Oh,,, i am not sure the answer to that!! I thought for the 5k there WAS race day p/u.. but, mabye they changed it for this race...
I would shoot them an email.. sorry i am not much help!

I have a quick question....For the 5K, it says we need to pick up our packet the day before. I don't think my DBIL will get in until the evening. Can I pick up his packet? I think I read someplace that there will be no packet pick up the morning of the 5K. Hope I'm wrong.

Well, just because they say no packet pick up the morning of the race....I have seen it before where they say that and then they have limited packet pick up the morning of the race. I think they really want to encourage people to pick up ahead of time. And it is nice to have all that stuff well before the race.

There should be no reason you can't pick up the packet for your BIL. They generally have some extra hoops for you to jump through. He will need to sign a waiver at the least - they should send out proxy pick-up info closer to the races. Something along the lines of you must have their waiver and a photocopy of their ID....maybe with a note? I don't remember, but they do usually allow for it.

Yea Lauren!!!!!!! :)

***Waiving at Corinna!!*** Hey girl!!!

Yes, we are so excited! Almost at double digits!!

We will be staying at BCV.

I've had someone pick up my packet in WDW before. I sent them a copy of my driver's license and a signed waiver. I wouldn't count on any race day pickup in Disney.

Thanks for the info. I am going to make sure I have his waiver and a copy of his ID.

I have been very bad and still haven't started training. I really need to get myself going. I plan to start the C25K program today. I'm counting on my fellow Princess 1/2ers to get after me if I am not posting on my progress. I really, really want to do this and the reason that I'm posting here is to help on my accountability.

Hello everyone! I've been reading the DIS boards forever, but never made it down to the WISH board. I was googling the Disney Princess Half, and who'd a thunk it? There was a disboards board for running and stuff AND a thread about the Princess half. Guess I really ought to look around a bit more. :rolleyes1

Anyway, I have been DREAMING about doing this race. I am doing my first Half Marathon in November. The Princess half would be a great follow up, don't you think? Unfortunately, DH doesn't agree that I HAVE to do this.

Check out my blog (link in my sig), if you're interested in my story (lost 40 pounds, just started running last September)...hopefully, I'll be checking back in here at some point to say YES I signed up!

Good luck everyone! :thumbsup2

So now it's me needing the encouragement. I've screwed up my ankle area really bad. The books said to ease, I eased! I did, I really did, I swear. I was scooting right along, really proud of myself. Now I've got pain in my leg a seven out of ten with ten being on the floor crying curled up in a ball. I let it go along for about a week on its own thinking it might get better. It got much, much worse. Now I've got physical therapy to go to three times a week for $70 a session. I also have a new pair of running shoes with orthodicts. We won't discuss how much that costs. At this point I don't care how much it costs, I just want my leg to get better. I was making such good progress. I know part of it why I'm down is the pain, part the weather being so rainy with the hurricane, part I'm getting behind in my program, part how expensive my new injury is. I just wanted to try something new and lose some freaking weight. Why is that so hard?

Lauren, (((((((Hugs!))))))) First off - REST -- nevermid about getting behind or losing weight or whatever right now - the only thing you need to concentrate on right now is RESTING! The rest will come later -- you have plenty of time girl! Where ever you are in your program, put it on hold and ease up. As far as PT - once you get the vibe of it, you can just continue it on your own instead of paying to go so much.. most of it is just basic moves. Do other strength activites like stretching yoga -- something non impact for a bit.
You have time to overcome this and move on.. just listen to your body and rest!! Hope you feel better! Keep me posted!

Lauren  I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. That is my biggest fear as well.

I have officially started C25K. I have done the first two days of the first week. :woohoo:

Hi Vickie! :wave2: Yes occasionally I do drag myself about :surfweb: Good job on the getting the C25K started. If you find yourself getting stuck and needing some help i'm sure Susan will trade places with you. 2 weeks ago she was begging for help from the other park runners telling them that I was trying to kill her. Try to help a friend work on her pace and running and that's what you get back. I fully expect her to duck into the crowds next Sunday at DL and hide from me till the start. Miles is busy packing for the DL 1/2 trip and I have actually called on the Princess room but :rolleyes1 decided I'd call back and deal with the trip/race AFTER Everest.

Lauren! I don't think we've properly met :flower3: but I feel your pain about the injury. Take it easy. Listen to the therapist and see if there is something else you can do while your leg heals, like that yoga that Caitsmama suggested. Those things DO help in training for the races. The stronger you are in body the happier you are afterwards ;) So says the woman who said she was going to do X amount of sit ups a day aweek ago. :rolleyes1 Take care and I hope your injury heals quickly :flower3:

KJbrown I hope you are able to come! Good luck on your November 1/2!!!! :cheer2:

Back to the regularly scheduled program and all that! ;)

Catch ya later Vicki!!! :)

Can I as the parent to my 9yr old pick up her kids race packet??I have a different last name.
That way she can still enjoy the parks with DH while I go.

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. Today is better. I still had to come down the stairs sideways, but at least the pain has really eased off. My therapist did some thing where he put medicine on my ankle area and then used an ultrasound machine's sound waves to push the medicine into my skin. Doesn't that sound like some BS? :rotfl: Really worked though. :woohoo: For at least five minutes I was pain free. Then I stiffened back up. But it gave me hope. I'm doing the stretches he gave me about every hour, using an ice pad and keeping it elevated. I've also decided my new shoes, that are white with pinky-red stripes, make me look like I'm going faster. No run/walk right now though.

Have you ever went to the shoe store and gotten pretty much no say in the shoes you get? It was SO strange! I got a note from my therapist detailing my feet problems (there's a list, thank you very much) and then I go to the runner's store (where I never would have had the nerve to go. I mean, really, who am I?) So I go in and give my list to a tiny girl with teeny ankels. You could tell she runs. I could have put her in my back pocket. Anyway, she studies my list, which is long so she goes to get help, and then they study my list, watch me walk around a bit, then a bit more, then measure me, then come back with three pairs of shoes for me to try. Here's me, your brown Puma shoes with blue cats are nice. Looks like the brown might help hide dirt. Can I have those? Ah, nope. You can have the white ones with the pinky-red stipes, with these here inserts. How about the green ones? I love green. How do the green ones feel? Oh, well, in that case I guess I'll take the white ones with pinky-red stripes, with the orthodics, too, thanks, here's my credit card.

This stupid injury was making me feel like I should just accept the fact that I am an indoor girl. I always have been. Why was I trying to resist the fact of who I am? But this morning I got up and my pain was less, I still couldn't get down the stairs, but still there was less pain. Now I've decided that what I have is my very first sports-related injury. That MUST mean I'm a REAL athlete! Let's break out the Diet Pepsi and celebrate my first injury! :woohoo: I'm an indoor girl trying to break free! :thumbsup2 With a little help from my friends, of course. :grouphug:

I'm so happy to hear that you have come to terms with your first sports related injury! You are right, all REAL athletes get them. I'll raise my pepsi and celebrate you and your freedom from the indoors. :cool1:

Well, I'm still on track. I need to run again tomorrow. I'm feeling pretty good so far. I'm getting excited about March.
