Thanks for the update on this. That is fabulous news!! :yay:

I emailed them with the same question but have not heard back yet.

Kate -that is awesome on the 11 miles. Isn't it amazing every new distance seems like a new victory. Especially when you realize - I CAN DO THIS!!!

I have never been under 33 minutes before in a 5k and NEVER EVER under a 10 minute mile pace. So I am estatic today after finishing my race. My secret - not stopping to walk - I ran the entire 5k

Tricia- that is so amazing. You should be so proud of yourself, a personal record is such a big accomplishment.

Fantastic! is always an inspiration to hear the victory ofother stron, beautiful runners!!!

Thank you so much, i know i've been inspired by so many WISHers that i thought i'd try to pass a bit on!

Great job! smileyk8, you are fast! My 8 miles today was 1:42:07

That's a great 8 miles  My speed changes massively to be honest!

Off topic I am so excited! We just got confirmation that we will be staying in the new Treehouses at Saratoga Springs when we go in September!

Ok back to your regular programming :)

Wow that's so cool, when do they open to guests? Can't wait to hear all about them

Maura!! Hey girlfriend, come on down and do the 5K and the Half??!! Or maybe just come down and visit for some nice warmer weather and some WISH buds to hang with!

Ahh.. well, i just got off the TM and did 5 mi. and i gotta tell ya, i feel GREAT! Wore a new tank from Champion, and i really really like it -- debating if it will win over the WISH shirt for the race!! I like having my arms and chest open.. LOL so to speak! ;) My wish shirt has just the arms cut off it, and i cut a small "v" in the neckline, but i really liked the feel of this tank.. And best part is, i got it on clearance at Target for under $4!! LOL
Decided i am going to order myself a new pair of Saucony's. I am just replacing the same pair i have.. I have the money in paypal, so i may as well just do it.

I am on tap to do 10 miles on Sat! I never ever ever thought me and 10 miles would EVER be in the same sentence, but wow... here it is!

I am really on a full kick to eat healthy and really watch my coffee intake - limiting myself to 1 cup (ok, a big cup) a day.. except for Sunday's - then i will let myself have 2 or 3. ;) I think if i do this alone, i will drop 5lbs in the next 4 weeks before race day.. seriously, i drink alot of coffee (with sugar and cream!)..so this is a huge undertaking for me, and i am sure i will not be a really happy camper for the next couple weeks or so til i can get use to it.. And, if you see me on the hammock at the Poly with my coffee 3x's a day, just let me be, i earned it!! LOL

The weather was so beautiful today for February in Cincinnati! I walked 10 miles today. The time was slower than I was doing in flat South Carolina. In Cincinnati, we have hills everywhere! Hopefully, the speed will come back as I continue to work on the endurance.

I am breaking in a new pair of shoes. By the ninth mile, the balls of my feet were really starting to hurt. I hope that is just part of the breaking in process. Any ideas on that?

I did find a running skirt that I really like. There is only one problem--no pockets!! I am figuring out a way to solve that problem. So all the new items have been tried out, washed and tried again. Oh, yes. New tunes on the ipod!

Any other advice?

Hope the training is going well.

Meg

Oh Very cool Wendi!!!! Please come back and post pics in Sept!

Get the shoes !!! you deserve it and need them, the last thing you want to sacrifice is the health of your toes, good ,luck on your long run Saturday, I'll be doing my 12 on Thursday, I may jump to 14 next week.... it's been a while...about the coffee, there is prove that a 8oz cup will improve performance if you drink it an hour before you run, are you taking gels? powerade?

Hi guys! I've been missing because I've been sick... I had to skip my 8 miler on Sunday due to being sick. Woke up on Friday w/ pressure in the ears. I took OTC stuff, but I wasn't getting better. I went to the Dr yesterday... DOUBLE Ear Infections and the start of bronchitis! I can't believe it. ugh. I was given a shot and am on antibiotics so I hope to feel better to be able to do the 10 miler this coming Sunday. I'm so tired of laying around, but I don't feel like doing anything else.

