I'm working on my plan for ADR's for our next visit. I'm struggling with Le Cellier being a 2 credit dinner even though the dinner menu looks really great to me. Is it just as great an experience for lunch or is it just totally worth it to do the 2 TS credits?

Also I'm dining with a 6 year old. She's fine with the items on the kids menu but what is the atmosphere like? She's a well behaved 6 year old but we're used to doing a lot of character meals.

Would love to hear any general thoughts on Le Cellier. I know everyone has different opinions and its all about personal preference but I really love reading what others have to say.

Thanks!

I actually prefer a late lunch and it only uses one credit. I would print out the menu's for each meal and put them side by side. I also think that your 6yo will be more comfortable during the day since during the evening you see less children and more adults out for an evening. It will all come down to what you feel comfortable with. If your child is used to dining with characters this restaurant will seem boring to her. Make sure to bring some crayons and coloring sheets to help, plus it is dark inside.

I think that you will be very happy with lunch, but as I said it is my preference. My children are 16 and 19 and ask for lunch so we will have that other credit to use for another meal, usually a character one. Good luck with your decision and enjoy your meal.

If you want to eat there I would do lunch. We went there for lunch two months ago and it was just as good as it was for our dinner the year before. There is no way I would pay two credits for it because it is way over rated.

We did lunch at Le Cellier last year and we loved it and are hoping to go back again on our next trip. My 13 year-old son has not stopped talking about it...I made him order the Filet Mignon and he LOVED it! I think he was especially impressed by the fact that it took me 3 months to get the reservation. While it is one of the quieter restaurants, there were lots of children eating there when we were there. It was dim and cool in there and a great break from the hot August sun!

I've been to Le Cellier lunch and had quite a few Le Cellier signature dinners recently. While I can say the dinner menu definitely experienced some positive changes, whether it's worth it or not depends on you:

-The dinner menu has some nice upgrades, such as the lobster chopped salad (loved it), steak tartar, a scallop appetizer, ribeye, "prime" New York strip, truffle-crushed potatoes, etc.
-The dinner menu also has some dishes that are practically identical to those on the lunch menu: cheese soup, chicken chipotle sausage, mushroom filet, and the maple crème brûlée (these are the more well-known and popular dishes).

If you went for dinner, do you think you would order mostly the more popular dishes, such as cheese soup and the mushroom filet? If so, then you might as well go for lunch. The food is practically the same and would cost half as much. Personally, I agree with some of the suggestions above: if you do the 1-credit lunch, you can still get some of their better dishes and fit in a character meal with the other credit.

I haven't gone to Le Cellier since they made the switch to signature at dinner, but I don't think it's worth the extra credit or cash.
Most of the popular items are on both menus, and I know I would likely go with the Filet Mignon.

If you see something only on the dinner menu that you know you would order, then go for dinner. If not, save your money or your credit and go for lunch.

I still struggle with Signature Le Cellier. Last year we had lunch (1TS) and it was wonderful. The kids were fine and they really enjoyed themselves. The steak is good, yes. But I am dreaming about that Chocolate Whiskey cake. :cloud9:

I really liked Le Cellier on our last trip but my DF who is a vegetrian loved it even more! He had the gnocchi and put it in his top 3 for all the meals we had at WDW and we were there for 3 weeks on the DDP so tried a lot of places!

He would pay 2 TS for dinner but they have taken the gnocchi off the dinner menu and it is now only on the lunch menu so we have booked for lunch. Plus with 1 TS we can get my preferred main too - the filet mignon :)

I think LC is way over rated, I didnt think my meal was anything to write home about. I certainly dont think its worth 2 TS credits for dinner. I would stick with lunch. If lunch wasnt available, I would go somewhere else for dinner....i'd book something like Yachtsman or CG.

Couldn't agree more, nicely explained...... :thumbsup2

Don't think you should worry about the atmosphere being too quiet for children. I had dinner there at 8:30 and it was crowded and noisy. It was absolutely not the case that there were more adults. Food's good, I did not mind paying for it, but I don't use DDP, so I can't say how credit worthy it is.

Glad to hear lunch seems worthwhile. We have a lunch ressie next month. We have always loved dinner and the new dinner menu doesn't appeal to us so we opted for lunch.

Thanks a bunch everyone! We have decided to book it for lunch and use only 1 TS credit. My hesitation is that the filet has mushrooms which I won't eat and I really wanted to try the rib eye but the more I have considered it, I would rather find a different lunch option and use only 1 TS credit and have fun in another spot too. Thanks so much -- I loved reading the replies!

Just ask them to hold the mushrooms and they will. You can swap sides too instead of having the mushroom risotto.

For whatever it's worth, I hate mushrooms, but I ordered the filet as-is and loved it.

We love LC and only ever eat there for lunch. My DH and I always get the mushroom filet and the cheddar cheese soup (which is also on the dinner menu) but would not spend 2 credits for it unless we absolutely had too. As for your 6 year old is concerned, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have a 8 yr old and a 10 year old and we have all been going to LC for years (it's one of our must do restaurants) and they have done fine there, but we also go to a lot of Signature restaurants too and they do just as fine there as well. If you can snag a lunch ADR, it is well worth it IMHO....have a great time and Happy eating :goodvibes

Great posting. I have been wondering if it was worth dinner or lunch. My kids LOVE a good steak. Their favorite restaurant is Texas De Brazil!
However, my issue with a sit down lunch is that we would usually stop for a very early lunch because we eat a very early breakfast.
Stopping for a sit down early lunch means lines are getting longer while we eat.
Although, if I showed the kids the menu they would probably choose to eat rather than ride.

Are any of the desserts at Le Cellier "must do"s? We have a lunch ressie for our December trip and typically would not eat dessert after lunch, but I don't want to miss out on something that absolutely needs to be tried to complete the Le Cellier experience! ;)

Does anyone know what time the dinner hour (2TS) starts? How late of a lunch can we book?

THANKS!

Ive had both lunch and dinner and both were great. I think its worth two credits for dinner
