk today...3 hours. I set the Garmin and took off. For the first 2 hours I ran some in addition to the walking. I did 4.5 miles the first hour, and about that the second hour. At the end of 2 hours I was at 8.98 miles. A bit slower than I have been. But, I decided not to do any running for hour # 3. I popped a Shot Blok every 30 minutes. Started feeling hungry at 2.5 hours... then, I had to go to the bathroom...but, no bathrooms. Decided to "tough it out' Getting close to the 3 hours mark and I really have to go... Can't think of much else...oh, except how having to "go" seems to be slowing me down! I time it so I am just yards from my car when the 3 hour mark hits and the Garmin "shuts down". I drive the mile home in record time and make it to the bathroom in time.

I"m feeling much better after that. My son asks how my walk went. I tell him fine, and realize that I never did look at my final mileage for the end of my workout. I hit "history" to see the stats on my walk. I nearly fainted when I saw 3:00 (hours) 13.10 (miles) !!!

Now, I had been hoping to finish the 1/2 in 3 hours. And, I know I can improve my time a bit come March 8. I am sure I will run more...the crowd will have me pumped...the adrenaline... So, I am happy, really. And, a bit let down as well. I really did not want to get to 13.1 before race day... odd, I know.

Anyway, weather was clear with temps in the 40's. I took a couple Tylenol and sat in a tub of cold water. Rubbed my legs down with Pain-a-trate. I am a bit stiff. But, holding up well.

Princess Runner--if you want a WISH bondiband you have to order it before the expo. You can pick it up and pay for it there. Just specify WISH headband when you order. Since it is a special item at a discount price, you either need to call or email...you can't order online. Let me know if you need the contact info.

As for the Expo... I was planning on going when I arrived. My flight gets in about 11AM. Have not decided on ME or car service. Either way, I am not likely to get there for the noon opening if I wait and take the bus over from CBR. Any insight on how often the busses will run?

Christine, that is awesome time!!!! I am just NOT a fast walker - i can't break that 3.8 mph walk speed.. so it's a good thing i run for a couple min. here and there! It seems when i try to walk faster, my front of my ankles hurt after!

I guess i will look to you for improving my "technique"!

Christine, I am going to hunt you down and keep pace with you. When I walk by myself, I have trouble maintaining a good race pace on my own. I have no problem walking faster, I just have trouble staying focused on the pace. I like to throw running in there too.

We could start a pace thread for the Princess...
8-9 min. mile people
9-10 min mile people
etc
but I think a separate thread would be best
could get complicated and add runners, walkers and run/walkers

hey all! sounds like everyone had a good weekend! i sprained my ankle running thursday night though! So ive been icing and resting... hope 3 weeks is enough for it to heal ok... it doesnt hurt much running, i did a 5k on saturday morning, it hurts standing still!
but anyway i was hoping to go injury free and bummed thats not the case.
I'll take it slow and steady and do cross training this week and lots of ice!

I am feeling pretty good today. Legs are almost fine. I guess there is something to that soak in cold water. Truthfully, I think that was the worst part of it!! I had to tell my son not to come barging in my bathroom--even if I started screaming like someone was stabbing me repeatedly with a butcher knife!! :scared1:

LOL I did a cold soak once, after 8 miles - and i gotta tell ya, the 8 mi. seemed easy compared to the cold tub of water that followed.. :lmao: That was torture!

Ok front page list should be updated.. if you are missing, please PM me!

And here are the requests i have had for nametags - again, if you would like one, or need it changed, please PM me. :)

I plan on being there when they open too :) Well as soon as the buses start running. princess:

We want to be there as soon as we can on Friday as well. If I understand correctly, we need to go to DHS and then transfer to a WWOS bus there? Is that correct?

Yes , DHS to WWOS. :)
Someone can correct me , but i have also heard that you can get to WWoS via DTD. But, i am not 100% sure on that one.

GOSH! I can finally get on the Disboards!! Did anyone else have issues yesterday with getting on the boards? And then this morning, I was reading up on everything that I had missed, and the guys shut it down again for an hour before I could post anything. This was what my face looked like when it shut down on me today :scared1:

Anyway, glad to be back with the Princesses. I was able to do 10 miles on Sunday, and averaged 15.6min/miles. I was pretty proud of that. Did more running then I ever have before, too.

If you remember my saga from last week, after doing 7.5, I learned from my mistakes.
I ate a banana and a fruit/protein bar and then went for my walk immediately afterwards, (instead of waiting a couple of hours).
I did my walk in the morning instead of afternoon, when it is cooler.
I went back to the sneakers that do not give me blisters, and were specifically sized to me. I added athletic inserts.
I got a new hydration belt that I absolutely love. It's only one bottle, but it holds 22oz, (instead of the 16oz I carried last week). Plus, I absolutely don't feel it, when I walk or run.
I filled said bottle with an endurance drink instead of just water, I think that helped with my energy.
I carried shot blox with me, but ate just one around mile 6. They are quite chewy. Maybe they are supposed to cling to your teeth as a "time released formula."
As mentioned above, I added more running than I usually do. I pushed myself from 7.5 to 10 and was shooting for a 15min/mile. I was quite fatigued and stiff afterwards, but I'm good today.

Can someone explain the cold bath thing to me? I would have assumed that a warm bath would release the tension in your muscles more? I'm going to need that after the Half. I had visions of hot tubs in my head, but maybe I shouldn't do that now after the race?

I would love to try to hook up with Christine and Megan, and see if I could keep up with their powerwalking/running pace.

Glad to be back.
Donna

I still cannot figure out what shirt to wear. WISH or the one pink/white shirt I own. Likely going to wind up taking both and deciding last minute (roomies be prepared for the "what about this one" routine :rotfl: ). Think I'll print out a name tag sticker or two to attach to my bib just in case I go pink.

Donna - I find it easier with shot blox if I cut them into smaller pieces and put in a baggie in my amphipod belt. Don't cling to the teeth as bad. The ice baths help reduce swelling that can occur right after a run. Personally I don't use them. Have done cool water before then ice only the knee that's bothering me. Some people swear by ice baths - personal pref as to what works.

So done today. can I go now?

Got my miles in yesterday! And then I was good for NOTHING! I don't know how I'm going to make it through the after party. I am having an allergy thing right now, so DH is telling me I'll probably be feeling better on race day than I was yesterday. Stupid trees, don't they know how much I love them? Why do they attack me with their pollin? Freakin' leaf out already!

*ahm*

Anyway, I'm a little stiff and run down today, but again I can't tell how much of that is allergy related. I kept around a 15 minute mile pace, so I'm pretty okay with that I think. I can go a bit faster, but I don't want to drop DH. :cutie:

Just wanted to say hey to everyone! It's back to work for me.