Ugh...

If you check out the first post, you will see info about the name tags, if you would like one, just pm me. :) People are using them for both name tags for the expo, or ironing them on to tshirts.. The party at HS is the one that you can buy the tix for when you signed up for the race - the Happily Ever After party.. The EMH (extra magic hours) were scheduled for hotel guests at HS that night, meaning they could stay in the park til 10pm, when our party was supposed to be 7-12, so i wasn't really happy with paying for a party tix when hotel guests would also be allowed in.. but supposedly, they are moving the EMH's so it will in fact just be a party for race participants and their families. (If they bought tix of course).
And i wouldn't print the roster on the first page til right before you leave, as there are always additions.. i have a few i still need to add. :)

I did my first real crank today, I was slower than I would have liked, but I did hit a tree and fall off :rotfl: (the corner was too tight). I did 8m in 1 hour.
We are still tweeking things on the chair, its been to the shop twice and they have shown DH what to do.
I'm still waiting for the indoor trainer to arrive.
Stacie, don't push it, my DH gets bronchitis, so I know how bad it can be. Just get yourself better first, before you even think about running (you are far more important than any race).....you don't want to end up in hospital.

Syko: OMG - you hit a tree?? Hope things are ok. 8 miles in 1 hour?? That is cruising!! You go crankin girl!!

We are getting close!!
Glad to hear that some of you are getting your race clothes together. Now it's FL and so there will be sun, unless for some strange reason the sun decided not to come out, so you need to be thinking about that. You WILL need to wear SUNSCREEN while you are at WDW. For the race please use a good waterproof/sweatproof/wipe off proof sunscreen for the race. You may want to even apply it during one of your training walks/runs. ALSO, you will need to use a SPF lip balm and would need to have some sunglasses/hat or visor. UV is not only damaging to you skin but also your eyes!!
Please ladies, I know its FL and you all want to get "sun", but don't be foolish and get "burned" instead!! UV is not something to fool with and FL has it ALL THE TIME, even on cloudy days!!
If your coming to WDW by plane I would suggest taking all your race wear for race day on the plane with you in your carry on and not in you checked bag. If it gets lost and you have to buy all new stuff at the expo, that may not be the best time to try anything new!

Have a good Tuesday!

Tracy

Ok Guys. I consider you my WISH friends and Princess buddies.. but this Princess is having a hard time right now. I haven't posted anything, b/c so many of you are celebrating your richly deserved victories in your training, I didn't want to be the one wet blanket in the group. But I also want to stop crying, and maybe one of my Disney buddies can help me there.

I did 7.5 miles on Sunday, which is good, but I didn't do well. I did it with new sneakers and ended up with a large blood blister on the bottom of my left foot. Not the really bad part, once I got home I got "sick" twice and had to lay down for awhile b/c it felt like I pushed it too much somehow....

So, I had that not so good training day, and then yesterday I went to the Dr. to begin more hormone therapy (the health issue I have mentioned in the past). As I'm walking up to the scale, I kept coaching myself, "well don't be too upset if you haven't lost as much as you think. Maybe it's not 15 or 10, just be ready." Well, ladies, it wasn't 15 or 10 or 0. I had somehow GAINED 5 pounds. I was beyond devastated. I haven't been able to lose weight in the 4 years since I went on fertility meds to conceive my sons, and even with the dieting and exercise for this Half, I apparently STILL can't lose any weight.

I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but I'm not weightlifting, just powerwalking, and to me, it says that maybe I have gained muscle, but the fat still hasn't moved.

I'm sorry if I am sounding shallow and dismal, but my self-efficacy has taken a real blow with the last two days. Like maybe I'm just fooling myself into thinking I can really do this.

These are some of the issues I think I'm not experienced enough to know what to do:
1) the shoes. If I put cushioned insoles in them, do you think my foot might move a little less? Body glide on the bottom of feet? I didn't really "feel" like there was excess movement in the shoe, but that's what I am assuming happened for the big blister to occur.

