Calling all Military

When I was National Guard in 2003 I had to show them activation orders in order to get my free ticket, so it was my understading that it was the same this time, apparently it depends on who you try to get a ticket from. Maybe since they are charging this time they aren't as strict?

Did you buy the tickets from Disney or Shades of Green? We had some friends (reservist) try and buy their tickets at Shades of Green and were unable to, but then went to Disney and had no problem at all. They there subject to the tax but that didn't bother them. People working at Shades of Green know how to tell the difference between a reservist id card and an active duty card, no matter how much they look the same.

When DH and I bought our tickets we were never asked anything except did we want to add water park or hopper to our tix. Maybe it is because DH is retired, but no questions about what base he is from or papers were asked for.

Hello I really need your help with a question. My family is leaving for Disney World in May and recently I was told that Active Military receives discounted tickets for the parks. I was told we could purchase up to 5
4 day tickets for $99.00. When I looked into this on Disney.com it stated the offer was good for Activated members of the National Guard or Reservists and must present their orders in addition to a Military ID card to get the discount. My son is in the Reservists but we are not sure what orders he needs to present to get the tickets? He is not deployed so what orders are they talking about? If anyone has information about this and can help us I would really appreciate it.

If it has not already been answered, basically, all your son needs is to be in a "drill" status (meaning he goes to his unit one weekend a month for training/duty) as opposed to "inactive" reservisits (who are not drilling, but in a pool of names, should they are ever needed to be called-up).

Typically, your son's ID card (that identifies him as an active reservist) will suffice.

Seaworld has been doing it for years, busch gardens does too. I remember last year there were people that qualified for the sea world promo that didn't qualify for the disney tickets.

And, conversely, there are those who qualify for Disney that don't qualify for Busch Parks (Sea World) -- namely, the military retiree community.

(and it isn't the one that counts, Disney's is the only one that matters) If you have an ID Card and you can go onto a base and walk into the ITT Office and they will sell you a ticket, then that is good enough for me! It cuts out the need for orders. Not just anyone can A)Get onto base and B)Buy anything without an ID.

Disney would prefer this, I would imagine, because that way their people only have to exchange the vouchers not ask supervisors a bunch of questions.

Anytime you can take the bureaucracy out of a transaction I am all for it! Can you tell my husband has been in for 20 years?

UM NO-what more than likely happened is that your friend had a CAC card that was issued more than 5 years ago-at that time they said Army national Guard-Army reserve or what ever-that practice ended in 2006 and now a soldiers ID card is a soldiers ID card-they only thing they have to differentiate them is Branch of service-i.e army, navy, airforce or Marines. Dependant ID cards are different-service member ID cards are not. I look at alot of them-there is not way to tell the difference on Cards issued after 1 Sept 2006
