Calling all MS Excel experts!

Could someone help me? I tried to figure this out on my own but I can't!

I'm not even show what it's called so bear with me. If I have numerous rows with a heading in row roll and I want to scroll through chart but keep that Row One Heading to keep showing how do I do that? Does that make sense? Not sure how to better explain.

Use the freeze panes command. Window -> Freeze panes.

Make sure that your cursor is on the cell directly below the row you want to freeze.

And if you only want the rows to freeze, make sure your cursor is in column A.

Example -you want to freeze rows one and two.

Place cursor in cell (A3). Make sure you click so that you highlight that cell.
Now do the window/freeze pane

Now when you scroll down your sheet, rows 1 and 2 will stay at the top.


If you have a chart and want to freeze both the heading and the side column of the chart, then place your cursor under the row you want to freeze and in the column to the right of the one you want to freeze. So, if you have headings in row 1 and headings down column A, you would place your cursor in B2.

Do the window / freeze panes.

Now when you scroll your sheet, row 1 and column A will stay in place.

There is also the split option. There is a tiny bar above the vertical scroll bar and to the right of the horizontal scroll bar. Each can be dragged to the spreadsheet to work just like a freeze.

In my experience, a split tends to confuse people less than a freeze because you can clearly see the split. Freezes tend to make people think something is missing.