2) hydration. I carried a small water bottle with me (which also slowed me down), but I don't think that was enough. I am the type of person who is always drinking water. How do you all stay hydrated for the longer miles?

3) fuel. I had a banana for breakfast, but didn't start my walk til about 11 am. Do you think I did not have enough carbs in me? Is 7.5 miles too small to even be thinking about that?

Again , I'm sorry to be raining on anyone's parade, normally I'm fun and like to joke around alot. But this "health history" that I have been dealing with is the monkey on my back, so to speak, and the no weight loss was devastating yesterday. I REALLY want to do this, I wanted to feel some kind of victory over my health, that I haven't felt in quite awhile.

Any advice, Princess buddies?

2BoysMom - as far as hydration - I use a fuel belt for the longer runs. I have 2 different ones - one with 4 little bottles and one with 1 larger bottle. I tend to like the one with the larger bottle because the pouch is bigger but the one with 4 bottles is nice because you can put different things in each bottle. During the race there are plenty of water stops to keep you hydrated but I always have my water with me because I tend to take a drink of water if I get "bored" and that tends to happen when I am not around a water stop.

Good luck and whatever you do make sure you get at least one long run in with anything new before the race.

I am so sorry about all that you are going through. I think it's good that you posted though. I'm sure there are others going through very similar things right now. The scale just seems so unfair sometimes. It sounds like it could be a number of things. I do think that if you really want to do this though that you can, regardless what the scale is telling you! If you went 7.5 miles I'm pretty sure you can do a half marathon!!!

hydration - I'm fairly new at this but I have 2 fuel belts, one with the 4 bottles and one with one bigger bottle. I find the 4 bottle one much more comfortable to run with, could be just me though! I also am someone who needs to have water with me for a sip whenever I want or need it. I will be using both the water stops and my water belt.

fuel - personally I would need alot more than a banana to run 7.5 miles! How about adding a bagel or oatmeal to that banana? Definitely fuel your body for the runs. I think the rule is that you also need to eat during the race for runs over 60 minutes long. Personally if I know I have a run that will be longer than 60 minutes I start eating my sport beans about 20 or 25 minutes in. I eat a few at a time. You will need to play around with whatever you are eating during the race though to make sure it works for you.

You can definitely do this and know you have lots of people cheering you on!! :cheer2: Go 2BoysMom !!! :cheer2:

I agree with Della!! Was that the first time you used those sneakers?? Probably not a great idea to use them for the first time doing 7.5 miles.. LOL but that's here nor there now.. I don't think any sneakers should give you a blister that bad! Yikes!! Have you used these on shorter runs? If so, what was the feeling on them? I got a pair of insoles from Olympia for about 20.00 , they are athletic ones, and they are great!! However, my sneakers didn't hurt without them either..
As for the fuel, definately, if it were me, i would need to eat way more than a banana! If i had a banana, it would have been a snack about 1 hr. before my w/o, but i would have had breakfast - cereal? Bagel? Something along those lines.. or a powerbar..
And yes, for 7.5 miles, you definately need to drink! I go thru about 20 oz. of sports drink during a 6mi. w/o. I like to sip, but find on my longer days,i prefer gatorade or powerade over reg. water. Also, as someone else said, i do the beans or a gel - when i did my last 9 miles, i had gel around the 4 mi. mark..
I plan on doing 2 gels during the 1/2, one at the 4 mi and one at the 8 mi. mark.. plus my drink.. But, again, it's one of those you need to play with ahead of time.
As for the scale, honestly, i wouldn't sweat it. I am about 8 lb.s heavier than i was when i did the Minnie 5k last may, but i feel just as good, and i know i have gained muscle.. but reguardless, i don't stress about the number, it's all in how you FEEL. I know i have been skinner in the last several years, but there was no way i could have done 9 mi. back then!! So, heavy doesn't always mean unhealthier. ;)
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
