Hey!!everyone!!
I have a few questions for all of you POR families who have stayed at this resort before.
We will be at POR at the end of April. We are traveling with a group of 18 family members. I believe as a group we may be staying at the Alligator Bayou section because of our size. Can we request a room near the food courts and bus stops so it is convenient for us? If so, how far in advance should we call, we may have a race for the phones due to everyone having the same idea as us!! If we request a room with a view, will it cost extra??
Which rooms do you recommend with the shortest walking distance and convenience to ammenities? We have a 1yr old and 4 yr old so any help from you Disney veterans would help us a bunch! Thanx !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Counting down the days!!! :woohoo:

Buildings 14, 18 (and then 27) are the closest AB buildings. We made our requests when we made our reservations, but I called to confirm the requests about 3 days before we went down. Yes, rooms with water views cost extra. From the AB side (especially in the above numbered buildings), most water view rooms will be views of pools. We happened to have a first floor corner room and didn't even bother opening the blinds. We left in the morning, came back mid-day and headed right to the pool, and returned to fall asleep in the evening. We didn't spend much time looking out of the window.

With a such a big crowd, you may have some difficulty getting so many rooms together in one building.

Thanx so much for the reply! You can request a room when you initially book your trip?? We were told you can only request a specific room 2 to 3 days prior to check-in . Do you know the POR direct #? Maybe I am calling the wrong #?? :confused3

I wouldn't count on you automatically being placed in alligator bayou because of your group size. Quite frankly, 18 is not huge in Disney's eyes. Now if you have several families of 5 and need the trundle bed, you can definately count on it!!

Here's the phone number to POR: 407 934-6000. I have heard that sometimes they will still accept faxes with requests the fax # is: 407-934-5777. When you call, have all the confirmation numbers handy just in case your initial reservations were not linked. AND if you had a TA book the trip, have them call for you.

Keep in mind a bus stop request may also place you close to a parking lot and there may be more noise. Still, a bus stop is the request I would make. builidnigs 14 and 18 would be the closest to the food and the main bus stop. If you walk through a parking lot, building 15 is also closer to the bus. 18 is smoking optional building. I would ask for building 14 with 15 being a second choice.

The buildings are large and you should be able to get all of your rooms in the same building or at least close. Even if you don't get your first choice, don't dispair! Every building has its plusses. There is a pool situated betweek 16, 17, and 18 and there are laundry facilities there too. (But 16, and 17 are a few more steps to the bus stop.)

In my opinion almost all the buildings are a long walk to the food court. It is a really spread out resort. It is also very beautiful and lush. You will enjoy it so much. Just be prepared to do a little walking.

I think this resort is great for families. I love it! The only down side is only having one restaurant. I hope you've already made dining reservations through group dining.

Thank you for the #'s. Here are our family groupings : 4,4,2,2, and 6. That may be an indication of the location Alligator Bayou. We were going to book #14 because it is closest to the food courts and bus's. Is #15 the one closest to the parking lot? That's what I see on the maps. My sister in law mentioned # 27 as an all around good building to stay at. Yes!! we did book a few dinners during our stay. You have been helpful, any other info on the rooms or where else we might be situated please fill me in! :teeth:

Building #14 is the best bet all around. Yes, you can request now but you have to follow up about 3 days in adavance. Your numbers of 4,4,2,2, and 6 wouldn't necessarily put you in AB. AB is for groups needing the trundle bed. Your group of 4,4,2, and 2 definately would not need the extra bed. Your party of 6... I would think they would put in two rooms unless you took that 6th person and split it up at 5 and 5, then they would put you in AB. My understanding is if you book a "magical gatherings" you are guaranteed to have your rooms right next to each other. That's what a friend of mine told me who just booked a "magical gatherings".

Good Luck!!
