I am just curious to see how many people out there live in Michigan. There's a few that I know of who have posted on another thread about MI but I thought we should have one place where we could all check in and say hi!

I have been here 16 months now, and when I say here I mean Lake Ann, which is near Traverse City, which is sorta near the top of the ring finger on that whole mitten map thing. Well, maybe between the ring finger and the pinkie. Whatever.:goodvibes They call it northern lower penninsula anyways.

So if you live in MI, have ever lived in MI, or wish you lived in MI, wave hello to the everybody out there! :wave2:

Ok, you made me laugh out loud at the part about those who WISH they lived in Michigan. Particularly at this time of year! :rotfl:

I'm in the Lansing area.

Did you get a lot of snow, mommaU4?

I live between Lansing and Battle Creek. I was born in Michigan, raised in Michigan, went to school in Illinois and lived a few years in Colorado and have now lived back in Michigan for 20 some years to raise my kids. :)

I'm a Florida ex-pat, who now finds herself in the suburbs of Detroit.

I leave for Florida on Saturday though!

*waving*

West Michigan here. Love every single part of Michigan!

Can a former Michigander step in for a sec and say hello? I grew up in Michigan, spending the first 26 years of my life there. My home town is St. Clair -- in St. Clair County. I now live in Northern Virginia, but I DO miss Michigan!! Especially Coney Dogs!!! And Frankenmuth chicken Dinner.... and Sanders cakes (although they do ship now, I'm ordering one for Xmas dessert)... and believe it or not, I really really crave Elias Bros. Big Boy Fish N Chips pretty regularly! :teeth:

I was born in Grand Rapids, DH is from St. Joseph. We moved to Florida last year from East Lansing.

We don't miss the snow but we miss a lot of our friends up there.

DD says she wants to move back to Michigan when she grows up so she can have snowball fights.

There are things I miss, too. Blue Moon ice cream. I can't find it anywhere down here. I can't even find anyone who has heard of it.

My DD says she'd give anything for Bill Knapp's to reopen and build a location here in our town.

I'd give anything if they'd reopen HERE, floridafam! I really miss that chocolate cake.

It's not bad today, but our first snow fall of the year was not long before Thanksgiving and it came in with a bang. It started snowing around 2:00 that day and by the next a.m. we had over a foot of snow. It's been coming down pretty steady since then although we've had a few breaks. I don't want to jinx anything!

I think the only people who would wish they lived here in the winter are the ones who see the more scenic shots of the pretty snow on the trees.
We live out in the "country" and are about 25 minutes away from a store of any kind. We have about 2 and a half acres and right out my back yard is a row of pines that does look gorgeous covered with fresh snow. But trust me, it is a scene best viewed from the warmth of inside the house with a cup of hot cocoa in hand! :goodvibes

I've been known to find the Bill Knapp's Chocolate Cake at Meijer in their bakery department!

I miss Mr. Fables....their fish and their onion rings!

Does anyone know of a small place in Michigan called Clio? I know someone who lives there.

The name rings a bell, but I'm not sure of the location.

I just did a search on Clio and now I know why it rings a bell! Its near Frankenmuth! :flower:

The nearest larger town is called Flint I think.

Clio is over near where the pointer finger curves into the thumb, isn't it?

Hi everyone from an EX-Michigander, now Floridian. :sunny: I lived in Dearborn for 28 years before moving to FL last fall. This time of year really makes me happy that we moved!! :cold: :cold: :cold:

I really miss Stroh's ice cream - just can't find any that is the same quality down here. :( And coneys - jeez louise I would love to find a good coney place like Leo's or Senate's.

Does anyone remember when Sanders had ice cream in the grocery stores and they had the Vernors flavored ice cream?? God, I can almost taste it just thinking about it!

This time of year we have NO sympathy for people who moved from MI to FLA. NONE AT ALL. Even for Ice Cream. ;) Now those we have moved here from CAL. :charac2:

We are from Royal Oak, a suburb a wee bit north of Detroit. We currenlty have around 5 inces of snow, some schools are closed, but ours are not. :cold:

We had a MI members thread a while ago. It went for a while, but must of died out.

Port Huron, MI here. Born and raised, live in Colorado for 16 years and now back. I've been back almost as long as I was away.

My dd is a Upper in Marquette MI. She likes to log on using my name and see what kind of trouble I get myself into. Actually, she also looks to see if I am planning any vacations to Florida.
