So today we had a potlock here and I have been stocking up on the free diet cokes (I know, not good for the diet). I am so over caffinated right now that I feel like I could do the race today (until I found a port-o-potty at least!).
I'm not sure if I will be able to sleep tonight.
Can someone please explain the diet coke thing to me?????
I can't quite figure out HOW it is a diet buster. Things I do think that I know: (But these could be wrong as well)
1. Diet Coke has no calories so it can not affect the burn less calories than you take in equation of weight loss.
2. Diet Coke contains caffeine so it acts as a diuretic, which can affect your water weight, and leave you dehydrated
3. It may be possible that the sweet taste causes a small insulin reaction, but when your stomach figures out there is no sugars, you stop producing the insulin. Could that be enough to bust a diet?
4. Diet Coke may keep you from drinking enough water, which is important to weight loss.
So why would 4 or 5 cans of Diet Coke be bad (can you tell I have a HUGE Diet Coke addiction?) IF I am also drinking about 12 - 14 cups of water, and no coffee.
I have really tried to cut back to 2 cans per day, and I manage that most of the time - but due to a bizarre set of 2 yo induced circumstances, I got 1 1/2 hours of sleep last night - so it has been a total caffeine day.
